  1. Great to have you back, Danny. Very interesting story arc, I can see you having a lot of fun with this one. The (civil?) buildings are really cool too, very alien-looking.
  2. What he said. The whole front end is beautiful. And great work on the photography and subtle base
  3. Does anybody edit with a Mac? Long story short, I'm trying to switch over from my laptop to my wife's old Mac but haven't been able to get GIMP to work correctly. I was also considering getting a Wacom tablet http://www.wacom.com/en-us. Does anybody use one of these? Or do you have an alternative to a mouse for editing? I'm not sure I can put up with this one-button mouse.
  4. Location: Donwarr - E01 Tags: Spaceship, Land vehicle, Civil Building "So you tracked the Zoid ship to E01?" "Yeah, this one got through our fleet and must have jumped F02 just before MANTIS arrived." "Anything to salvage?" "Not sure yet, but there must be something left, because a speeder made it's way out and gave us quite the chase." [O - E01] Target Sighted- 1 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr "Really? I haven't known Zoids to be especially fast." "Well that's the thing, this one wasn't totally Zoid. One low-level enforcer was driving, but it had some passengers." "Go on..." [O - E01] Target Sighted- 2 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr "Two MANTIS civilians, no surprise there, the Zoids may have been raiding those settlements for some time now. The weird one was a Kawashita special operative." "Hmm... we've known they've been courting ALIEN, but to specifically team up with the Zoids seems low, even for them. So what'd you do with them?" [O - E01] Target Sighted- 3 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr "They were going fast enough that we couldn't safely disable the speeder, and since it was MANTIS personnel on board, we decided to just use their rules of engagement." "Assume everybody in the vicinity is a hostile?" "That's the one. "So we came in low and left an oily wake in the ocean. We've got teams investigating the crash sites but I was happy to get out of that bucket you sent us." "What was wrong with the O.B.S. Maximum Effort?" [O - E01] Target Sighted- O.B.S. Maximum Effort by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr "Mostly it's just ugly, but it's still just a commercial freighter that's been converted over to a warship." "Well your specifications came in late so you got what you got. We're working on some warships. It's hard converting defensive patrols into offensive squadrons, but we'll get there. We may not keep standing armies, but once we get on the warpath, there's nothing that can stop us." "I have no doubt." C&C appreciated.
  5. I'm more concerned about y'all's perspective on the point system. It seems to me that at least two of y'all are against the bonus point system and are trying to find ways around rewarding those points. People can build their cool ideas without the game, but ultimately here we build for points (though, some more than others), what else would be the purpose of bonus points if not to add to the teams score? It's also insulting to assume that people are just posting half-baked, garbage mocs here. I seriously doubt that anybody that puts in the effort and has the bravery to publicly display their creations is maliciously doing so just to screw with your standards for what real "effort" looks like. Save your subjective opinions for the 1-7 score, but define your terms for the rest. If you feel that a micro spaceship takes away from the build, deduct points, but don't tell us that it's a spaceship sometimes but not others.
  6. That's ridiculous. That means we're judging tags on a sliding scale and there's no clear line for what can count for a bonus point. With that mentality we'll be constantly guessing what y'all's interpretation of what significant means and that y'all can change your minds whenever you want. Rules are meant to give people fair warning of what the expectations are and how to stay within those lines., but y'all are just making things difficult. Some weeks I might want to focus more on a land vehicle or a civil building than a spaceship. But now I have to start guessing what you think 5% of my effort looks like.
  7. What? Are you saying that you would approve or disapprove a spaceship tag based on the rest of the build?
  8. @Jody - these tags are the only ones that count, although I don't know what "vehicle" by itself is suppose to count for. As an engineer, I think you can get your job bonus just by having a building, so you wouldn't need a separate engineering tag or explicit action by your figure. @Judges - Can you please let me know if this is enough for a spaceship tag, assuming it is integral to the story?
  9. 63 to Bob please
  10. I'm guessing it's like the spaceship tag when it's wreckage, depends on how much you show of the ship or land vehicle. Judges?
  11. Thanks everybody. @Lucas - I prefer the smoothness in the front of the cockpit to contrast the greebling, but after looking at it, I think I should have added some detail between the back shoulder blades. @MKJ - I actually read yours and EEs from last week (?) and thought I'd add that little dig @Z - I couldn't find those mechs, can you post some links?
  12. great photography, the colors really pop and work well together. the vehicle is also unique and well greebled. I really like the way you offset the green and red on the front, too
  13. NPU on those engines. That's a very unique shape on the mech, i like the turret and the tanks on the back
  14. Great to have you back Wick. The greebling is phenomenal
  15. nice angles
  16. great flora
  17. Great to see the return of Dr Long, at least in some form. Speaking of, Bob needs to get out from behind that desk and back into the cockpit
  18. Nice use of Zoids. Those corridors look amazing and I like the split level dock
  19. GOOOO HOMBRE!!!! awesome articulation on the mech. that shot of him riding the bug is my favorite. Bruce sure has been a great payoff for sneaking in a land vehicle wherever you want it, too.
  20. cool ship, and, from what I can see, the mech looks good. I think it would help if your pictures were bigger, so instead of all 8 together in one shot, maybe break them up into horizontal sections so you can use the full width of the browser to display them. so, on this one, you'd break it up into 5 1024 wide shots.
  21. Location: Forring - F03 Tags: Spaceship (Zoid Slaver), Land vehicle (Mech), Civil Building (Zoid Slaver Interior) "We got through but we need back up NOW!" "Mech and Emboian escort dropping in 5... 4... 3... 2... "1... He's down. Once those exterior guards are taken care of we'll get pressure back to the ship." "Better be quick, Callahan! We've yet to find those prisoners and they're letting the whole ship go to vacuum. DORA! Punch through as fast as you can and find them!" "On it, John!" ...later "Commander Hannibal... official count is up to 2,141 survivors... we lost a lot of brave Emboians, but John... this fleet is ours. Lots of repairs to do but it's ours..." "Thank you Admiral." "One more thing, Commander. You need to see what we found out about the Zoids' involvement with Kawashita..." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Octan Hull Splicing Mech. Typically used for hull repairs to capital ships around asteroid fields, but deployed against the Zoid fleet on F03 to secure safe passage for humanoid prisoners on board. Because Zoids can survive the vacuum of space, they are known to kill prisoners by exposure when attacked. [O - F03] Zoid Slaver Over Forring - Mech by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr C&C appreciated
  22. Thanks guys. Wow! What a nice surprise this morning. I'm very glad that you liked it and even blogged me next to the actual winner of the contest. Fair criticisms all around. If I did it again, I'd want to make it rotate 360 from the cockpit and from the engine since realistically, as is, it would only rotate the cockpit if the engine were the center of gravity. A long tale like the B-Wing would have been cool, too. Also, the dish on the back was based on a temporary misconception of an actual ion engine.
  23. Thanks guys. So great to see renewed interest in this! No, and it's been disassembled for a while now. I've considered rebuilding it, but keep getting busy with other projects. I'm happy to help you trouble shoot it if you'd like to try to build your own. I remember the interior seats being relatively unstable, so I would change that any way. The main thing that makes the shape, IMHO, is the front, which is a brick shell wrapped around the cockpit and sitting at an angle. The wings are also unique, but I think their probably visible enough to recreate. hahahahahaha... Hell no. Besides, there's already a really good version posted http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=101530&hl=
  24. 63 to Bob please
  25. Shouldn't there be +3 DP here? 4 points + spaceship + vehicle + dom for dummies. Am I missing something?
