  1. I don't mind the panels except for the 3/5 ones in the wing making the front edge look like it's full of air intakes... that just doesn't fly! That front edge should use curvy panels to look more like real wings.
  2. This is awesome and I'd be opposed to letting wheels creep in :D
  3. Yep, but truck drivers are when facing that problem
  4. Would you accept measurements (size & weight) from others? Maybe you could advice how to do them consistently with yours, and only publish numbers once you have a few sources that agree...
  5. I can't wait for the video to show it to my wife! Preferably late at night
  6. Wonderful model! Shame bricks of "one" color are never all of the same color.
  7. Cool! Works very smoothly. I don't remember seeing this before, but I force-refreshed the page just in case :) Still, I couldn't see the rim-and-tire pop-up coming out for the black wheel with black tire and total width 68.8mm / 2.71" / 8.6studs. Also, I can't seem to find tire #11957 (from set 42007) that goes with rim #88517, or any wheel using that rim come to that.
  8. Thank you guys for your nice comments :) Front mudguard has always been the thing that drives most critics, it's certainly not very pretty and its functionality is limited. I tried just now moving it's center 1 stud lower: suspension can still compress enough most times, and it kinda looks better, but I don't think it'd work well with the steering link, turning left would be really hard. Besides, this model is so rear heavy that front suspension doesn't compress at all while driving, it only does when playing non-RC and applying "weight" on the center or front. I think I'll try a more studded/tiled design next time, as suggested by a co-worker. We'll see, for now I think my next MOC won't have wheels or mudguards :)
  9. Hello! After long months of little work, I finally completed v1 of this MOC. I'm now feeling free to take it apart and move on :) Please (it looks terrible embedded). More photos in Flickr, here's a couple from yesterday: Functions: Drive (1 XL motor, connected directly to rear wheel axle) Steering (Servo motor, connected with link) Front suspension Seat suspension All mudguards are functional Front mudguard does not block wheel when suspension is fully compressed Fake engine with 4 cylinders, 2 per side, because 1 per side would've been too small Opening trunk, gives access to AAA battery box Front & rear PF lights (cable is a bit short though) This is my first "working" version, completed in January 2015. It's all original LEGO parts except for the rubber bands, which I honestly didn't bother buying, but I'm sure original ones would work. A previous version (August 2014) had a more complex drivetrain that proved pretty useless due to bevel gears snapping at the rear hub, which prevented the bike from driving and eventually turned those gears useless :/ I could make a v2 with the SBrick and MiniZip to save space and make the rear of the sidecar prettier, as well as have more power for the XL motor and hopefully driver faster. However, this would all be worth peanuts with current steering, which is too wobbly and imprecise. I haven't put much thought into improving it, but I think that'd ruin two aspects I like in this version: sidecar with PF functions is easy to de/attach and the motorbike looks good without it. What do you think?
  10. Great job! Plenty of white parts in the 42025, put to good use.
  11. Impressive animations! I even started liking the 42039 a bit :) Also watched the one for the R2-D2 and found the transitions mesmerizing.
  12. Well, I didn't throw them in the trash, but I did build my 42030 A model from the PDF instructions, I just don't have room for a soft paper booklet on my desk. It does add quite a bit of a challenge with the black pieces, but I also feel like some of the steps are overly detailed, which I understand is intentional, to reduce changes of people being sorry later.
  13. Thanks, I thought it may be trickier that that. How about moving the legs faster?
  14. Yeah, +1 on a Technic Resources topic, adding music to videos is a particularly tricky topic. So far I only found one safe approach: use music licensed under Creative Commons, e.g. the music in the GoPro Hero 2 and Hero 3 ads are like that, I used them on videos (e.g. my TC5 entry) and Youtube only told me to acknowledge that the video contains 3rd party music, and the video remains available to everyone.
  15. Instructions? THANK YOU! :) Would you also comment in more detail about how the legs geometry affect carrying capacity? I'd like to try bigger legs, to make something that looks like a spider with a body that can hold the EV3 brick.
  16. Love it! I think I'll try making a spider with this mechanism and EV3. Kids will love it :D
  17. 8855 Prop Plane with the B model being a space shuttle always felt weird to me. Both things fly but quite the same way, at least not most of the time!
  18. EV3 & SBrick, just not yet because tradition in Spain is that presents pop up on January 6th... but already got an SD card ready with ev3dev :D
  19. Great model! Thanks for the instructions, I'm sure my daughter will love it :)
  20. Can't wait for the video to see this model in greater detail, it looks really really good! Very sporty and strong :)
  21. Hopefully a simple question, but don't want to assume without asking: is the MiniZip also disallowed as "third party" part?
  22. Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to all the voters to take your time to vote (I didn't manage to )
