This is so beautiful it hurts!

Excuse me? You must be made of money if you're wiling to pay THAT much for used bricks! Just buy one of the modulars for $150 and you'll get twice that amount of bricks! New! I'd say €/$ 15 a kilo is a fair price… at least that's the amount I normally get for the lots I sell

Every brick looks so meticulously placed, it's a feast for the eyes!

Hi all! JUST WANTED TO QUICKLY SHOW YOU ALL… oh geez, caps lock… ahem…. Just wanted to quickly show you all my bakery, THE place to get your cookies, cakes, jams and breads in my town. I've just rebuild it seeing as I wasn't completely happy with the previous one. In advance I apologize for the quality of the photos, I don't have a good camera. So here we go! The (to me) most important part is the bakery shop of course. I'm gonna order new (non-scratched) transparent curved panels to replace the ones in this window. Lots of shades of browns in here! Stuck a pretzel to the sign with a piece of tape, but just temporarily; I hope to find a nice sticker to take its place soon. I love how the table of homemade jams turned out! The top of the building has a heavy, almost gothic feel to it, with dark colors and lots of ornaments. The roof is based on Dutch stepped gables. Inside the bakery we have lots of baked goods on display, and a semi-open kitchen with a large oven and everything the baker needs to create his delicious plastic goodies. There is a restroom under the stairs. Upstairs is the apartment. First we have the kitchen and lounge. Second is a kids room and bathroom. Top floor is the main bedroom, with a balcony. Some more overviews: Thanks for having a look!

If you seriously think this is pr0n, you might wanna stay away from the rest of the internet; you might be shocked And when I was a teen, my favorite pastime was looking at (preferably non-plastic) pr0n, so I doubt any 15 year olds are gonna complain about this. But hey, people are so easily offended by stuff nowadays... I'm working on a small adult-shop in a back alley of my town, and I'm planning on a small red light district to go with it, when I get the parts I need for it

I'm liking that fence a lot! Gonna have to steal that idea ;)

Hi peeps! Could somebody help me identify this piece? It was in a baggie of secondhand parts I got at a market yesterday, and I don't recognize it, can't seem to find info on it, and there's no number on it. I was assuming it's the lid of a battery box or something. Any clues? Thanks!

Good lord this is gorgeous!

Your abundant use of classic colors and older parts gives this place a real nice 80's/90's vibe! It looks like a better version of the town in the background of the brochures of that era!

… The washing machine isn't outside? It's on the landing… (op de overloop)

A few days ago I asked the question "rebrick the modulars or keep them intact?" ( http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=97514 ) because I was in doubt wether to rebuild my store-bought Modulars to fit better with my existing MOCs, and I wanted to know what you guys do. The responses really pushed me to a decision; don't like it? change it! The Petshop is my first victim; I really hated the insanely sparse interior (seriously? No bathroom? No living room even? No counterspace in the kitchen? And that freakin' tiny bed??) and that strange half wall in the shop (why have a front door if you can just jump into the shop from the stairs??) I've decided to try to use as much of the original bricks as possible, so I could easily dismantle the whole thing again and rebuild the original. Also I wanted to keep the look and feel the same as the original. Here's my result: The Petshop is better stocked; in the back to the right (under the stairs) are the animal pens. Terraria and aquaria are behind the counter, and the shelves are stuffed with food, birdhouses, toys etc. There finally is a living room! And the kitchen has counterspace! Holy canoli! I've added an extra floor, there were just enough of those sand blue slotted pieces hidden through the original to make the facade! I gave this floor a small teen-girl's room with desk and wardrobe (finally had a reason to use that dark purple train window I got in a batch of secondhand bricks! Glad I saved it), and a compact bathroom. The master bedroom is on the top floor; this bed is way bigger than the original, and can actually fit not one, but even two minifigs! There's a washing machine on the landing. Another overview: I will tile the inner edges of the walls as well when I get some cheap ones from BL. As you might notice, my buildings don't have a 'functional' back (no windows, doors, etc), this is because in my setup the buildings stand back to back. Thanks to everybody for giving me the push I needed to just go with my feelings!

