I believe Marshal has stated that he doesn't build with LDD or similar, but builds from scratch. Sucks for us as I would pay a lot for that MF of his

That's a clever technique on the frame. Looks great so far.

AT-AT. However being motorized would only needlessly increase the cost, which is likely to be quit high anyway. I do find it perplexing that they haven't made a UCS AT-AT yet. A 3,500 piece, close to minifig scale AT-AT for $300 would sell very well. They'd probably charge $400 though ;D

It makes it look so much more polished. I really like it. I wouldn't have guessed it would take that many pieces but it was worth it.

I grew up with the awesome space and pirate sets of the 80s. The Black Seas Barracuda and the Mega Core Magnatizer were my prize possessions. I stopped collecting just after the very first Star Wars sets were released back in 1999. I think that first Slave 1 was the last set I bought. Then in 2012 my brother bought some galaxy squad sets to give away at a toys for tots type thing and the wave of nostalgia was too much for me. I've been back ever since.

It has to be something with connection points along the length so that i can hold the tiles in place. I tried piping with clips but it didn't look as good. I don't mind the chunkiness as much because it matches the wings of the Tie Advanced :)
-
Unfortunately they only make the train rails used in Lego's UCS version in that length which is too long. I thought about buying a bunch and cutting them to size, but then it wouldn't be legitimate :)

The next time I order some pieces I will probably try to :)

I can't figure out how to attach the lxf file That cockpit was the only one I had access to. I might swap it out for the ones used in the Tie Advanced.

*Updated for the LDD file at the bottom.* Greetings, I would like to introduce my very first MOC! A minifig-scale UCS style New Hope era Tie Fighter. First, I'll give credit to Belkor, Jerac, Yubnub and Imperialfleet, since I borrowed styles and ideas from each of their respective Ties. My goals were for it to be minifig scale, be able to fit a minifig, use brick built wings and be worthy of a UCS label. Here it is: I started off using Belkor's cockpit and modified it. Originally I had made a rather simple wing lay out using horizontal and vertical patterns, but after I saw Yubnub's First Order Tie, I knew it would be possible to angle the bricks so I came up with my own version. Good shot of the wing pattern and technique. It's pretty swooshable, but a lot of the connections aren't conventional. High resolution pictures on Flickr. And since I always appreciate people sharing the LDD files, here it is. It's almost completely accurate with the final model. Edit: LDD file Tie Fighter And I did end up putting in the correct widescreen :) Not really sure it looks better though ;)

Can one of you guys who have finished it measure the distance between the two end stands/supports? Trying to figure out if my shelf would be long enough to house this masterpiece.

Force Friday (30th September) promotions

I think you have to actually call to get it; it does shows up in my email receipt. The person you talk to has to manually add it. -

They're still offering Yularen as a replacement. Picked him up, I've been wanting to add a Thrawn to my DS conference room :) -

If they didn't have a $50 minimum order amount for Revan then that was a pretty stupid oversight. -

I called as well and was told they're out of Revan. Yularen is a great replacement though. I didn't get offered him though I'll have to call back. -
I hired out for the electrical. The existing wiring all had to be completely re-routed, the florescents needed to be hard wired and various switches and components needed their own circuit. It was beyond my meager skills.

Depends on if he has been made a Grand Admiral yet during the Rebels S3 timeline. I mean obviously the show (and TLG) can do whatever it wants, but making him tan would fly in the face of the books.
-
I don't even know what to say to that. Not that it wasted a ton of pieces, but that's just stupid on so many levels. And that was the least of the liberties you took with the set. (ps: they picked up the imperial fleet on scanners, not look out towers)

I believe in you Amazingbricks, but I'll believe this one when I see it :) Why would they give in now after all these years of denying us it?

He lacks bothan credibility. Not sure what the point of making a profile just to post fake lego star wars info is. J2G, did you happen to get any piece counts? The shuttle type ship looks like a pretty significantly sized vehicle.
-
I would imagine it would have a new Emperor and the latest storm trooper versions, but unless they really up the piece count or do something special like chrome Vader/C3PO I don't know that a lot of people will drop $400+ when they have the existing one. It was so well done I don't see much room for improvement beyond very exclusive minifigs.
-
Very well done and looks great, especially for having such a small piece count. I think it would look great on a flight-mode stand.

The greebling is wonderful. The interior freaking amazing. Now you just need Chewy to work on your camera for you so it rivals the model ;)
-
It's doable if you change the colors (discs/wheels/rims) to blue and dark gray. A number of the other parts have newer equivalents that cost virtually nothing. Or you could design and brick build the engines like Goto said. I had actually designed one and was beginning to source parts when I found an original used one on ebay for dirt cheap.

I could see Lego trying to capitalize on Rogue One, however it would be a bit of a gamble. An updated version of the original with new, possible exclusive minifigs, would be a guaranteed enormous success. The previous version was the most successful set ever sold, I was surprised they actually retired it rather than just adding updated minifigs and keeping it in tact. If for some reason they tried to go the modular route following in the foot steps of UCS Hoth it will be a disaster.
