[ESL - FB] New Haven School & The Blues Inn
Capt Wolf replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very colorful! I like the shape of the schoolhouse. The Redcoats on the street is a nice nod to the location. And I really like the effect of the flowers and vegetation in the foreground of the low shots. Very nice! -
[ESL - FB] MAESTRO Warehouse at Puerto Desafio
Capt Wolf replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like this micro build. You've succeeded in maintaining the style of your regular-sized builds. The dark blue rather than regular blue is a nice touch for the water, and I think your road technique is quite clever and effective!- 7 replies

True to its word, Eslandola sent workers to New Haven to help build a new settlement for the refugees that chose not to stay in Malto. Corrington had already started to build houses for them, but the refugees needed more than housing. One of the first buildings the Eslandolan workers built was a small tower mill that could grind grain into flour. Admittedly, the plasterer needs to return for a second pass at completing his job, but the mill is already operational. The refugees can now mill grain supplied by Corrington into flour. When the refugees are harvesting their own grain, they will be well on their way to handling their own food needs. Some additional views: This property can be licensed as a small factory. -------------- This build started as an attempt to see what I could do with some of those angled wall panels and the angled door frame. I didn't think it was looking very good as I started, but getting some brick details onto the other walls started to help, and when the roof and sails went on it improved a bunch. The top rotates as it should, as do the sails. All C&C welcome.

[COR - Aug FB] Armoury, Port Woodhouse

Another great-looking build from you! I like the weapons racks, and the little details like the hat on the coat tree, and the leaves/vines/flowers on the roof. Excellent!- 11 replies

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Fermentation Stage
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I missed this when initially posted. Nice continuation of the royal factory! It has the appropriate architectural cues from the previous builds, but has some nice features of its own, such as the decorative arches at the top of the roofline. The greenery around the base of the building is nice, evoking that colonial feel. And the fermenting pits are very convincing. The process may not be exciting, but you've presented it well with a very polished build. -
[SR - FB3 July 17] a mouse study
Capt Wolf replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fun story! And I like the "treehouse" look of the tower. Nice job of getting away from square edges! However, I did half expect to see the Dread Pirate Roberts at some point, but I guess those are ROUSes, not MOUSes. -
Thanks! Thanks! Every town should have a fountain or statue on the town square, I think. Looking forward to what you come up with for Elysabethtown. Thanks. The monkey was a must, of course! As for the hat ... Thanks. And Ayrlego has revealed my deception. I painted the forester's hat! If I worked in LDD, no one would care, but since I work in real bricks... I had various white hair options, and even some white hat options (although none were very period or subject appropriate), but the forester's hat really made the statue, so I indulged in a small bit of heresy. Thanks (and thanks for suggesting a music-themed build). I'm glad I was able to come up with something that fit with the character of the settlement.

I'm not sure if that process would work, but I like the build, and fantastic figure posing, as in all your builds! Nice use of dark brown, and I like the intentionally uneven floor tiles. Nice effect! The open attic is a nice feature as well.

Bardo is known for it annual music festival, and one of the constant reminders of the importance of music in this island town is the statue of the Pied Piper at the center of a small fountain near the center of town. Children and animals seem drawn to the statue. Some say the wind plays an alluring tune when it blows around the statue at just the right direction off the ocean. And local custom has turned the fountain into a wishing well. And it's not just children who throw coins in the well; couples also believe the fountain brings good luck. A view of the full build: ------------ A quick build to add a small art & culture property to Bardo. All C&C welcome.

[COR - Jul FB] Infantry Barracks, Port Woodhouse
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely build, instantly recognizable as your style! The car fenders as arches above the windows is a nice detail, and the rough gray foundation and dark tan and earth colors mixed into the wall give it that proper colonial feel. And I just discovered those olive palm leaves recently; I have some on order! All around nice build!- 13 replies

I'm enjoying the story, and it's fun to see a phlogisphere make another appearance in BoBS. And for some reason I really like the Crowned Pigglet, especially knowing its origin. It has character, and I enjoy those kinds of personal building challenges.
-
I like your piece choices for the ship under construction, and the micro slip itself is pretty cool! Neat basing for the build, too.
-
Nice build. The cut-away technique is perfect here, and having the building up on stilts is appropriate for this island. Nice chandelier, and the railing along the dock is a nice feature. All around . And I, too, am envious of your sand green bricks.

I knew Lady de Summer wasn't to be trusted! Excellent job again! And the Norwegian Blue speaks! I'm glad to learn it's not pining for the fjords. Part 1 has been very entertaining. I hope we don't have to wait too long for Part 2 to begin.

New Ship Classes - The Transition
Capt Wolf replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
FWIW, the Wolf uses the same hull pieces (small prefab with two middles) and roughly the same sail plan as CGH's El Matador, which is a class 4. I agree the Wolf is at the bottom end of class 4, but I do think it reaches that level. The cabin hanging off the back end, lower build, and general aesthetics make the Wolf look skinnier. -
Ah, I missed this earlier. I love the statue, and the park is well designed with the tree planters and such. The team painting really adds the right touch!
-
Excellent build! My favorite parts are the colorful flowering undergrowth on the island and the great wave effect you've created in the water. This is one of my favorite water builds I've seen. And of course, the boat. I'm going to have to try my hand at some brick-built rowboats; you've done a wonderful job here.
-
VERY cool! Great story/history, and a fantastic job of interpreting the linked image. The use of the carved lion head piece in the statues is excellent. And of course fantastic jungle foliage. The SNOT elements of the stone structure look great. And the background works quite well. My only criticism is that the water didn't quite work for me; the visible pattern hurt the effect. But that is a minor thing. You did a great job with the irregular edge of the water. Overall, amazing MOC. After the teasers, you didn't disappoint!

[SR - FB 2 July 17] Essential turtles
Capt Wolf replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice beach build, and a clever "plantation"! But don't let the sea turtle god find out you're harvesting eggs! -
Excellent build U-M! Good use of that new angled plate piece. The bumbling students with their weapons is a comic highlight! Well done! And a clever build for an educational property.
