  1. It doesn't matter whether it was Islanders, Soldiers, Armada... all of these are part of Pirates series so You can count this one as Your first: 6256 Islander Catamaran 6237 Pirates' Plunder, is this it?
  2. You forgot to mention new crocodile, monkey, parrot, boat, paddles, treasure chest, captain's hook, door of captain's cabin, octopus ( but this monster wasn't in pirates sets before ) and some differences in dress/flag/map pattern. As for my opinion... Well, I'm a classic pirates fan and these new colors, shiny things and some patterns make me angry. I loved the simplicity of the "old" sets... those were perfect... and these new are little bit too overdone, don't know the right english word, but I want to say that they have just put too much preasure on making them as "cool" as they could be. And don't really find need for shiny epolets, helmets, well cannons are not bad really, but I still like the old ones much more. Now... what new? I guess they will make a black pirate soon Maybe cannon's carriage will get a new look, new monkey possibly, pearl gray captain's hook, different colors of drinking glass, money and "diamonds". Can't think of anything else now...
  3. I see... so what "rank" do I have to get to be able to search? Write 100 posts or something? People are equal from a long time BTW I's just pretty unnormal for me, cause I have to dig tonnes of pages to find some interesting topics ( like the one about this academy thing ), and this "tool" would be very usefull. But if it's just technical problem and nothing con be done as You say, then what can I say...
  4. Hey guys what is it with this academy You're talkin' about? Couldn't find anything about it and my "searchin' machine" is broken ?
  5. That's what you call an "early" start Not classic sets but nice though. Well... 1995 was not the best for a Lego Pirates fan to be born. Did You get the one from american version - with different ( nonshooting ) guns? I got american version from my californian uncle on one christmas, but I already had this set so we exchanged it in a shop for an Barracuda Best thing is that I learned that those american guns were nonshooting just one week ago!
  6. I'm not the boss here, but I guess that You can simply do Your own review even if there was another one. I'm not sure for 100%, but I remember that there were some sets reviewed by two different guys. Well, two people can have two different points of view on a set and there isn't something like "official" LEGO PIRATES review right?
  7. I believe this was the one too. Well, maaaaaaybe it was this one: Not sure really... But I remember that as I didn't have any sailing ship at that time I used hull from 4030 Cargo Carrier as a pirate ship equiping it with 6805 Astro Dasher's wings as cannons. Even though I enjoyed it much... Well, later I got 6274 Caribbean Clipper and 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, so then I really started playing
  8. I already said I know how much work this gonna take But better to think about eventual changes now than later, when there will be lots and lots of topics to work on.
  9. Yeah... but sometimes You have to dig up to 20 or more pages and this takes a lot of time. And we actually have 65 (!) pages and there sure will be more. Some interesting threads simply dissapear because after two days You have dozens of new topics, reviews, or very popular polls. How many of them have been silent for months or even years, confusing people if they should or should not write anything new in them after such a long period of time. And I don't say that this forum looks bad, or looks bad to me. But couple of changes could be nice. Perhaps it would be possible to have simple listing of topics that we have now... and a new sectioned version below? Where listed would be like "just" up to 10 pages of most recent topics... Just a crazy idea
  10. Well I am sure that's not an easy and fast work and I don't don't even know if its technically ( and financially ) possible. Just wanted to make a proposition
  11. Good idea for the poll! Well, there will propably always be someone satisfied and unsatisfied as You said. But as for me, I haven't been to the Forum for a long time and I am completely "blind"... especially that my "search" functions don't work. Couldn't even find my previous posts and topics. And now, as we are running this Forum for more than 3 years, we have hundreds of topics, posts and even more members it's starting to get too complicated I think. An un-subforumed Forum ( don't know if this word even exist but had to figure something out ) would be good when it started, and it wasn't to crowded. And there is always option to search for recent topics, or just watch the thread, get e-mail notifications. But I think that need of sections for polls, for articles, advertisements, reviews ( and MOCs of course ) is urgent.
  12. Don't know if this matter was questioned before and is there sense and possibility to ask... but don't You guys think that this Forum is a little bit too chaotic and it would be good to create some divisions/ sections. I know that Pirate forum is just a part of Eurobricks forum. But it's very big and crowded part though. It's very hard to find recent topics after even one day. And I am sure that also beginners, new members, have a lot of problems to see if some topics were already created or simply - to "walk around" and find interesting things that will make them stay here for longer.
