Well i don't like superheroes sets so it's easier for me to choose I had Joker's fun park set in my hands though.
-
... and they still have to release thousands of new Ninjago and Chima bull-sets so that takes a lot of hands needed

Or... as there's a fashion for it... they'll do an immidiate reboot of the whole series and so TLG will approach the problem again Is that for sure? I mean, we know that they won't ( probabbly ) do Silmarilion as Christopher Tolkien owns the rights and is in conflict on both financial and artistic levels. Still, is it official that they could only make an adaptation of specific books? There're always lawyers and they can do certain "interpretations" Hold You horses mate If what Dartk Punk said is true, then You won't do much about it Still, turning Your own ideas on how to expand certain universe into a DIFFERENT theme is a well accepted approach, used more than often by profesionals

Even if, there're other directors and movie makers. If they will smell the money, they will enlist anyone to continue. Just like they did with POTC when Verbinski left the franchise... actually even saying that "noone will ever make another pirate movie after he's done"... Had to be seriously knocked in the head on the set during the production when he made that thought ... and like Disney is doing with Star Wars! 5 minuted with hands on the new property and they've already officialy announced to make a ton of movies and cartoons based on the franchise. So why not do the same with LOTR and Hobbit. There's still a lot about this universe that we don't know. A lot of characters to meet. And a lot of Lego sets to be produced
-
Yeah, it does. Missed them all the way though. Happened to be released at that time when I was completely out of the Lego mania and still far away from coming back I think i've never actually seen any of them. I've learned about them maybe like two years ago, searching Brickset or same other Lego-dedicated pages. Would like to see them back on the shelf though.

Yeah, I've heard that. And I meant it as a joke Still, I believe that since Jackson could reshape and rewrite both LOTR and Hobbit, divide them freely, kick out some characters and add some completely new ones, I guess they could go full steam ahead and make some "own" Middle Earth productions. If their license is NOT only to make official adaptations. Like with Sony and 20th Century Fox holding the rights to Marvel characters are squizing money from these franchises every way they want, New Line could the the same with LOTR and Hobbit right. Whatever. Do some prequels, midquels, interquels, sidequels etc At least I would definitely go that way. Something set in such a great and costly universe could work and sell well. And so Lego would be glad to do sets based on those new original creations.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Mazin replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yeah i know what action and adventure themes are. I simply don't like when someone start a conversation about subject A and it goes to B and nobody notice -
Still it would be very Indiana Jonesish I guess Hidden treasure, traps, bandits. Lots of dynamite. Quite attractive though

Ok, so there is some discussion about sizes and a number of bricks. What about a number of rounds and minirounds? Can we statistically divide Lego themes into type of sets? I mean, my idea of 5 rounds is just a quick proposition, made only on some observation, but perhaps Lego has some clearly strict rules about types of sets they are doing - considering range of prize for example. And so what types of sets would You like to see in this kind of a constest? Let's name them Starting with mini sets perhaps?
-
And it's look very simple at the same time, makes it different and special considering all those ove the top free builds that we can see everywhere, great creation, but there's something special about this one

Maybe he just wants to make some clones of his own, but unfortunately they don't come with gear included

But was Lego Hobbit announced that early? Having a movie and sets released at different time is somewhat normal and justified. But completely other thing is announcing something so agresively with word "2015"... so that everyone gets convinced that it means these should be released with the very first day of Janury, or even earlier... But dude, April, it's like a hell of a time to wait. They could have said that much earlier. "Coming April 2015" would be a clear message. And now it's list postponing something for 4 damn months.

I woudln't be so sure... they do look like Hussars or Croats a bit. Prussia used to have this kind of troops. Also polish-lithuanian tatars at one point in time.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Mazin replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ok. So there goes a question. Is this a thread dedicated to ANY idea for a new action theme, or, AS SAIS in the original post - is this a thread dedicated only to making making new LICENSED-themes, BASED on certain FRANCHISES? Or maybe we could and could discuss BOTH, as there're no rules in this topic at all? Anyway. So when talking about franchises i'd generally like to see something that would work well with traditional lego themes, and also something that wouldn't have an exiting toy line made by other companies already. Like, I'm not really into Lego Turtles, or Lego Batman cause these were already nicely made by Playmates and Kenner. And as much as I'd like these to be brought back by respective companies, I'm against action figures having to compete with Legos, and so shrink the market. Therefore I think that best franchises for Lego would be those that aren't that aren't as universal as high class comic book superheroes. Still, Duck Tales could be a nice idea. The whole Disney universe. Duckburg and Mickyville. Disney never really made a cool line of toys based on this property. All i can think of are statues. Looking cool, but these cannot be called toys really. Than both Duck and Mickey universes give a lot of opportunities. And they could be made as either standard lego sets ( with different heads of course ) and so could be merged with City sets. Or as more childish Fabuland sets, and even merged with those. The only problem i see with making Ducks into Legos are their feet. Another one? Pirates... of Dark Water. They did have toys made by Hasbro, and they were pretty nice actually. But the the problem with PODR was that whole franchise seemed to be wat too small in a matter of possible action figures, and vehicles. It was exiting as a cartoon but it couldn't stand ground as a toy. Then, it could work well as Legos, as all of the characters and ships and building design would fit well into bricks. I can imagine Bloth's giant ship and its goblin like crew. It's also something that could be bought out cheaply, made into a live action movie + existing cartoons could arvertise these toys as well. Also John Carter seemed to be a pretty decent universe. Well, it is in books, it was in comics. Movie was somewhat strange. Basically, there was much of chaos at the beginning, and the main character was the worst part of it. But other than that ( exepct for those huge jamps maybe ) it was rather cool. Even that ugly dog was likeable And since there is a fear that LOTR and HOBBIT themes will soon get closed, maybe they could get the vibe and dig something similar but older - like Krull, or always popular Willow. Also, if Lego would like to refresh their Western theme ( sadly it didn't work out with Lone Ranger ) maybe they could go for most popular Western heroes of all the time - Magnificent Seven. This way a western theme would have it's own "name". A theme call "Magnificent Seven" always sounds better than a theme called simply "Wild West". Of course it would have to be a much bigger "expanded" universe, as i don't really remember to have trains or indians in that great flick... but... the word is they're about to do a remake so... Or it can be always called "Jonah Hex", or "Bonanza"... well whatever -
Yeah, that thing made me think about it today, as I was mobilizing my troops together and realised that maybe they should consider standarazing those cannons. Making different colors for different factions, or using the same color for all of the cannons, so it would make them more universal. I mean, obviously we can muskets are the same for everyone, and every faction can use them. Doing the same thing with cannons would also make using them "easier". Still, it's not a big deal really. More like a talk of a pedant Bluecoats had red cannons as well and it wasn't much of a problem. But there was also green for Armada ship. And there also goes the sentimental thing. I am used to both brown and red cannons. And I love'em, so it would be rather sad to ged rid any of these. On the other hand, I don't think that blue cannons would look well. And look is the most important thing that goes with Lego It's above all other matters

Hi Tim, good to have You here on Eurobricks Volunteer firefighter? That make two of us... although I've learned about me being a member of a fire brigade only recently, after 5 years, cause a "friendly neighbour" signed me up to gain extra diets on my name.

... and please feel free to wear casually. Of course having a tuxedo is an important thing, practised by Eurobricks' members all the time, but it's unnecessary to never take it off Anyway, welcome
