Could But then again we have epaulets, lapels and other stuff that would go in different colors and so divert attention Well, it's just an idea to have more colors IN THE POLL, so that we would not end up with choosing only from orange and green Is is possible that one of our friendly neighbourhood artists could make a test/rendition with different color patern for all 3 factions ( not just soldiers ) to see what paterns would suit us best?? I mean - so we could do that same way they do choose colors in the toy industry.
-
I do have to say that light orange and light green are pretty nice. Just remember that we're making a kids' toy and these colors have to catch their eyes. What we like and what they like are two different things. Just to have more choices and make people actually think of other possible paterns I'd add more colors to the poll - like spanish yellow and gray ( see pics below ) to the poll.
-
So we've discussed this with BFN earlier and we find differences between these 3 factions problematic. I mean - how to distinguish Guards from Merchants and then distinguish Merchants from Smugglers. Cause that's definitely the most important thing here - all of these factions should be easily recognised by kids. Children should have no problems to say what differs them, the same way as these diffrences were easy to spot in classic Pirates sets, Castle sets, Western sets and so on. So first thing would be to establish a different color patern for respective sides. Starting with Smugglers I'd give them some of these new DIRTY/POOR colors - rotten brown, dark green and so on - to make them look really really bad, in worn out clothing, veteran mercenary-type, desperate killers. They should also go with a great set of birds, eyepatches, lack some teeth and so on. In one sentence - make them look like a Wolfpack/Forestmen of the Carribean. As for the Guards - perhaps we could make a compromise and just use both BLUE and RED for them? Red coats with blue pants/lapels/epaulets for sailors, blue coats with red pants/lapels/epaulets for soldiers. Then Merchants as a pretty rich and highly cultural society, fashion freaks, could go with a great range of PASTELS, plus lots of WIGS, elegant vests for simple workers, decorated jackets for the powerful and expensive dresses for the ladies.

Ambassador Project - Sub-Theme Suggestions - POLL RESULTS
Mazin replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'll vote for Quest for the Lost City as well, as it's the only one among these suggestions really WORTH this poll. I am actually surprised that the whole subtheme play turned out this way. Thought that we were supposed to create something classic, fairytale-ish, child friendly and long lasting. All of these failed to even mention that direction. These are nice ideas for a book, movie, game or anything for pirate/merchant/adventure fanatic grown ups... but definitely not worth a toy made by LEGO. And only Quest for the Lost City seems to have some kind of diversity, possibility for large amount of sets and further evolution. There is a classy Spanish/Conquistado-rish faction, traditional British/French/Merchant-ish faction, and an Islander like faction... which shows that it's really nothing but a cheaper version of good old classic Pirates, but... let's get over it.... It's biggest minus - NO PIRATE FACTION. Another minus - it seems to be only about expedition, so there's not much of a chance to get a merchant-ish city that we're all dreamed of... or is there? Another thing - diverse these names! IMPERIAL ARMADA vs IMPERIAL GUARDS Seriously? I hope these are just temporarily... And I agree with BFN that those Natives should really be males, not warrior chicks... I'd say that they should be more of a mixture beetween primitive wild caribs and aztec/inka civilization... -
It is pretty clear now, thank You. Cook didn't state much about supporting, only about merging and creating a poll from the most popular ideas. My confusion came from a matter whether "popularity" should be obtained by support, or by being the most copied Idea.
-
It didn't say ONLY and it didn't say we cannot intervene... or at least I thought we could do so... Sorry nonetheless Anyway, are we supposed to support certain Ideas in this topic or will there be an another one created to do so - since we are not supposed to support these Ideas in the Suggestions Topic and they have to be supported to advance into a poll.

You haven't read all the rules carefully my friend. It says clearly:

Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme - Ambassador Project - Overview
Mazin replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
So were supposed to be PTC entries but the've ended to be oversized MOCs anyway, great MOCs by the way, but NOT sets. Still, even if we have to stay with novadays standards we can make than much more playable at the same time and get rid of all of that silly and unneccessary stuff right? -
Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme - Ambassador Project - Overview
Mazin replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
About the sets - i know that there's still a lot of time, but it would be great to think of them really in an 80s/90s way by building "easy stuff", not some overbuild mocs like people did in the last PTC contest. So more "replay value", baseplates (!), old type of sharks, and no stupid "scene reenacting sets" tha Lego is full of right now... Excting, inspirational, yet simple. -
Design a NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme - Themes Suggestions
Mazin replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Sub Theme: Pirate Kingdom A caribbean archipelago inhabited by merchants, buccaneers, slaves and natives is revolting against it's oppressive Rulers. Good Guys aka The Colonials For way too long people of the Archipelago have listened to wishes of their Ruler, who didn't care to listen to them. After all it's been them who fought for this land, for it's treasuers and defended it against common enemies. Now, angered by the Regime's demands and united - merchants, assimilated natives, and even slaves, and buccaneers and pirates - all with a wish for freedom, decide to stand. The battle will not be fought on equal terms as all the Colonials have is their militia, lots of irregulars and lots more courage. Having only few weak outposts they have to transform them into fortresses. Having only a small merchant/pirate fleet they have to revamp it into their navy. Having a force of volunteers of mixed races, lacking standarized uniforms and weaponry... they have to remodel it as their army. Still - they have the advantage of knowledge of their lands and jungles and therefore a partisan warfare, ambushes and traps, is what can give victory to their side. Bad Guys aka The Regime An absolute Ruler will not accept any revolt in his lands and will not listen to the rebels' demmands. A nation should remain obedient at any times and any cause. Therefore an outstanding Expeditionary Force is sent to the crush the Archipelago and bring back the "peace", whatever the cost. Veteran soldiers, powerfull navy, perfectly equiped infantry and fearsome cavalery should be no match for a bunch of "peasants". Led by cruel yet greedy generals, brought here by the wish to fill their own pouches, they will show no mercy and stop only after every "local scum" will be turned into a skeleton or a slave, and every house into a pile of wood and bricks... Both factions have to act fast - as it seems that in an unlikely event of success other archipelagos might revolt as well, and so Other Powers are interested in devouring... the Pirate Kingdom. So that's what on my mind. A mixture of different ideas ( merchants, natives, pirates ) combined in a new exciting faction, brings back an atmosphere of classic pirate utopias known from different stories, novels and flicks ( Crimson Pirate, Jean Lafitte's Barataria, Madagascar's Libertalia and others ) to the XVII/XVIII century Caribbean. Possibilities for great sets ( cities, ports, outposts, ships, ambushes, hide outs, prison, wrecks, colonial "partisan army" and irregulars etc ) are limitless. -
I guess our emperor won't mind if some 85$ sets will be actually look more like 100$ sets with a discount

Tournament of Retribution III Rules and Entries Overview
Mazin replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Pirate MOCs
As said... Great tournament, great fun and great job everyone! Although I couldn't deliver my entries ( if I could only stop time for a while ) I really enjoyed other works and even all those "simple" comments made this such a real thing, so inspirational. Seeing my avatar so many times and seeing that contestants managed to focus not only on their projects but on creating a real ongoing "universe" ( Spock's rope, Bananas, Broomstick, and so on ) made me speechless so many times I still have some freebuilds to deliver though... War is not over yet Expect them in a day or two... -
Fantastic Amazing ideas, shots and colors, nicely delivered. Well told, well edited, well photoshoped... and I really like the way You designed those panels. There're all piece of art working perfectly together Great job man ...although the story is completely fictional of course...

Awesome! Very creative. Looks that there is a peace between our two nations! So quiet everywhere. Harvest and hunting season. It's not a time of war obviously
