  1. Gov. Guilder made his way along the dock to greet his fellow Eslandians. "Secretary Bowditch! Captain Whiffo! I hope you had fair seas for your trip. Welcome to Puerto Desafio, and thank you for getting to Isla de Victoria so quickly." "Yes, yes, we had favorable winds," replied Eslandola's Secretary of State. "So, what is the current state of affairs up north?" "Montoya has sent us the Corrie demands, and I have replied with our positions on the matter. I have a carriage waiting to take us up the road to Malto. We have agreed to meet in no-man's-land." "Give me five minutes with that Montoya fellow and he'll see the light!" bellowed Capt. Whiffo. "Perhaps we should keep the good captain in reserve, so to speak," Guilder suggested softly. "Yes, I see your point," replied Bowditch. "He's sort of a human powder keg, isn't he?" "Far in reserve..." added Guilder. Bowditch chuckled. "Yes, let's keep the match away from the powder." Bowditch turned to Whiffo. "Captain, would you be so good as to liaison with Mayor Alkurda and see how he's doing with the building programs here in Puerto Desafio?" "Certainly! I'll whip things into shape here in a jiffy!" replied Capt Whiffo loudly. "There, that's a win right off the bat," declared Bowditch. "Yes, quite so," replied Guilder with a grin. As they walked to the carriage, Guilder paused momentarily to rub his leg. "Pardon me. I'm still getting used to the pegleg." "Quite alright, Willem. You've acquired quite a memento from the war." "Yes, and I don't plan on getting another one." They resumed walking to the carriage, and Guilder continued. "There has been a recent development in Malto." "Do tell." "We may have been wrong about that Lorenzini fellow. My man Calvo has been up there snooping around, and it doesn't appear he had anything to do with the destruction of the Corrie ship." "Interesting..." Bowditch trailed off in thought. "Back home, Lord Damaximus is singing Lorenzini's praises. He thinks he is the key to our negotiation." "I wouldn't disagree. We need to find out more about him. I have Calvo on it. If Lorenzini is on the up and up, as Montoya claims, this might not be too hard to settle." "Let's hope so," replied Bowditch. "Here, let me help you into the carriage." And the journey over rough roads to Malto began...
  2. Glad to help. The improved picture looks much better. Good job!
  3. I really like that burned out building, and the look of those WGO troops.
  4. Well, this is an interesting development! The photography is nicely done, zoomed in on the hired bottle thrower. Great figure posing and head choice, and I really like your Molotov cocktail.
  5. Aaron van der Meede, Philip Janszen, and Gov. Guilder (by proxy) cast 3 votes for option 3d.
  6. Queen vs fortune teller is going to be a battle. So should elf vs rogue. Tough round!
  7. Aaron van der Meede spoke: While Gov Guilder, Sec. Bowditch, Capt. Whiffo, and Gov. Monezterrell are all on Isla de Victoria negotiating with Corrington, is it wise to undercut one of their negotiating points? We can advise them of our sentiments in the matter, but we need to give them all the ammunition possible with which to confront the Corries. I propose we table this vote to allow negotiations to proceed unimpaired.
  8. Congrats to Oleon slipping past the Corries to tender aid to the refugees. Eslandola thanks you for your humanitarian effort! As for the build, lovely ship! I love the general shape and period styling. The beach and dock are also well done.
  9. Tanks. Yes, that is the set, so it is really a MOD rather than a MOC. And thanks re the rocks and water. I'm still gaining confidence with my rockwork. Thanks. Yes, I felt it was necessary to have more than just the tower. Thanks. In this case, however, it appears order was restored here some time ago as the fighting moved north.
  10. To Don Isaac Montoya, Consul and Representative of Queen Annetta of Corrington, Sec. of State Bowditch and Capt. Whiffo are currently en route to Isla de Victoria. Gov. Monezterrell is already with the troops around Malto. Once Bowditch and Whiffo arrive, we will make our way to Malto as well. I am sending word to Monezterrell to have our troops set up a suitable meeting place in no-man's-land between our forces on the outskirts of the settlement. Your cooperation in this matter is clearly appreciated. Your opening positions for these negotiations are quite extreme. I must admit they would have made me laugh if the situation was not so serious. And as these are negotiations, it is yet to be determined whether you will be able to keep your promises. Needless to say, we disagree greatly with your positions. Our base positions are that: -Corrington's actions are a violation of the sovereign territory of Eslandola as recognized by all the civilized nations of the Brick Seas, AND a blatant violation of the non-aggression pact signed by your queen shortly before your operation began. -International law recognizes Eslandola's claim of Malto as its own, and Corrington has no legal standing in this matter. Rest assured that the citizens of Malto are in no danger from us, and we are prepared to grant them considerable freedom under the governorship of Eslandola. -We believe Captain Lorenzini to be in violation of the treaty signed with Mardier ending the war; it is yet to be seen whether he is a sabotuer and/or a war criminal, but we believe this must be investigated and adjudicated. Regarding the lesser, general issues, I will leave those for later, but suffice it to say for now that, if Corrington recognizes the error of its ways in this matter and accepts the rule of law rather than the musket, any affronts upon your honor by our citizens will be assuaged, and amiable relations between our two nations can be fully restored. I look forward to our finally meeting face to face in the near future. I believe we are reasonable men who can act reasonably. Sincerely, Gov. Willem Guilder Member, Continental Council of Eslandola
  11. All official negotiations should be conducted with a representative of Eslandola's Continental Council. -Willem Guilder, of Eslandola's Continental Council

  14. CD, no apology is necessary. Eslandola is where the drama tends to be! I must admit that I did not react well to this storyline OOC initially, but I tried to keep it behind the scenes -- in the court and in PMs. That initial frustration was born out of my ignorance of the Corrington players' frame of reference and their ignorance of the Eslandola players' frame of reference. But I cooled down and got over it, and the resulting IC thrust-parry-riposte has been fun. Do I want to have this kind of fun all the time? No way! But it has certainly spurred a lot of building and storytelling creativity that is ultimately good for the game, as long as we keep it in perspective. My 2 cents.
