[BL - WIP] 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer
Schneeds replied to Midlife-crisis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
All In The Reflexes did something similar with his brick built mod version. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109505 I think it's well done. He posted the LDD as well.- 38 replies

The most recent UCS, and all the sets since those speak otherwise.
-
Following current trends it won't be $90. The .10 per piece ratio is a thing of the past. I shutter to think what the new Death Star will be.
-
I think it's a pretty good set overall, with the exception of two things. Why is Kallus in this set? I could be wrong but I don't recall he and Ahsoka ever being in a scene together. The 7th sister would have been a great addition here and really helped make the set special. Also not as big of a deal, but they should have given Ahsoka the white lightsabers. That will bother die hard fans. I imagine she'll command a decent price on bricklink.

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

That is very sleek and very well done. I especially like the side flap above the wings and the rear hatch areas.- 46 replies

I personally find Sato to be a rather lackluster character, but maybe that's just me. I think Ahsoka commands enough demand that she would be a nice icing on the cake for a well done ~1500 piece set and boost sales; something like 75055 size.

Exactly. Let's be honest, the term "combat frigate" sells a lot better with kids than "medical frigate" ;)
-
The Emperor commands it :)

Depending on how much the interior is valued, it's an accurate claim :) As much as I love Star Destroyers and interiors, I would take this over any existing moc I am aware of.

[MOC] UCS Medical Frigate - Further Improvements and INSTRUCTIONS
Schneeds replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Do you put the length at about 115cm, Mortesv? Do you happen to recall the height? -

I was thinking the clear translucent pieces for the stand like Mortesv used, to give that "flying" appearance. That wouldn't be as sturdy though, so I certainly understand the way you did it :) -

I'm no insider, but I would think the Ewok Village would retire before the Sandcrawler. That being said, I think they're both popular so they might not follow the traditional retirement timeline. -

I love it, it's an ideal scale and piece count. I especially like the "bridge" spanning the two main sections. I'll echo Mortesv, could we get some shots from behind the engine section? If I were to change anything, it would be to try to make a clear stand rather than the black. That would give it the true real-world model look that I think it really is. -
The Tydirium for $79 is a nice deal and I think by far the best offering. That should sell well. Nice discount on the Assault Carrier; I just don't think it's as nice of a set. A MF for 20% off sure would have been a wonderful thing Too bad the promo minifig offering is so weak.
-
Holy mother of God. You have just achieved legendary status. Those engines are magnificent. And the interior? Hot damn. The more I study the interior, the more impressed I am. The attention to detail and the way everything just... fits so seamlessly. There is absolutely nothing arbitrary about it; no after thought. It literally looks like you had every last piece planned from the get go. Beyond impressed.
-
I like that you managed to work in the best three scenes from the prequels. Very high production value overall :)

Good review. Wasn't planning on getting it before, and definitely will not be now. I still cannot for the life of me figure out why they wasted a UCS slot on this. Shave the UCS label off and the price a bit and literally no one would be complaining right now.
-
They seem to be content to let Bricklink fill the void. I do agree with you though.
-
The only reasonable explanation is that Lego believes the storm trooper rarity elicits enough demand that they help drive the sales of bigger sets, and increase profits more than resulting sales from battle packs would. I could see this being the case with kids where they aren't looking to build giant dioramas, but really want to have a few troopers.

I think he was looking more for thoughts on the actual sets, not himself ;)

If you look at the original source material, the new version is the most accurate by far. I think people's idea of what the Tie Advanced is supposed to look like has been influenced by all these years of Lego's inaccurate representations, rather than by simply watching the movie.

[MOC] NEW UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'
Schneeds replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't care what size it's become; I'll find room for that master piece to be displayed. -
I'd prefer they simply picked the best actor for the role irrespective of what gender/race they are, but maybe I'm just old-fashioned like that.
