  1. While we've got some attention on the forum, can we have an open discussion about where SoNE is going post-RotJ/TFA? As our timeline has played out, I'm sure we can still get a few OT(RotJ) episodes in before the Empire falls, but that second Death Star explosion is quickly approaching. I imagine it'll take some time for everybody to build up their TFA armies, but the break up of the Empire should create some interesting factions and dynamics for this thread. For example, we've got 4 100+ players on each team (or we will after this episode is scored), what if each 100+ player gets to create their own faction and try to recruit <100 builders? That would definitely create a great incentive to both new and older builders. As builders get to 100+, they could create their own faction or attempt to dethrone their faction's leader by outscoring them in an episode. New factions could mean new color schemes, aesthetics, characters, ships, etc. Whatever we do or whatever is planned, I think a very important aspect is transparency from the organizers. I'm worried that secrecy between episodes is hurting character development and the ability to create better MOCs and I don't see the point of keeping everybody in the dark.
  2. That's funny, mine was a last minute(week) DEmotion, you definitely got some great results in such a short amount of time
  3. Thanks for all the comments. @Beltar - my ships are rarely sturdy enough for more than a few swooshes. The outer/upper parts of the hull were problematic partly because of the angles I was working on in the front section (this also meant that I didn't get a good seal on the top, which you can see is loose in the last shot). the back part also had some durability problems because of the angles which just would force me to mainly handling it from the bottom and just be hind the doors. @Nom - this contest was a difficult one to fit my MIA ISB officer and low-level, screw-up stormtrooper into. Whatever Goatm does do, he'll continue to be an Imperial, and ZW is too simple to become idealistic
  4. NPU on the walls and I like that center console. the overall layout and color scheme don't really scream Imperial to me, but it is a cool layout
  5. beautiful ship, definitely looks like an nice evolution of the clone transports and police gunships from CW. some interior shots would've been nice. the white tiles above the floor are a bit strange (lots of tripping, I'm sure) maybe extending the base so they would fit in between those large plates would've helped and there wouldn't be too many remaining studs left behind. great job greebling the border, I wish you had mentioned you were doing that so I could've done the same to mine
  6. cool layout, I did feel a little bit lost during the first part of you story so an establishing shot would've helped. zooming in too much on the action hurts my brain a bit because i can't get a sense of the larger scene. I think there are some areas where you could've done more greebles and/or less printed tiles. if you connect the greebles more they won't stand out as much as individual parts, putting them in patterns helps, too. that door is excellent and the white/lbg walls have a nice repetition and smoothness to them. the dbg and trans red walls look great too, the best use of slopes is definitely in that upper level room where the transport has smashed through. I agree that the transport body is a bit too mountain-like. some curved bricks may have helped that some, or large wheels.
  7. nice details in the walls, maybe a little too much white and I don't really get the clear bricks, but I did try to mimic some of your features in my build because they were great dbg greebling. the half closed door is cool although a different color or even layering a shot of your hallway behind it would've helped it look more realistic, as is, it looks like you just cut a square out of the back section of the hallway (i should have thought of that before the deadline when you showed your WIPs, oops).
  8. great first shot, the angle is just right and the hallway looks good. the door could use some detail to make it look less like a wall, and the final room is too unfinished to have been included. there are quite a few spots where some tiles could have really cleaned up the random studs. great snot work on the floor
  9. nice in-universe shots
  10. good snot work, a few strips of color would help, i hope we'll see many more sci-fi mocs in the future
  11. very cool design, the extra thick walls look nice, the color scheme seems more like a blend between Tantive 4 and the Death Star, but it certainly has a SW feel to it. Great posing on the minifigures, it looks very action-packed. I think you lost an opportunity to do something more interesting with the border, but the simplicity is good because it keeps the focus on the battle. excellent photography as always. great job
  12. I was blown away by the first shot alone, this very well may be the bast SoNE MOC to date (which is saying a lot!). The photography is beautiful and the focus really makes your build look bigger and more realistic. Your usual low angle shots look great and you displayed that ceiling perfectly, which is well greebled but simple and smooth. The individual focus on each trooper is great and your attention to ZW was very cool. I didn't even know there was a Zabraki language out there, but it was a good way to "give orders" to such a low level stormtrooper in a hurried meeting among more important characters. I'm really having to nitpick to find criticisms here. I don't like seeing dark gray in the first shot (mainly because that color is just so substandard compared to dbg and I hate coming across it mixed in with my bricks), The hallway floors may have looked better SNOT'd instead of plated. all of those studs are a little strange. although I don't know of a solution to it, seeing the bottoms of the minifigure's feet is always weird and makes them look like toddlers. And, of course, I hate yellows, but that's your thing and I'm glad somebody is buying up all of those worthless heads.
