  1. Yikes! Just looked this vehicle up.... super ugly... please no one try to build this little bug splat :)Sariel, by your comment I guess you think the Gheo is ugly? Yea, purely aesthetically i guess... but wonderfully handsome in a in-the-trenches, football lineman, ruby-tackling, broken-nose-boxer-type of way :)
  2. Hmm... yea kinda disagree. I see this as much different than the unimog. The fact that the body is different is part of the point. The tires-forward body along with swept-back front allows this vehicle to have such big tires w/o raising the center of gravity too much. If you place the same tires on the unimog, the center of gravity would be so high that it would just tipover too easily. Chassis is likely much more different as well.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. Also, it would be easy to strap little balloons or bags to the outside, just like in the video, to make the thing amphibious
  4. Okay.... I am already super-backed up on projects and cannot take on another....but someone absolutely needs to make this machine! in LEGO!
  5. Many apologies if this has already been posted. I did a search and I got an near infinite amount of responses, yet none with my topic of interest. There are many sites used to share LEGO creations. I am not just talking about forums, because we already kow which the best one of those are :) But actual sites that one can share his/her models. Here are few off the top of my head: mocpages, brickshelf, rebrickable, flickr, and a new one, bricksafe. What are the pros and cons of each? I have a mocpages account, and think that it is the best. I can belong to groups, rate and comment on others' work, and do much more. Brickshelf doesn't really have any of these properties, yet I know that it has a long and storied history, and it seems like more people have a brickshelf rather than mocpages account. Flickr is for pretty much anything... so I think this is an entirely different beast altogether. And.... the new bricksafe doesn't seem user-friendly at all. Everything is random, not really much in terms of being able to search or comment or anything but I see that many are turning to this. Thoughts? Comments? I see that many who are much more invovled and experienced than myself don't use mocpages..... just wondering why. BTW... seeing that another conversation just got removed from the Technic forum b/c it was too general.... I will just say this. I, too am really only interested in the opinions or thoughts of those that primarily build with Technic. I think the different themes have their own preference in terms of sites they use to share their stuff. That being said, if this still needs to be removed and placed elsewhere.....I completely understand.
  6. Just downloaded my first. Thanks so much for doing this. This stuff is great.
  7. Agreed. If you start building for others' expectations you are likely not going to enjoy building as much
  8. "Depending on the driver’s needs, the Hurricane can be powered by 4-, 8-, 12- or 16-cylinders." -- http://www.rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/hurricane/naias_2005/index.asp Have to admit.... pretty cool. Surprised there are not more videos available for this model on youtube
  9. Got mine on friday, already read through the whole thing. Wonderful and more wonderful. Thanks Sariel. I hope this generates enough interest for additional editions. New, amazing creations are coming out everyday. For one, I really think that pipasseyoyo's Impreza WRX is pretty amazing. Not real concerned about getting one for free. If I have to pay to get excellent work like this..... I am all for it. More support means perhaps more editions :)
  10. Has breat cancer still not been cured? (pink coffee cups) I would think that far in the future we would have that solved by now :)
  11. I have no problem with the design. I actually think it is great given that you are trying to keep the model light. Love the tires from the limited crawler..... really accentuate things. Ditto on the wanting a pic of the underside.... also, do you have the weight?
  12. Saw this on the bricklink forum. In my opinion, builder has a little way to go in terms of aesthetics, but functions are nice. Always nice to see pieces done by individuals who actually do similar things (i.e. engineers) in their real-life occupations. http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=869463
  13. Yea... PP tires are getting really expensive. That is why I have been advocating for a while to use 3rd party RC tires. They are much better quality, and can be much bigger than even the PP tires. We have thread on the forum addressing all the ins and outs of 3rd party tires.
  14. Absolutely wonderful. Love the suit and love the video. Too much fun.
  15. I second all the accolades. But going to add my own to not just the lighting, but the photos as well. Anyone who does this knows that it takes some intense man-hours to take the photos seen in this post. nice job.
  16. Yea, I was referring to you :) -- great job, and happy that you are in Sariel's book. As I understand it, it comes out in NOV, and I already bought a copy. Hopefully it should be arriving soon.
  17. I just looked at this guy's youtube page. I really hope he made into Sariel's new book. This guy's work is incredible.
  18. Wonderful. Wonderful. And then some more wonderful.
  19. Thanks for the responses everyone. I have no intentions of ever selling anything.... but I was just curious to hear from those that have true skills. I know along with the skills there are some intense hours that are put in as well.
  20. No idea why not people. It is an innocent enough question. This is not b/c I have the desire to do the same..... I am under no delusion that anyone would ever want to purchase anything I have ever made. I am sumply curious how many adult builders out there follow and have an interest in this type of stuff.
  21. I made a version of the Exosuit, much bigger than the original, that I have already posted. If this were real life, and exosuits were available, you can bet there would be many different versions with many different attachments. The last version I made was a Military-grade version, this one is an Engineering grade version. Enjoy! More pictures, plus those of the Military-grade version, can be found on my Mocpages site: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/399885
  22. I am not sure if anything like this has been posted before. Is so, forgive me. I have not seen anything like this and, hence, the reason I am making the post myself. :) Occasionally I will see someone post blueprints on their brickshelf page, but I was wondering if there would be more of a need to see more comprehensive blueprints of others' models. I understand that how-a-days people use LDD or other software for planning their models... but does anyone do hand sketches of their blueprints anymore? Some things are virtually essential to have blueprints for. One's working memory is simply not large enough to rely on when you are working with tons of information. Here are a few of my blueprint sketches. Two are from the pneumatic scheme for the landing gear to my Millennium Falcon. The other is for a new Hangar that I am making for my Mecha projects. Does anyone else have hand-sketched drawings of blueprints? Pneumatic schemes are nearly impossible without some type of plan. Large projects, where stud count becomes large and increasingly important for measurements also necessarily require some form of blueprint. Like I said, many now-a-days use software, but if there are more hand-sketched blueprints out there... I would love to see 'em! Here are the plans for the Hangar. Sorry, the sketch was done lightly, so it is difficult to see.
  23. The philhome site gives figures regarding power, torque, etc. when on 12V. But how do you actually hook things up so that the motors run on 12V? The battery packs only go up to 9V right?
