  1. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I am sure I have the invoice in my inbox somewhere. I will look.
  2. Great. Thanks Sheepo. Your models are wonderful. If you are willing, I would also like an idea how many of your mustang instructions you have sold. I want to try and get an idea for the market that is out there for things like that.
  3. WOw, this really is amazing. Great engineering. DO you have a site to share with everyone of other creations you have built. With this level of expertise, I am assuming that there are many other models you have built.
  4. So many models, so little time. I am still working on the mustang..... which I am planning a surprise for... hint... adding more power! With the mustang, also with the VW models, I notice that the front wheels bow inwards when lifted. this is not so pronounced when placed on surface, but I did want to just check and make sure I am buildling it correctly. Are the front wheels supposed to do this?
  5. Best of luck, but after only admittedly a cursory review of the model, I think that there will be too much weight on the actuators for any real functioning.
  6. I am not sure if this point has been made or not, but aside of all the other impracticalities for TLG to create a model like this think of shipping a beast like this. Yes, I know, there are, or used to be 5,000 piece models out there but these were not Technic sets with power functions. Shipping costs would be astronomical! All those motors! If TLG offered free shipping like they do for purchases over a certain amount, they would pay those costs which would simply eat them alive!
  7. Great MOCs! Welcome to the club!
  8. Been using third party tires for a while now. They are pretty awesome.
  9. mmmm.... not really cheap though. One cylinder is around 7-8 bucks a piece USD. One switch is around 2-3 bucks a piece. You buy several, after shipping you are spending nearly as much as you would on a complete set.
  10. I like to call this place "home" :) Funny, we bought all expensive furniture planning on my study becoming a nice library. Well.....things didn't exectly turn out that way. Look at where all my books ended up :) http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/100020/14125065471_DISPLAY.jpg Sorry..... here it is
  11. I know this gets posted probably a dozen times a day, but here it is again :( I have read the forum rules and posts regarding posting photos, and nothing is working. I have a mocpages account, go to the pictures, and try to uplaod pics from there and nothing works. I have read on the forum that I need to go directly to the jpeg URL, which honestly I think I am doing but am not 100% sure. How can I be sure? Here is an example of the URL: http://mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=398186&id=/user_images/100020/14125065471 I go to the icon "my media" and cannot upload anything there either. When I try, nothing happens. I never try to upload anything larger than what is specified in the rules of the forum.
  12. I am a neuropsychologist. I only say this b/c LEGO would seem completely irrelevant to my field right? True story: When I was applying to graduate schools, I was asked in my interviews what I liked doing in my spare time; and did I have any hobbies. Being completely surprised by the question, I indulged my interview with my LEGO habit. She was thrilled! Long story short....I got accepted into the program. So, I would respond to this post with a resounding yes!
  13. Great post. Paul, you said what many think and suffer from. I personally have several projects going at a time, once I get bored with one project I move to another. Kind of inefficient, and I often feel guilty b/c I feel it necessary to complete one project before moving on to other. But yes, I think we all have this feeling sometimes!
  14. back to the function vs. looks debate.......can't really fault it for its looks if it is so very functional. As has been discussed on the forum, usually there is a signficant tradeoff between the two
  15. Ditto. The Price per Piece is fairly low. Also, although I am sure no is is buying it part out, the individual elements are pretty pricey. Now-a-days, because of the popularity of mecha suits, anything in gray that can serve as parts for greeblies is going to be expensive. Real quick, if someone were to try and build the exo-suit by indivdually buying the elements on bricklink, it would cost you nearly 100$ USD!
  16. I am sure others are already aware of this, but there is a shop on Bricklink that sells large, strong, elongated actuators..... http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Eezo Expensive? Check Awesome:? Check and Check
  17. Okay, must be my browser. Could that be it? Still is not working for me but I am on a computer with lots of filters. I will try when I am home on my own computer.
  18. Also, I really would not qualify it is Technic. Yes, there may be Technic parts, but the overwelming majority of the parts are not technic. The SSD has a chassis built out of Technic, but also I would not consider a "Technic" model. Ditto for the UCS MF........
  19. Nope. Nothing. Sorry for being so illiterate but this does not work either. I followed the ewxact steps you outlined. I also tried wrapping it in "img" tags and this did not work. My only question is making sure that I am using an url to an image. I never get the "copy image url" or anything similar. Once I have the image, I go to properties and use the url there.... but it is not working. To my knowledge, a url to a picture is something like: http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/100020/14090213461_DISPLAY.jpg Is this right? It takes me directly to an image
  20. ALthough I largely agree with this, I think there is one creation that may be a chink in this theory's armour, and that is a large crawler crane. Large crawler cranes abound everywhere, tons of people have built them. However, I think this points to the immense interest people have in the builds. Also, TLG put out one, and only one crawler in I think 2007 or 2008, LEGO 8288, in it was an immense success. Even today, new, sealed models are selling for around 400-500 dollars, and this is on a set less than 1000 pieces! So I think there is an intense interest in a crawler crane. The other thing is these cranes are pretty simple. Lots of liftarms no doubt, but mechanically can be built much like the 8288 just on a larger scale. I think a large CC, roughly twice the size of 8288, say as a flagship model for 2015 or 16 would be wonderful and sell like ice in hell. If someone were to submit a well built, functional CC around the 1600-2000 piece range w/o motors but just manual functions I think it would get tons of votes, pleasing to TLG, and marketable. I would produce one myself but am currently tied up in other projects.
  21. Blakbird, you edited my pic above so that it would actually post. I have read the forum posts and even have an open post to learn how to better post my pics so that I do not have to post my whole MOCpages when referring to my builds. What did you do to fix my post? Any recommendations on how to post pics?
  22. Thanks for the reply but this still does not work. I get this message You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community. The URL is from MOCpages, from what I heard from others this should be acceptable. Hopefully it is, I do not want to have to open a whole other page on brickshelf or something to just post on this forum. Also, if I just post the pics in the body of my post, and don't click the "add image" icon, then I can at least refer people to my mocpages to see pics than I am referring to. I know this is not desireable, and some think it is shameless self-promoting, which I am simply not trying to do. I just don't know other options at this time.
  23. My crane is 4180 parts. http://mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=383148&id=/user_images/100020/13943690501 I am sorry for not just posting pictures. I know that is preferred. I have an open forum under the "help" section" trying to get some help doing so. So far however, no recommendations have worked. New member... I am in the learning process If any one has recommendations, let me know.
  24. WHy does it say that I have exceeded my disk space when I try and upload pictures? I have only been on the forum short while, uploaded even fewer pics, and always made sure they were small (800x600), less than 80kb?
  25. You sure?? This would make one heck of an entry! http://mocpages.com/moc.php/396276 Sorry for including the whole page url. I know this is lame. When I try to add just a pic, it says that I have exceeded my "allotted disk space for attachments" -- what does this mean? My photos are less than 50kb and only 800*600 -- actually less than that. Why cannot I not add photos? Anyone?