Hi all! I was wondering; what rules do you guys live by while creating your creative creations? Do you refuse to mix used and new bricks? Is a certain color banned from your household? Are all your buildings the same height? Do you only want flesh colored minifigs? What about mixing in Friends or Fabuland? Is only the original trilogy of Star Wars allowed? Stuff like that... I have certain rules and guidelines for my modular building MOCs: -Everything has to be functional: All apartments need at least a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and lounge area All shops need a toilet and preferable also a stockroom/canteen/backoffice All floors need to be reachable by stairs (seriously Lego, what's up with the one-way escalators in Grand Emporium??) -I only use yellow minifigs -I wanna see studs as less as possible, but I'm not hating on them -NO mixing of old dark gray with new dark gray, old brown with new brown (except for trees, then I don't mind the mix of hues), etc. Sometimes I mix the light grays if I don't have enough of one or the other, but will change it when I get more -NO other brands / third party bricks (like BrickForge) -Primary colors are only allowed as accent-colors and in non-visible places; NO fully red buildings for me I'm really interested in hearing what kinda rules and guidelines you guys live by. And do you have a reason for certain rules? Or are you a rebel without a cause and do you do whateva you want?

Hi all! I've been riddled with doubt for a while now about the modulars. I have them, as I assume 110% of all of you have them as well. At every convention there are dozens of people displaying them. Lego fan sites are full of them. And I feel they are not very, erm, 'special' anymore, know what I'm saying'? I've bought all the modulars the day they went on sale, but I haven't bought the Parisian restaurant yet… I'm kinda bored with them… because I've seen them eeeeeverywhere I guess. Now, my question is: what do you guys do with your Modulars? Do you keep them on display as they are or do you remodel them? Do you use the bricks for completely different things or do you just change a bit (like adding a floor, changing the interiors or tiling the floors)? I think the modulars look great! But they are just a tad smaller in scale than my MOCs and they look weird together, so I wanna take them apart and rebuild them to fit more with my MOCs. I've started with taking apart the Petshop, but I stopped halfway through, wondering if I was doing the right thing, panicking, running around, arms flailing. What do you guys think? Reuse the bricks for original work like a heathen, or display them in all their conventional glory like a good boy?

I have 2 orange ones (one as a backup). All the other ones I get get thrown in the resale bin. If I sell multiple batches of Lego I try to put a separator in each one. I love these things! And it's great so many kids have them now! This will surely mean less teethmarks down the road.

I'm sorry, I don't know where else to put this, so if it's wrong forgive me! I'm guessing this is mostly interesting for those from The Netherlands btw By coincidence I found this guys website, and turns out he's selling his (dozens!) new in box sets for reasonable prices! Including some old Star Wars sets (from 2002), ninjago polybags, mini figures, and loads more! Even sweaters and lights! Some boxes are damaged he says, and those are reduced in price. There is nothing of interest to me, but there might be some treasures in there for you guys! Go have a look! http://www.natuurfotograafmarcel.nl (the links to his Lego are at the bottom of the menu on the left) You can send the guy an email and have it delivered by mail or you can pick it up in Amsterdam Some of what he's selling: Let us know if you find something!

Say what now?

I'm not a fan of them. Most of the time the quality is rubbish of the cheaper clone brands; bits of sprue, warped, more translucent plastic… bah! There are some brands that are pretty ok though, like MegaBlocks and Kre-o, but I would never use those bricks personally. Sometimes I find some in a batch of second hand Lego, and even though they are perfectly compatible with lego in size and color, I still take them out (and put them in a bin with other bricks I don't use, and sell it for cheap to parents who don't have a lot of cash to spend on toys). But I can understand parents buying those brands for their kids; it saves them some money and small children won't see the difference. Just stay away from those horrible cheap chinese knockoffs! I do enjoy people ripping on them though, I love Wendy's 'Commander Cottontail' blog where she reviews off-brand building block sets: http://commandercottontail.com/index.php/blog/archive

I would say I'm a gardener. I begin with an idea or a picture I took/found and just start building and experimenting. Often, when my MOC is done, I take it apart after looking at it for a couple of weeks. Then I start over, order parts from BL if I need to, and rebuild it; changing the parts I didn't like and ending up with a much better version. Further alterations are not uncommon. I do sort my bricks pretty neatly though. Space is finite. I sort mostly by type. Bricks, plates, tiles and slopes are sorted by size and color as well.

Oooh! Dark green is a nice idea! I was thinking about using dark gray or dark brown tiles (as I've said before), but dark green is a great idea too! That would tie in nicely with the dark green shop windows and awning! Thanks for the suggestion and the compliments! (especially coming from you, seeing as your work is a great inspiration to me ;) )
