Hello Everyone, I've been working on a many models over the past few months and have completed a few and am still working on some. I'd love to hear some feedback. The first is a refrigerated 2 axle cargo wagon "hbbills-uy." I decided to build two of these to add to my TRAXX and four axle cargo wagons consist. I've almost completed building both IRL. I am very much aware that they cannot navigate the R40 curves. Here's the real thing. I'm currently missing the handrails and a couple other parts. I am most curious about your thoughts on my suspension details- take a look at the real thing. More The second project is the "eanos" four axle gondola wagon. I've been meaning to build one of these for quite a while now, but was surprisingly difficult. What made the build so difficult was that I wanted the base of the wagon to be seven wide, with the ribs extending to just under 8 wide. Finally I came up with a solution that I am quite happy with. More I wanted to build a freight depot that looked nice, but didn't use too many parts. This is what I came up with: More I also started to build a Siemens Vectron in Fuori Muro livery, because I love dark blue with red and I need another locomotive. I hope to fit 2 XL motors inside. Comments and critique are much appreciated!

Missouri Pacific Union Pacific Heritage EMD SD70ACe in 7 wide

Great consist, however, I can't help but notice the RAF roundel on the first gondola. I believe your engine runs on two L motors, right? Is there any gear reduction before the bogie? Are all of your wagons built using ball bearings since, well, there's a lot of them? How much does each gondola car weight, approximately? -

Very nice build! The color scheme is amazing. I have always wondered why you build base in 7 wide, but your bogie decorations and fuel tank in 8 wide. Any particular reasoning behind this? -

Rotational flexing is usually good. The A arm is the lift arm with a ball socket. -

I found out that the newer uv joints broke under high stress, however the old ones did not- they're basically 1/2 stud longer on each end. You might want an A arm attached to the top of your from tackles since the class motor is far away from the axle. Is the steering provided by linkage or rack and pinion? How's the chassis bending/rigidity(rotational and horizontal flexing)? I really think you can make the drive be provided by a shaft, however I can understand if you don't. Very nice progress!! -

Awesome Arcos SLT! Great job using the system arches for the frontwheels. I think the grille is a bit too tall, but that is my only minor complaint. I'd love to see the underside! -

I'd vote for pneumatic side loader. I don't think the Trakker has portal axles. Your rear axles look very weak at this scale. The rear leaf springs need to be moved further apart. The structure that holds the 6l link is too weak. -

Looking good, however if you're modeling it after an American/Canadian truck, then there is a slight inaccuracy. As far as I know, none of these trucks have rear steered axles. If you wanted to you could move it in front of the driven axles as a lift axle. I know it can be difficult to change things at this stage, but I thought I'd let you know. You're a very fast builder so this probably wont be a problem. -

What model of cabin are you going to use? Scania or MAN? -

I remember sheepo built the chassis of an 8x4 Arcos truck with leaf springs at this scale- look it up. I think you can do better than pendular suspension at this scale. Remember axle 1 and 2 have different steering angles. -

Very very nice! I agree with Milan- probably the entry best thus far. You'd probably want to replace the pins on the armrests with towballs. -
Ok first before you whip out your wallet you need to know EXACTLY what you are building. You need to be specific about the type of swiss train: passenger EMU, passenger train electric, freight DMU (cargo sprinter), freight diesel, freight electric. Do you plan on building 8, 7, or 6 wide? This (http://www.beretta-modelle.ch/modelle/html/mo_sbb_guterwagen.html use the red up arrow at the bottom of the page to navigate to the "home page") is a nice starting point for finding a swiss train if you really don't know where to start. For complex models, I ALWAYS build my prototype in LDD. Then I order all of the parts from bricklink (get a few more of a few of the types of pieces for modifications). Hopefully this will help you get a solid start!

Nice work so far! I understand how difficult these subtle curves can be to replicate in lego. Just wondering, are you going to add a tilting mechanism in the train? I thought I'd post a my pantograph design as it might be of use to you. I also "cheated" a little bit to allow the arm to lay closer to a parallel position to the mounting. Hope this helps.

First of all, thank you very much for the comments! I agree that the side frames could be a bit better. Although it runs quite well due to the gearing of a 1:6.6 ratio from the M motor. It was able to haul two of my 54 stud long cargo wagons, albeit very very slowly. Jtlan is correct, If I were to move the M motor one plate upwards to accommodate the gearing on the 3rd axle, the roof would have to be raised one plate since the receiver sits directly on top of the motor(not even a one plate gap) and the gears connecting the drivetrain to the motor would not mesh. I also forgot to add that the battery box controlled by the 2x2 round plate on the roof, allowing for easy on/off switches.

Hello everyone! Here's my rendition of the PRR B1 switcher. This was my first train MOC that I attempted over a year ago, but didn't really like it. So I tore it apart and created this with which I am quite pleased. Although it's been one of those MOCs where I feel that I'm never sure if its finished. I chose to model the variant with the red lined windows, but without the yellow railings because there aren't yellow droid arms. I chose to power only 4 out of the 6 wheels because I couldn't make drivetrain and powertrain any more compact. What do you think? http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/3/6/7/5367.1362590808.jpg http://www.vistadome.com/trains/rrmuseumpa/prr5690.jpg More Pictures

Bright bluish green is what the color most of us call turquoise. Since the color is not in use and has not been for about a decade (I think) TLG included it in the LDD extended at the bottom of the color palette under "legacy"

[HELP] Building a MAN TGM 18.290 4x4
Beck replied to Beck's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you all for your comments, they were very very helpful! I will probably opt for a rebuild now. The bending you see is the result of no actual connection at the moment the 1x4x2 L beam slots in-between the two liftarms on the gearbox which held the two parts upright so I could take the picture. -
Hello everyone! I have been working on a MAN TGM 18.290 4x4 fire truck and have almost completed the chassis. I worked on the front axle and rear axle+gearbox separately. After completing them and successfully connecting them, I reworked the rear axle+gearbox. I tried to put the two modules back together and found that the two modules don't line up (in the vertical axis) since I tampered with the rear leaf spring setup. Both modules are decently sturdy. More Pictures The truck will be longer than I had expected so I will have room to connect the two modules. Thus far I think there wouldn't be any consequences to continue building. What do you think? Do you agree with me or do you think I'm making a mistake?

These are some very nice wagons you've built. You've definitely captured the tall appearance of the passenger car quite well!
-
Those are some VERY nice models. For some odd reason I love the boxiness of the class 4041. I have been meaning to ask how do you construct your leafsprings on the rear axle of the GWR tank engine. Also how do you attach them to the mainframe? I'm asking because I'm working on one of these.

After reading the flex track thread, I decided to try out and use flex track and straight track to create a large radius curve to test my consist. The videos are in my here. You can also catch a glimpse of two projects that I'm working on

Fantastic alternative LT12V, since the ME models rails are unavailable.

Update: I've finally designed something that might solve the problem with the wagons stated above. I will be bricklinking the parts soon! *LDD file* - it's called Habbins Modified
-
First of all, it appears that you used LDD extended (where you can choose colors of parts that don't exist) for example the rc motor decorators dont come in Dark grey(only black and light bluish grey). I just ordered 3.4k parts for this model via bricklink. I'm not going to lie, it was painful. I ordered the parts from about 8 different stores. On LDD generate the building guide (button top right) and then hit the send button. The partslist is at the bottom of the instructions page. The part #s on the bricklink order sheet are wrong either the element number not the design number so you may have to search google for the design number (to put into bricklink). Good luck!
