Does anyone know of another source for this book other than the No Starch website? The shipping cost for it to get to Australia would be almost as much as the book :(

Does Lego still make non-minifig printed parts?
jonwil replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There are still plenty of non-minifig printed parts. Take this one for example http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87079pb156 or this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=14769pb003 or this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3039pb45 -

Does anyone know when we should start seeing the LEGO Movie sets (and matching Minifigures series) appearing in Oz? -
REVIEW: 70809 Lord Business' Evil Lair
jonwil replied to Clone OPatra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Other than the minifig type parts (including the tail on Biznis Kitty, the legs and headgear on Lord Business etc) are there any new molds in this set? Now that I have seen the review, I am less interested in this set and will probably just add the interesting parts (Biznis Kitty, Ma & Pa Cop, the clear "glue" pieces) to my BL wanted list and buy them eventually. Not enough other parts in this set to make it worth buying when compared to other sets in this line...- 45 replies

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
jonwil replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If that classic space styled ship is a real set (and everything so far indicates it is) then I MUST have it. In my opinion its the closest thing to a true Space set LEGO have come up with in 2 decades.- 2,626 replies

Currently staying with family but I intend to look on the Gold Coast somewhere, quite possibly the Southport area. -

Are there any smaller LEGO shops in South East Queensland I should be aware of or that are worth visiting? I am now officially a Queenslander and need to scope out the local LEGO landscape. Oh and yes I am well aware of BUGS and will be hooking up sometime in the new year (if the BUGS people will welcome someone from the other side of the country that is :) -

I have an idea for a Cuusoo set that would include all the parts required to build 1 of n different models (ala the Creator sets). Does anyone know/can someone find out if (with the recent rule changes) such product ideas are allowed? BTTF was a 3-in-1 model but the changes between each model were minor. Mine would be multiple models such that each model was a total rebuild (i.e. build first model, disassemble it, build second, disassemble it, build third, etc) More specifically my idea is for 4 or so designs of 6-wide City style car (sedan, hatchback, UTE/pickup and 1 more maybe) where many of the parts are shared between each design. (wheels, wheel arches, windscreens, roof parts, front and rear end parts, doors, basic plates/slopes/bricks/tiles, minifig drivers etc) Done right I think it would be attractive to those looking for a nice variety of generic civilian cars to populate their towns.

Reading the rules I think the new rule about logos/mascots is targeted at Purdue Pete and that Android thing and not so much at things like the Apple store or that Ice Pilots DC3 or the Apollo/NASA Lunar Module (where the logos are being used in the context of an actual LEGO model) I like the way that have been more explicit about "new parts" and not showing your models with new element designs in them (e.g. the Zelda headpiece) or with 3rd party/clone brand parts. I do wonder what they would do if you showed a model featuring long-discontinued parts. I also wonder what the policy is regarding existing parts in new colors (we know they can green-light such things for Cuusoo sets, look at Doc's hair in the BTTF set) I also like the rejection of things that contain mostly minifigs with no specific set idea attached or of "theme" ideas with no clearly defined set.

I suspect LEGO (or Disney/Marvell) have made the decision that all the Spider-Man sets are going to be Ultimate-Spider Man based and therefore will contain the USM version of Spidey. Same with Avengers, LEGO have made the decision to follow Avengers Assemble and not the movies or other cartoons.