  13. glad to have you aboard, don't worry about the graphic violence, i've never gotten a complaint about my bloodier mocs and there's something about minifigures that just makes gratuitous violence funny(er)
  14. that's a big, beautiful hangar. I like the overall shape of the ship and the y-wing cockpit but I think you missed some opportunities to make it a bit cleaner, I also don't really get why you did a separate crew module section for the attack squad, especially when the space is so similar to the mid section of your ship. I think it would look more fluid if you had added that module to the middle of your ship or replaced the section above it. there are some really interesting details throughout, like the dbg telephones on the dbg domes and the top of the crew module, but a few too many studs for my taste on the back end and on the base. I also think you could use a few more engines to fill the empty spaces in the back. I hope you don't mind the harsh critique, I didn't see a request for C&C in you post, but based on your skill I assume you're a mature builder that would appreciate the notes
  15. I like that color scheme on the A-Wing and those are some interesting greebles on the wall. I think straightening and/or connecting the lbg parts would help it look more cohesive.
  16. Zabrak Stormtrooper ZW-461 had simple orders straight from the Commander himself; "do everything the Sarge says and don't screw up." It sounds simple, but ZW had seemed to find the end of the Sarge's whip a lot recently. Now his simple orders were getting complicated. He was suppose to get a injured trooper to a back up ship and ZW had no idea where to find the ship. Even worse, they had fallen in with another squad and ZW forgot which trooper he was suppose to be transporting. Oh well, first things first, finding a ship... "...transporter? nope. transporter? nope. transporter? oh finally... "...huh, those markings look familiar... "Oh yeah, one of the farms back home use to sell to that corporation. This Survey Corps Unit must use them as a supplier." "Oh good, the hatch is open. Hopefully the pilot is in there and ready to go. If he is, I'll just tell him to wait while I go find TK-something something..." [ZW] "Hey! You're already here? And you fly? Oops, I think I just closed the hatch." [Goatm] "Yeah... I'm that guy... strap in we're taking off." [ZW] "Yeah, sure! I'll just grab on up here. So how do you know how to fly? I didn't think that was covered in the academy... "Wait a second?!? Where's your mustache? And pauldron? Awe man... I'm in trouble... Can you let me out? I've got to find a guy with a pauldron and a mustache." [Goatm] "No..." [Ep X] 08 - empty hangar by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr [ZW] "Oh, okay... where're we going, any way?" [Goatm] "I remember when I was in the Survey Corps. Seems a thousand years ago." [ZW] "Oh, cool, but I've really got to get back and..." [Goatm] "I had been test piloting this very shuttle when the ISB requisitioned me and the shuttle for a mission. Three of these assassins convened just over my shoulder. "They were taking a team to clear out a Zabrak colony in a worthless sector of the Outer Rim. Some poor bastards that just wanted to be left alone. "The colonists were slaughtered and on the trip home I opened the hatch and let the hit squad suck vacuum. These men embraced horror. Horror and moral terror without any thought of their personal morality and purpose. They were monsters." [Goatm] "A Zabrak in the Imperial ranks is nothing but a monster. There is no personal morality you could serve in concert with the Empire." [ZW] "Where are we? Are you going to kill me?" [Goatm] "We're on one of the moons orbiting Bothawui Prime. There's an Imperial Outpost to the east, a port with plenty of work to the west. Get out." To be continued... Goatm's new ship is a modified Gamma-Class Assault Shuttle commissioned to the Survey Corps. Goatm took advantage of the Suprosa assault to grab this long distance shuttle and to get access to current Imperial records. ZW-461 did not fulfill his orders from Commander Kirana to "not screw up." C&C appreciated.
  17. 340 to Danny, please.
  18. 40 to Bob (from my stash) and 350 to Kodan (from the pool). Please & thank you.
  19. I like the vehicle except for the front driver section. I think you could have given it a much more interesting shape by getting away from the 4x plate
  20. awesome shaping on the cockpit and engine. I will steal a version of that windshield design eventually
  21. great looking sub, i think the arms would have looked better without the large joints, instead of using hinges, you could build multiple arms in different poses if you need them to be positioned differently from shot to shot. but i actually don't see any different arm positions between your shots so i'm wondering why have the hinges at all. I also don't really understand what the right arm is. the other issue I have is with your set up, the large rock and base plates are unnecessary, so I don't think you should use them at all, they cheapen your scene. a clean shot of your sub would have been better. the lighting is an interesting trick, as long as you follow up with well lit spoiler shots (which you did). great use of technic paneling and cockpit shaping
  22. Thanks for the comments. @Joe - I don't have any pictures but it's basically 4 of these, the long ends line up flush and 2 of the short ends are pinned from the top and 2 pinned from the bottom. there is no gear mechanism. the wing positions stay in place by bricks or plates bracing them at the correct angles.
  23. very creative and nice variety, i can't wait to see more Rebels and TFA micros
  24. @Bob - We didn't get credits for our alien builds, whenever those go through, please transfer mine to the pool. Thanks
  25. NPU, it just needs some white and red and you're ready to join us in Andromeda's Gate!
