Your locomotive is very satisfying to look at, as it has just the right amount of detail, and no ridiculous color scheme.

[HELP] Exposing Motor to Snow
Beck replied to Pego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego motors are suprising resilient to the elements. I've gotten an IR receiver drenched in rainwater causing it to short out, but after a few hours of drying it was in working order. A few years ago I made an RC boat that capsized sending all of the pf elements into the water. After a few hours of drying, can you guess what happened? .... Yes, they were in working order. In conclusion, I wouldn't be even the slightest bit worried about snow. -
I think this is a great WIP. I like that you chose a more unique vehicle to model, and after looking at the pictures that you provided I seems your chassis might be 2 studs too wide. Honestly I cant really tell, but so far you've done a nice job with the curves at the front. I would try to add more red into the front of the truck, as right now it's mostly black. I dont really understand your suspensions system. You say it has independent suspension, but then mention that they work as if they were floating axles. Could just be me. As for the firefighting apparatus on top, I would opt for the "extendable arm" for two reasons, 1. The point of attachment for the simple swinging turret is kind of awkward as it's right above the cabin, which could mean mounting motors in the cab. The extendable arm could be mounted further back giving you more space to mount. 2. It looks like you would have the room to mount more motors and receivers in the truck. Are you thinking of making a working water pump?

Mesmerizing! Awesome work! -
Hi Everyone! With an eventual goal of a "town/city"layout I created a four different types of cargo wagons to haul. All are built with the 7wide scale in mind and are based off of real astra rail wagons. I hope to be bricklinking them over the next months whenever time allows. http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/Beck/train_mocs/cargo-cars (I have included the lxf if you want to have a look for yourself) If you have any suggestions to improve them please let me know! Thanks very much!

Great little creation! Would be a perfect addition to any holiday village. Too bad no one thought to add a pulley around the "steering wheel" to be able to steer the vehicle from the cabin. I can imagine the "steersman" yelling at the engineer who would be completely oblivious.

To me MOCs are very sentimental and I would NEVER sell them even if the compensation was very very generous (upwards of 10k). I believe that if the person is respectful, they should know when enough is enough, and in your case they have crossed a line. If this behavior continues you might be able to report them. It's quite gracious of you to write a page detailing your model and make video. Sometimes people just aren't aware, for instance, that you made the model for yourself, it's your hobby, and your intro a outro are quite eplicit that you don't want to sell your models. What a total narcissist.

MOC/WIP MAN TGA 8x8
Beck replied to Beck's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Update: I received my bricklink order including the long pneumatic pump and pannels to build the cabin and bed. I have completed both autopumps and the two front axles Photos are in my bricksafe as always. Happy thanksgiving to those who are celebrating! -
Superb overall look and great functionality. My only gripe is that the outriggers stick out. Did you use some type of lining inside the brick water tank to make it waterproof? I would assume so since lego bricks aren't watertight. To improve the length of the waterstream you could put (or cut) a very short piece of pneupatic tubing constrict the tubing by placing two 1x2 plates on either side of the tubing in a 1 stud length. Hopefully this makes sense. If you wanted more steady stream, you could use a small plastic water bottle as the water container and cut two holes in the cap. You would then stick one pneumatic tube through each hole One would be connected to your compressor and the other to your nozzle. There are many demonstrations of this on youtube.

MOC/WIP MAN TGA 8x8
Beck replied to Beck's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Update: I have just completed the first of two steered axles. I am currently in a conundrum as to how many XL motors to use. Given my current setup of 2XL motors, I would have practically no space for two autovalve pumps, I would have to only use one XL motor to fit the two autopumps inside the chasis (ideally on either side of the XL motor, between the two sets of axles. Photos are in my bricksafe as always. Thanks! Yeah I know my suspension setup is unrealistic, but given the scale and my personal dislike of leaf springs, I think my setup shall be just fine. -
Hello Everyone! Since it's the very short time of year where snow falls in my area, I decided I on a MAN TGA 8x8 Plow truck. Here are my inspirations: http://carblueprints...8x8-chassis.gif http://2.bp.blogspot...ow-plow-mod.jpg I have completed the two rear axles and waiting on a bricklink order for the two frontal axles. I am working on two pneumatic autovalves each with one pump. To fit the autovalve/pumps inside the chassis, I would only have space for 1XL motor instead of two. Here are some pictures of my progress. http://bricksafe.com/pages/Beck/technic_mocs/man-8x8- Comments, Criticism are most welcome and are appreciated. (links should be working now)

[MOD] Horizon Express - double PF in one cab
Beck replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That's one expensive train! The only two I can spot is that the two white arrows are further apart and are longer. That's all I've got. I'd love to see how it runs compared to just one motor. -
I really like this one! Runs nice and smooth. Make sure you put some weight over the bogie like a 2x8 54g weight.

Tow Truck
Beck replied to beelzibus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks awesome! The only minor problem is that the rear axles look a bit bent/stressed. But I guess that is to be expected of such a large model. The flashing lights always seem to entrance me! -
Great work! The trucks are very very nice!

Trainstation "Bricktopia" - my first trainstation MOC
Beck replied to Meisterschnorrer's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I love this! Honestly one of the best stations I've seen in a while. My ony concern is that the front of the station seems a bit too old for the modern platforms. But other than that, it's absolutely excellent! -

Beck replied to Beck's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks for all of you responses and solutions! It seems that until the Dr Who set comes out I may just have to make do with the pieces LEGO provides. From the pictures available it does look like there's a possibility that the 1x1 brick with knob may be released in dark blue! http://www.brothers-brick.com/tag/doctor-who/ Tenderlok, it's 7 wide. -
Hi Everyone! The question is stated above; What do you do when there's a part you need in a color that isn't made? For my case: http://bricksafe.com/pages/Beck/train_mocs I need the 1x1 brick with knob in dark blue ("earth blue"). Do you paint it? Do you use stickers? Any ideas Are appreciated Thanks in advance, Beck

Very neat idea. I will have to try this myself.
