Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion
jonwil replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Licensed
I just hope it wont be too expensive in Oz. Looking at shop @ home, basically all 2014 sets priced at $50 in the US are priced at $80 in Australia so hopefully the Ecto-1 follows suit and doesn't end up at $90 or $100. -

Its been confirmed in this thread already that there are NO stickers in this set, just like the BTTF set had NO stickers. -

Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary CUUSOO set Discussion

This is AWESOME. Definitely a day one purchase for me (doubly so since the guy who made the set is a Brisbane local :) So many wonderful parts like the double-sided heads, the proton packs, the use of Indiana Jones whips as the cables connecting the packs to the guns, the barbell weights from the CMF series as hubcaps, the torsos on the guys (printing the full names would have been too hard given the size LEGO works at), all the lovely detail on the roof of the car and the no-ghost logos. Everything is printed too which is a plus. The ONE thing I would change if I could change anything would be to have a printed-with-diagonal-stripes 1 x 2 tile for the ghost trap instead of a grille tile. But given that the set already has 11 new printings (4 heads, 4 torsos, license plate, proton pack and GB logo) I can see why they went with the grille tile. -
IIRC some new rule in the EU or something forced them to stop using the glow-in-the-dark pigment they were using for the Monster Fighters stickers/prints. No idea if TLG has a different (and presumably OK under EU law) pigment they could use for that.

I haven't seen the Marvel stuff in Oz yet unless you want the Jr Spider-Man set (which I did see in a Target the other day) Personally I am hoping the AIM Lab set is better value than the Hellicarrier set was.

I can't see them doing the nuclear plant either because of all the anti-nuke activists who would complain.

It wouldn't surprise me if the designers and people who work on the City theme WANT to do another Octan Gas Station but the marketing and product development people who make the ultimate decisions have crunched the numbers (e.g. based on the sales figures and popularity of sets like 7993 or based on focus group testing) and decided that an Octan Gas Station wont sell well enough (do kids of the target age for City product like gas stations these days?)

Good point, helicopters are cool (and fun to build too having built several including police choppers, medivac choppers, a news helicopter and others)

Spotted a couple Haunted Houses left at Chermside earlier today. Also spotted an Arkham at MYER Centre if anyone wants one in the Super Heroes sale that starts tomorrow. -
Homer's suit wouldn't necessarily need a new mold for the helmet, they could probably get away with using the helmet from the CMF radiation suit guy, only in a different color.

I don't get why LEGO seems to make so many helicopters... In 2013, we got one in the fire station, one as part of the coast guard ship, the big coast guard helicopter, the cargo tilt-rotor, 3 helicopters in Creator sets and 1 in an Iron Man 3 set. This year so far we already have 3 police choppers, 3 in the Arctic line, 3 in Creator (one set makes 2 different helicopter styles), 1 in NinjaGo, 1 in a Batman set, 1 in a Spiderman set, 1 in Technic and 1 in the LEGO Movie Rescue Reinforcements set plus others I may not have heard about or may have forgotten (e.g. does Ultra Agents have any?)

I for one would also like the next d2c set for Superheroes to be a Marvel set.

It doesn't look like the same vine piece as the Duplo one in that link. Still cant tell what color the medical accessories in the jungle set are, not sure if they are white or if they are light aqua like the last set of medical accessories (white would be much more useful to me...)

These are actually nicer than I thought and have a few nice looking parts. The agent figs (what we can see of them) look much better than the ones in the last Agents series (more like spies than the action hero agents of the last line)

Whats keeping me from building right now is not a lack of ideas or a lack of inspiration but the fact my LEGO is packed up in moving boxes whilst I look for an apartment (currently staying with family)

No, the LEGO Movie sets haven't hit Australia yet (and probably wont for at least a month or so). That shopforme price of $44.99 is higher than the Shop @ Home price of $39.99 which is a sign that its been grey-market imported. Blame Warner Bros Australia for releasing the movie 2 months after everywhere else in the world gets it for some stupid BS reason. -

The pricing of Orthanc on shopforme clearly shows that its a grey-market import. -

Some reports from another forum: Rumors are that Orthanc wont be comming to Australia, that MYER is getting the Ewok Village and that the CUUSOO BTTF and Mars Rover sets are going to be general releases (i.e. not exclusive to a particular store). How reliable these are we dont know. Toyworld is going to be doing a sale soon, spend $39.99 on City and get http://brickset.com/sets/30228-1/Police-ATV or spend $39.99 on Friends and get http://brickset.com/sets/30114-1/Andrea-s-Beach-Lounge -
Can anyone ID what color the medical accessories in that picture are? And are those accessories any use with minifigs or are they too big to work?

When I first saw this it took me a few seconds to realize that yes this was in fact LEGO. Great job, very cool spaceship.
