Fantastic underwater scene! The use of color and the translucent plates, as others haven mentioned, is stunning. If I ever do an underwater scene, I will be referring back to this build for tips and inspiration!

I love how you've mixed normal sized ships and micro ships to get the pics you need to tell the tale. And some really nice photoshop work of the 8 Provinces in those rough seas! The story does not disappoint!

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Roasting the beans
Capt Wolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another great piece of this factory collab! I really like the continuation of architectural details, great use of the masonry bricks, and the color scheme works well. And the process is excellently portrayed. The office over the door, and the workers having a meal break are nice elements. Fantastic job! -
Right. I didn't think it had been licensed, either. But after I licensed it, the spreadsheet showed 2 medium forts.
-
@Phred, me again. The property licensing costs and yields don't appear to be included in the May and June spreadsheets, and so I assume everyone is missing a lot of DBs from their accounts now. I don't know if other months are affected. I only looked as far back as April. FYI.
-
@Phred, I mistakenly licensed the Nova Malto fort as a new license, but it should be a transfer from the previous licensor. I didn't see that it had already been licensed. Can you fix that? My bad. Thanks.
-
@Phred, I licensed a small residence in Nova Malto but it isn't showing up on the settlement account sheet. Could you check on that? Thanks.

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to Darkdragon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It's just any build that isn't part of a challenge or the monthly raiding and commerce action (MRCA). Monthly just means that you posted it this month (and you may note that the "monthly" thread no longer gets restarted each month, but extends over several months now). If your pictures and such are showing IC (in-character) images of the ship being built in the shipyard with story to match, then this would be a fine free build, and you could still post a new thread of the finished ship later as another free build, and license the ship at that time. Yes, doubloons (DBs) are primarily spent to license ships and properties. Your first small (16x16) property can be licensed for free, and you can license a class 2 ship for free as your first ship as well. (Look at the New Ship Classes thread for an idea of how big the ship classes are.) That would likely be bigger than a class 2 ship! That would likely take a few hundred DBs to license. Your first 2 free builds each month get you 10 DBs each; your next 2 would get 5 each, and it diminishes after that each month. A small property such as an artisan's shop would generate 5 DBs income each month once it is registered. (You can check out the types of properties and the cost to license them here.) You also get 25 DBs (I think) for posting your sigfig intro (somebody help me remember if he has to do anything else, i.e. fill out a web form, to get those credited to his account). So it will take awhile to get the DBs to license a galleon. That said, there are plenty of DBs to be made in the MRCA once you have a licensed ship, which is why the free class 2 ship to start is a good deal. (FYI, regarding the MRCA, it is currently on hiatus. Once we get that running again, it is supposed to happen monthly, but rule changes have caused us to take a break for a bit.) And I'm sure there are plenty of players in your faction who would be willing to loan you the DBs to license such a ship. FYI, if the pictures you want to post now are just WIP (work in progress) pics that you want to share, but aren't really part of an in-character story of building the ship, post the pictures in the Shipwrights Guild Hall thread instead of their own thread. You won't get DBs for a free build, but the players who frequent that thread can give you plenty of feedback on your build if that's what you're looking for. -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to Darkdragon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, start a new thread and title it however you wish. If it is in the BoBS forum, it will automatically be understood to be part of the game. Some players preface their thread titles with [FB] or [FB-SR] or some such to denote it is a freebuild or a freebuild by a Sea Rat, respectively (or [FB-COR], [FB-ESL], [FB-OL] for the other factions), but such a title prefix is not necessary. If you want to gain doubloons in the economic component of the BoBS game for your build, go to the Master Index thread and under Web Forms, click on the Build Submittal Form and fill it out to get paid. Also, go to the Monthly Free Build Registration thread and post a link to your new MOC thread with your name and faction so other are alerted to go check it out. -
New Ship Classes - The Transition
Capt Wolf replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
May I suggest that, given some of the subjectiveness of the classification system, and the general impression that conversions to the new system seem to be resulting in a ship being rated at the same class or a class higher (or more in the case of the really big ships), that it might be a good rule of thumb that ships can remain at their previous class unless the owner desires the smaller class? Just an idea, but it would avoid any complaints about ships being downgraded. -
Excellent story. I'm cracking up at the Mesabi family. I'm beginning to understand why the captain is always searching for a farther-away island. Fun way to introduce more about your character and being made a count!

[Esl-FB] A Doctor for the Refugees in Puerto Desafio
Capt Wolf replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wonderful micro, with some fascinating detail. As others have mentioned, the use of the roller skates is very clever! I like how you used inverted cones to mimic the classic lego tree trunk, and the use of microfigs makes the scene come alive. Welcome to the island, doctor! -
The Finest Pastry in the Brickworld
Capt Wolf replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah, monkey business comes to Puerto Desafio! Fun build, lots of activity and detail, with your characteristic sense of humor. You've got some very clever parts usage; I really like how they are applying the decorations. And the shop owner is an interesting fellow; will we learn more about him in the future? Excellent MOC!- 13 replies

New Ship Classes - The Transition
Capt Wolf replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is the only one of my ships that I'll argue. Looking at the Lady of Madrice, Wolf, and Far Horizon, each is clearly a larger class than the previous one. The Far Horizon is also much closer to the size of the Prince Fernando than may be immediately apparent due to different approaches in illusion scale. So I really think this one is a class 5. 7 it is! I agree this one is a 'tweener, but when compared with my other ships, I feel it needs to go as a small class 4. That covers my ships. I'll address the ESL fleet later, with one exception: Yes, my understanding is that they are one in the same. ---------- Thanks for spending all the time to review the ships! Quite the time-consuming task. Much appreciated! -
@Phred, time for a July 2017 sheet? Also, can you make sure Hojaroja, La Puebloto, Lakor, and Mehit are all added as Eslandola settlements. Nova Malto, too.

Explorer's Cabin, Camp Isaac, Cascadia
Capt Wolf replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
So much to like here: the cabin, the vegetation, the creek, the panther! Fantastic job really packing a lot of detail into this, and of hiding the panther. Awesome job! I'm not familiar with the piece used for the large blue flowers. Where is that from?- 16 replies

[SR-FB1] - July '17 - Idol of the Turtle God
Capt Wolf replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great idea, and excellent execution with that turtle statue. Good use of that radar dish piece. I am a bit disturbed by the stone skull, though. What does it mean?