  13. He he... Good sense of humor You have. But it looks to me that this guy is arrested for preparing a hot meal... Maybe this soldier doesn't like anyone to eat fish
  14. Could someone put some pictures please? It would be much simplier to vote then I voted for red&white as Barracuda is my favorite. Second would be blue&white. I got Caribbean Clipper earlie than Barracuda, but pirate ship is much cooler for me. Well, but these are just toys. It has to be colorfull. And I personally don't find "realistic" colors fit Lego style properly. As it is with INDIANA series colors for example.
  15. No one mentionied that soldier is very cool to Cannonballs are little bit too big for this caliber, but it's still nice composition nevertheless.
  16. Hey how does Captain Green Hair look? I voted for good old Cpt. Roger. He's a "complete" pirate leader. Has all the pirate symbols/markings, distinctions. One look and even a one-year-old knows who that guy is Ironhook is just a much cheaper version of him for me really. I'd like him rather as a "cast away" version of Roger. Choosing between two military leaders I would pick Broadside ( as I prefer SOLDIERS to IMPERIAL GUARDS too ), but his hat is badly presented here. Also Woodhouse's mustache looks a little funny to me. And Kahuka. He would look much mightier if had scarier mask. In this one he reminds me of old good-hearted Orko with his big eyes
  17. Nope. This is just one of toooo many sets I still don't have :-/ Well, the design problem touches so many themes in these times. It's pretty like with the original Turtles or Heman animated series and the new ones. You have to feel IT. They were much simpler and also much more adorable. Same with most of new lego sets/ themes. They don't have THIS thing. They don't have this magic combination of simplicity and playability it had 15 years ago.
  18. Well done TalonCard *y* But just one thing... About One-Eyed Jack ( is this actually his official name? )... I always thought about the one in brown hat and the one in black hat as of two different guys. Like first one being a lieutenant and second being a petty officer, or something like that. I even think of them as two different personalities. I mean... Darker colours make the one in black hat a more evil guy, probably much more then Cpt. Roger himself ( he still looks friendly despite his pirate markings/symbols ).
  19. Agreeeeed. *y* Very nicely made. I think You probably wrote there about everything a person can write or ask about the Imperials. Good job once again
  20. It doesn't look so bad, but nothing special either. There were lots of better sets. Think they could change the angle of the photo little bit, and maybe 1 or 2 different figures. But nothing saves the raft. What the hell is that?
  21. I voted for seaside town cause it would be something very very original and completely new in the theme. Imagine couple of workshops, ( sabres/ muskets ) and a tavern by the beach, couple boats anchored by the jetty, with mosaic of its people and two soldiers/marines on patrol. But I would also love to see a big SOLDIERS' ship, perhaps with some PIRATES thing included too. The small one ( Caribbean Clipper ) was my first or second Pirate set and it was the only one containg SOLDIERS' marines. There should be more sets with them. Seeing similar IMPERIAL GUARDS' marines would be great too...
  22. Hi Does anybody have any knowledge or even pictures of some lego sets/ figures created or designed which never came out? Or maybe some older versions of pirate figures/sets that we know very well now but looked a bit different before putting them on the market... There is much of information on unproduced G.I. Joe figures on http://yojoe.com/preprod/ and so I thought that propably same thing happened with Lego Pirates. Well it's pretty sure that they didn't sell every single set/figure that they were thinking of right?
  23. Well i believe it could be made into whole series. Man O' War cartoon is good enough to be running on television. If Lego was smart they would made it into an official lego-pirates commercial-series. Kids would love this cartoon, and buy the toys after that. If You go to http://www.outside-hollywood.com/ You can find that the authors cut out an island expedition and few characters from the final scenario, but it would be actually great to see it. Also i'd love to watch pirates attacking some imperial port or some treasure-adventure. You guys have any ideas for continuations?
  24. Yap... Here You have one pretty good computer animated stuff: Same guy made this one ( western actually but i couldn't resist to put this one too ): There is a lot of minifigure-slowmotion lego-pirate movies on youtube, mostly of poor quality, but these two are quite funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYXvDnmUFjY&NR ( i thought that this one is animated as i watched its first seconds :-D ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5UdqwFCnGs&NR
