  1. Unless they're willing to up the number of UCS sets they make a year, I don't think it likely; at least not anytime this decade. They're about to have three new, immensely popular Star Wars movies, filled with content for future UCS sets. Also, they haven't even finished the OT properly. We don't have an AT-AT, which is simply astounding, nor an A-wing (both of which have emerged in Star Wars Rebels, along with the tie bomber). Add to that fact, as someone has already pointed out, they seem to be moving towards a formula of big play sets, and smaller models for UCS sets. I'd love for them to re-release 10030 (even though I have one) but at this point I think a Finalizer is much more likely.
  2. I could definitely see them continuing with the formula of one big play set and one traditional model style set per year and putting them both under the UCS label. That's an easy way to protect and pad the sales of the traditional UCS set with AFOLs and gouge the Christmas shopping parents of the kids market.
  3. I didn't even notice the muskets at first, excellent use of those! I love what you did the top of the Crawler, that looks amazing. I am most curious to see what you come up with for the bridge window section.
  4. Another vote for the chunky classic Boba Fett. When that first Slave 1 came out in 1999 I thought it was the greatest thing ever.
  5. 10030 and 10179. The Black Seas Barracuda has a lot of sentimental value though :)
  6. Twin SVS subs and Martin Logan mains, center and surrounds. The current A/V is an Integra from back in 2008, but I will be upgrading to an Anthem MRX 710 at some point, or possibly a Marantz SR7009 since they're practically giving them away. The screen is a Carada.
  7. That doesn't even make sense. Lucas is the creator of Star Wars so if he wanted something in the movie, then it should and would be in the movie; it's not some fluke. Pretty sure he's more of an authority on this than you are.
  8. The Death Star and Ewok Village are some of the most beloved sets ever made, so I'm not sure how it's a thankless job. Also, you seem to be unfamiliar with the originating concept of the UCS line, or the vast majority of those sets.
  9. I don't mind so much that it's a play style set (although I prefer models much more) so much as the fact that it just doesn't look like a 2,000 piece set, or make any kind of a statement. The Death Star looks and feels like every one of its 3800 pieces, in fact even more so. Take the Ewok Village at 2,000 pieces--it makes much more of a statement. Both of those sets have cohesion. Hoth just seems hodge podge. They should have gone big with this set, 3,000+, not gone home.
  10. The cut outs are 3 inches wide, with 2 inches in between. The long slots are 16 inches. Han always shoots first in this establishment ;)
  11. You can do it :) The hardest part is just figuring out the measurements and drawing them. Even without lighting the white acrylic still looks good
  12. About four months. Sometimes with little activity, sometimes with tons. The panels and wall elements took the longest :) Thank you! I even enjoy Attack of the Clones now!
  13. Updated pictures for lots of added details. The room is a lot more polished and finalized now. Greetings, After months of designing, planning, building... thwarting rebel attacks (girl friend), redesigning, etc... my Death Star room has finally become operational. Much of the design is based on Emperor Chills' original masterpiece, which if you aren't familiar with, can be found here. After seeing his I was determined to make my own version, and Chills was glad to help me design it. I can't overstate how helpful he was, and just how awesome his original is. Here is my version! My primary goal was two fold: to make a room to display my UCS collection, and to serve as a home theater where I could enjoy all aspects of Star wars. Here it is from the back of the room. The room measures roughly 12x18, which isn't huge, so I had to make every inch count. I spent nearly as much time designing as I did building to make it all work. There are several sources of lighting: the Death Star lights provide a nice eerie glow and each side can be operated independently. There are also two banks of LED ceiling lights that are dimmable. The light panels I custom made and cut by hand. Chills later pointed out that I foolishly overlooked the fact that I could have used a hole cut saw. Oh well :) The built in cabinetry have LED lights that illuminate nicely and are dimmable. You can see the hanger control station in the back where the electronics are housed. Where is TK421?? The wall elements/panels I cut from 1/2 MDF and I did my best to make them to scale. I've added a considerable number of wall elements to fill in the entirety of the room. I used charcoal colored acoustic foam for the vent-like inserts on the wall panels and framed them. I won't go into great detail on the audio side of things since this is a Lego forum, but if you're curious I used Martin Logan speakers. A few more pictures on Flickr. The room is pretty much finished now. I imagine I'll continue to add and change minor "greebles" as one would a Falcon, but I'm happy with it now overall. The only problem being, at the rate people continue to build amazing things space is becoming an issue and MOCs are going to be facing some stiff competition for shelf space :)
  14. The warship is very well done, I think you picked an excellent scale for it. The engines look fantastic.
  15. These "adventure" ships look like they belong more in Star Trek than they do in Star Wars. They have neither the elegance of the imperial fleet, nor the greebly-beat up look of the rebel alliance. Not a fan :/ Vader's tie looks great though. Shame Tarkin is tan.
  16. My biggest issue with it is just that it takes up a UCS slot. UCS sets should be limited to an actual vehicle/ship of some kind.
  17. Except that would still be an amazing UCS set worthy of the label. This doesn't even look like a 2100 piece set, let alone a UCS set. Yep, should have gone with a UCS AT-AT.
  18. I like the interior's attention to detail. Very nice.
  19. Those two statements would seem somewhat contradictory.
  20. Have to agree her reemergence in Rebels was quite epic. The character grew quite a lot and I think the minifig will be quite popular.
  21. The engines are nicely done. For me the only part that doesn't quite work is the radar dish; it just seems a bit too simplistic given the rest of the model.
  22. I cannot wait to build this. Very generous of you to share the files! How does the stability of v2 compare with v1? Does it have as much of a need for a stand?
  23. As someone who has purchased a few of the older classic UCS sets used, I'd say that box being flattened is pretty meaningless. You can easily reassemble the box and it wouldn't even be noticeable. The condition of the printing on the box is far more important.
  24. The references to Plagueis in the canon Tarkin novel coincide with the legends Plagueis novel, lending it credence if even not official canon. Also, I could see Disney borrowing heavily from the EU, and just fitting characters and pieces in where they want to. Thrawn could easily be introduced as the exact same character he was in the EU trilogy, just with a different back story. The rebels source does seem pretty legitimate, and we would almost certainly end up with a Thrawn set if so. I still there's a decent chance Snoke ends up being Plagueis. Snoke doesn't appear to be a Muun, but Disney can make Snoke whatever they want now.
