Yes, i think it was lazy. And like i said, usage of row boats would be genius for an amateur, but in this case, i feel that they could have made a new mold. We had canoes and lots of special molds made if needed, and same thing should be done with this set. They i see it it's kind of cheap and poorly camouflaged. I can see a use of rowboats to make a catamaran or a pontoon bridge, and a lot more. But in this case, when i saw that box first thing that attrackted me was that great newly molded long boat. And I would probably buy it if i had a chance without checking it. But now i kind of feel deceived. Of course, they had a right to do it, no one can forbid them. It's only that i am not convinced to buy it any more.

Don't know nothing for sure, but i guess they would advertise boxed sets if they were to be released, so we can only count on surprises or polybags

Wow, i agree, that set would have been really nice And it's a classic, childhood times. Would love to have it. I am not a big fan of todays City, it's much different, way too much detailed and too diverdes for me. It's not about simplicity anymore. 20 years ago cars made of Lego were RESEMBLING cars, you could build them from parts of which none actually looked anything like a part of a car, but all together, it was fantastic. And then you could split it again and build other things, planes, whatever you wanted. Now, getting a lego car or a plane, or a lego plane, there's a lot of big exclusive parts, huge plane engines, trains entire front, etc... it's not funny and creativity anymore

Sure we do Still, not all of us could get something nice for christmas before christmas, so i'll have to reward myself after new years eve Still, unwrapping gifts and finding things under that colorful paper is a completely different thing and would love to get some Lego this way again Welcome to Eurobicks! edited some of my pirate comics, still, it's a long wat to go, building with bricks is easier and funnier than making stories out of it

Welcome to Eurbricks that's something new, i've been always wondering possible stuff that we didn't get but what unreleased sets are You talking about? anything particular? got pictures?
-
Now here's an unexpected answer: Didn't get anything And as much as i don't like wrapping gifts for myself actually wanted to buy something, but couldn't get anything nice in local stores. I'll surely buy some sets after new year to compensate this, but i will try to push my family to get me anything next time Eh... it would be much easier to make a wish list actually. Though, i don't like novadays Lego that much. Given the opporunity to buy older classic sets making that list would be faaaar more easier

Ok, i didn't know about the one in a polybag But to me it still doesn't excuse them from making such strange decisions And i'm not sure if that one guy will return all those costs that easily. I mean, how many of these battle packs could they have made and how many do they need to sale? Since you got both of em could You tell more about extra parts, anything special about the lonely mountain set aside from the dragon? I mean, i don't want to pay that much to get Smaug, cause i'm sure i'm not really going to use him often. Of course i could always sell it back, but i don't really have time to waste it on ebays and other amazons. So i would probably buy this set for parts and figures, but i'm not sure if it's worth it About Attack on Laketown set - i bet that this black arrow thing could make a pretty nice balista, would need more of them though.

Ok, but still with those tests we might reach a day when a huge bunch of people will say that they want lego minigires to be 12 inches high or get fingers or something. This way Batman could end up as black person, and Superman get tatoos. Seriously there should be some barriers everywhere that shouldn't be crossed. Personally I hate when marketing and surveys gets into business, because a lot of time they bring wrong decisions.

Well, they can do everything it's their company, their will, their money. Still, we'll have to pay for it somehow. And i do agree that these are very accurate and might be well received by many, it's just my way that being a manager, artist and designer myself i'm always concerned about all unnecessary costs

Yeah, i thought the same at first, but then found that treasure island is the exact name of one of the sets in the line, but i couldn't find a box with it's name on it. He might have been thinking about TREASURE HUNT... and jumbled the words.