  15. OOC: @Bregir, I'm thinking we could actually do some MOCs for this and carry on the debate IC in a dedicated thread. It would also help slow down the problematic speed/time element to the current situation. Additionally, it would be interesting to get the sigfigs all together in one place for storytelling purposes. Food for thought.
  16. I will believe Captain Morgan is dead when I see his corpse. Until then, he lives forever in the Brick Seas. Wonderful stories and builds to tell the tale. I love how the sea seems so real with the sinking ship and tentacle coming from below! And where does the Poseidon/Hades hand come from? It is all worthy of the minfig who was larger than life!
  17. That's why I included it in the end-of-war pic at the end of the challenge. It is the defining feature of the island.
  18. Well, being 7 hours behind the folks in Europe makes for a lot of reading in the morning! I will try to make some brief comments for now and try to be more detailed later. @Ayrlego, thank you for your post. This has led to good discussion and a better understanding of both sides' positions. @Maxim I, thank you for your detailed response to Ayrlego. I think you hit most of the points that needed to be addressed from the ESL side. @Bregir, sorry for all the work this has caused you. I know how you feel! @Garmadon, your reply above really helps as well, stated much better than I could have done. Thank you. One thing I want to highlight from Garmadon's reply: This is actually where the confusion of KMA started. We DID plan on claiming Skaford Heights and were in the process of deciding which other island to claim. The island was not listed as claimed by Mardier when originally posted. Then all of a sudden Mardier had claimed an island when we didn't think we were on the clock against them. So, besides all the other issues with Mardier at the time, that element is important for understanding why we responded with KMA as we did. FYI. That's all for the moment. I'll try to be back with more soon. Thanks to everyone for their contributions to making this game more interesting than I ever imagined! --------------------------------------------------- Attention @Bregir: To Don Isaac Montoya, consul and representative of Queen Annetta of Corrington, Given the developments of the past 24 hours, the Continental Council of Eslandola has instructed me to rescind the offer I proposed yesterday. In it's place, we ask that you allow us into the settlement to administer aid without condition, other than that you will not be treated as hostile, nor will we, but rather as the friends we believe our two countries to be. If this is not possible, we will not enter the settlement, but we will implement a full land and sea blockade of the settlement. Any refugees who wish to leave will be allowed to do so. They will be provided food and temporary shelter, and transport to Puerto Desafio if desired. We then suggest that our leaders convene for truce talks, where we can discuss a peaceable solution to this situation. I eagerly await your reply, and hope that our nations can return to our previously friendly relationship and respect of the international laws of the Brick Seas. Sincerely, Gov. Willem Guilder Member, Eslandola Continental Council
  19. Thanks. I can't take too much credit for the wagon design, though. It is lightly modified from Gandalf's cart in one of the LOTR sets. But it is nice, and so I drop it into a scene occasionally when needed. I forget where I saw someone use the green hair for heads of lettuce or whatever, but I immediately jotted that one down so I would remember it. And the angled base kind of just came together. I just needed room for the cart and people, but it really wound up adding a lot to the scene as a whole. Thanks! Thanks. The house was one I started a few months ago and never finished, so I actually did have to deconstruct it some to create the damage. Thanks, but i think you mean the war that Mardier caused. Thanks. As noted above, the house was already partially built, and the cart is in essence one of my standard props. I'm very happy with how the base really brought the scene together. Thank you!
  20. Small watchtower at La Puebloto | Capt Wolf | Eslandola
  21. Settlement Name: La Puebloto Ownership: Eslandola Crown Location: Isla de Victoria Mayor: TBD Trade Value: 0 Who can own property in La Puebloto: Anyone. Who can freebuild in La Puebloto: Anyone. Fortifications: One small fort. Please post any free-builds that take place in La Puebloto in this thread. If you want to license a piece of property in La Puebloto, post in this thread and fill out the web form. Location of La Puebloto:
  22. The war between Mardier and Eslandola had devastated the Mardierian city of La Puebloto. Much of the fighting happened in and around the city. As such, civilians fled to other settlements on the island, mainly the former Terra Fin Tin, long ago. Now the city is in ruins, and there is no one here. However, lest anyone think Eslandola has overlooked any needy refugees, Eslandolan troops have rebuilt a small Mardiedrian watchtower on an abnormally rocky (for this bay) piece of the coast. It probably served more as a warning to sailors to stay clear of the hazard than anything else, but Eslandolan troops now man the tower and make sure no refugees are overlooked in La Puebloto. Eventually they hope to rebuild the city. --- A quick build to address the current situation on Isla de Victoria. It will be licensed as a small fort. The tower began life as a Kingdoms set, but has been greatly modified. All C&C welcome.
  23. OOC: If you need time, we can wait, but we will also wait to respond to your subsequent demands. It's not like I haven't been in contact with the vast majority of active ESL players today. So we can respect your need for time, but don't expect us to reorder the sequence of events to help you out.
