Yes..... it is all specified on the page..... I have also used the technique before. I know I could buy Efferman's pulleys on shapeways.... but for such an easy fix I think it is just so much easier to drill them. I know.... bad me.... Probably keep it for at least a while. It takes up a lot of space but there are many experiments that possibly could be done on it. Actually, I was thinking, after a break from it - of perhaps buying Efferman's turnable on shapeways and install it. The booms are actually very strong and can handle more weight. At around ten pounds it was the turnable that began to give way....Yes... the pics are great but NOT realistic. That is why I specified they were only for show. I would never encourage actual cutting -- for all the beams that way :cry_sad:

Wow! You do some large builds! I love this MOC.... great stuff. Question: What did you use for a turnable? I am assuming you came up with your own design or used something like from Efferman's shop..... those from TLG are just too small and weak. Being someone who also likes to build large MOCs.... I can appreciate how much time went into this. Fun stuff.......

Hey All, Here is my new MOC based off of the Liebherr 1750 LR Crawler Crane. I won't rehash all the details, you can find all the details on my mocpages @ http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/425498. It is a little bit of a read but hopefully worth it. Really fun build..... here are pics and videos.

You might have to accept what you already know. It might not drive well on carpet... Even with another, more powerful motor. One thing to remember is backlash from axles made of plastic. Even if the motors are super powerful because of the resistance of the carpet will cause the axles to bend which will create backlash.....i.e. very jerky movements

. Yes please. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, this would be very helpful. In fact, if there is anyone put there that wants to make a name for him or herself, this would be a great thing to do for any post that reaches 20 plus pages. The thread on the new BWE and Claas Xerion could use summary pages as well. -

This is indeed an interesting sidebar. As an American, it also concerns me. I have children who love Lego, but I am the scorn of the family for loving Technic. HOwever, I am not sure it has more to do with less capability or adeptness in building with Technic, as others have mentioned, but perhaps, IMO, the heavy dose of pop culture and media exposure Lego is receiving in other genres. America is known for being a culture requiring "bling" - and I don't refer to this in a positive way. Perhaps too much emphasis on outward appearances. I see many builders concerned with what "looks cool" - and although we certainly know Technic can look cool it is a trade-off of looks versus functionality at least to some degree. Could it also be the fact that it is not that there is little interest in Technic, but rather that it is just subsumed in the overwhelming sheer numbers of those interested in other genres? Very likely a poor comparison here..... but consider comparing sushi and pizza. It is not that no one likes sushi, plenty of people in the US do. But offer "food fairs" and exhibitions targeted at the masses and smart money would be that there would be many, many if not exclusively more booths dedicated to pizza rather than sushi.........after all I know whole college, high school, etc., curriculum programs that are build around Technic or NXT sets. Not sure it is fair to say there is no interest in the US in Technic....... just that perhaps it palls in comparison to other genres..... -

Gotcha....although the gear chart only gives values that are under no load. Because they have different torque, these rpms will change as you drive on different terrain. Sariels gear chart is static whereas driving in real time with different motors will be dynamic. Probably not to a huge degree..... But it is there......- 19 replies

Great build. But how do you gauge if the front and back tires move at the same speed? They not only have different speeds but different torque output as well.- 19 replies

This little foray into the world of resurrecting old sets to the world of studless is really bringing back some good ol' memories. Very well done! -

This is something that I will be posting soon.... hopefully later this week. But took this picture of my new build this evening..... just wanted to share real quick. Kinda a giveaway of what the build was...... -

+1 - I think it is helpful to have summary posts every now-and-then on posts like these. 36 pages and counting..... too many to read all at once. Not sure of the validity of the statement here but it is a good idea to summarize. If indeed the part count (~3000 pieces) and no pf functions is accurate, I agree with @brunoji - no more speculation is needed. -

Good post. Funny..... several of those mentioned have also either heed me out with a project or contributed to a project in some way shape or form. This is overall such a great community. Love how there is such a lack of ego here. Everyone is just here to have a great time. +1 to all those mentioned and others out there who are similarly-minded.- 16 replies

[MOC] Beach Buggy
nerdsforprez replied to Appie's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes.... great model but I also agree about questions with the suspension. In addition, two hard shocks for the front and rear? This is only a medium-sized model.... isn't that too much? -
This is very interesting to me as well. I think that Lego can actually serve in other, similar applications. I think of brain injuries in the military..... Any country. As a head trauma doc in the military I have introduced many to Technic. And they love it. Technic fits the bill of interest for many in the military because most are men and not only enjoy mechanical stuff but also have quite an aptitude for it. And in terms of benefit regarding rehabilitation technic is great. It is such a great exercise of visuo-spatial reasoning and both inductive and deductive reasoning.

I have not seen many alternative models for the 8070.... so yours is very much appreciated. Looks like the lack of interest in the set is reflected in the lack of modified sets that came out of it. But yours is very good....

For everyone who thought that the stickers were part of the set..... here are some images of real ... soon-to-be-released cars. As you can see..... stuff covering the real color/design of the car. No one in their right mind would think that these cars will really be released as the photos below indicate... http://www.msn.com/e...o-look-forward-to-in-2016-and-beyond/ss-BBoPOVZ?ocid=iehp#image=15 -
Captain Obvious would obviously say that ones' experience with moderators depends on the genre of forum a certain ma'am or gent chooses to frequent. I mostly browse the technic forum and all I can say is that I have had very positive experiences with the moderators there. I am a member of many Lego forums and in my experience the moderators on this site are the most friendly and professional. Not to mention the overall feel of the forum in general. Other places (ahem...*bricklink*) I find much less friendly