There is Master of Laketown, not a second soldier. Or maybe i'm missing something about different sets? And about those figures. Yeah, they are pretty well detailer, but that's actually also another thing that i can't understand in TLGs approach. I mean - Lego is not GIJOe or some He-man were a specific action figure is a product and so an action figure needs to be different and pretty detailed to sell in thousands. And a Lego minifigure is not really a procudt, not something that sells entire expensive sets or at least not in the case of Laketown. I understand that a lot of kids might scream at their parents to get them those multidolar huge sets only to get a Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf or whovever famous they want. But Laketown soldier? Master of Laketown? Explain me why does someone spens thousands of dollars to produce helmets that will be used only ONCE? Cause each new Lego part, whether it's a helmet, or a monkey, or a giant troll should seel themselves and bring the invested money back. But i don't see this happening with laketown soldiers' parts. They were lazy enough to make a Lone Ranger gattling gun by using a barrel. They were lazy enough to make a Laketown longboat by using TWO standard-size boats. And both gattling and longboat are thing that could be used again and again the future and sell itself back. But why design, mold and produce helmets and parts that will be used only ONCE? This i cannot understand.
-
Well i did, as probably did a lot of others undestand "2015" this way. Maybe i am simply not accusomed with TLG's releasing strategy, but one should not arvertise something with "a year". Even "coming soon" sounds like "couple of weeks" - a months, 2 months tops. But 4 months into that year is a ridiculous amount of time. Are You sure about this? Why this particular set?

Army building is one thing, having a general idea of creating a theme is another. And this is simply what i mean, they've only redone some scene from the movie or a book, that seemed to be the best for them, but i don't think they've ever thought about creating something more from it. It was a rather fast and easy approach, not a real marketing strategy. Even if they knew they woudn't own the rights for long, they should have approached it with a much bigger respect. And therefore i don't find a reason not to judge it this way. But they did create him. So maybe it would be wiser to put different soldiers into that set, or not create any soldiers or any laketown sets at all? This is generally what is wrong with Hobbits, one should not put energy and time into creating any scenographies or factions if they would appear only for a while and they wouldn't give anything special to that project

Was there a single time when they've released something that was not in the catalogue?

Well like everyone here i guess can't understand people who aren't So were You inspired by any particular ship ( real or fictional ) while making Your own? Any favorites among those used by Holywood? Polanski's "Neptune", or Harlin's "Morning Star"?

Lotr was a little bit dark in tone... well it was pretty mixed actually. Still, there's a lot of stuff in both Lotr and Hobbit that i would never allow to happen in a "kids friendly movie". Still, we all used to watch all the Terminators, Predators and other rated R stuff when we were kids and I don't think that it turned any of us into f... ups, right? I can't agree. Well it all depends on what one wants to find in them and get from them. But generally I'd say that they're rather weird if You consider them to be a THEME. Of course it's based on something, but still, a Lego theme is a Lego theme and should allow one to collect certain parts and minifigures to expand creating possibilities. As was the case with Pirates, Castle and so on. You could easily form those parts and troopers together. While here, in the Hobbit there's just way too many factions. Too many types of warriors. Too many different kinds of buildings that you cannot really connect together. An example? Correct me if i'm wrong but it appears that there's only ONE Laketown soldier in the entire franchise! This shouldn't have happened. Even in Lone Ranger there're soldiers everywhere and would be more of them if this theme would be allowed to expand into more sets. I know that for a lot of fans this fact doesn't matter at all, and a lot of kids had fun playing with it anyway as kids will always find a way. But... it's totally against any rules in toy making. If they wanted to use laketown soldiers they should have made more of them... or made none. I said that and i don't know in what way were Bakshi's filming rights connected to those owned by NLC/WB but technically it wasn't a remake, only a reboot. A remake is a newer adaptation of the same original movie idea. A reboot is more like an another approach to adapt something that it is based on. So basically Nolans Batmans, new Spidermans and Jacksons Lotrs are reboots, their own take based on someone else's idea. Just like we had dozens of reboots/adaptations of robin hood, count monte christo, 3 musketeers and so on. Of course both remakes and reboots can differ more or less, sometimes change original idea completely. And it gets even more complicated, if you consider that a lot of american remakes of foreign movies... are ctually based on books or plays. Therefore these could be called foreign reboots. But because the idea was taken from a succesfull foreign movie, therefore they're simply called remakes
