Dwarven Attack Boats in Tradewind Bay
Mazin replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very cool indeed, fantastic job Hauptmann Braunsfeld And lovely composition as well Still, might be little off top here, but looking at those Hobbit boats it's hard not to think that TLG designers were pretty lazy doing those longboat don't You think? I mean, seeing the picture, art on the package i was sure this one is really gonna be a completely new mold. And immidiately thought about bying it because of this. Yet, as it happens, they used the simplest way to create this longboat, attaching two regular boats together! And it even doesn't look well. Well, one can still have two boat bying it, and built a longboat as well. But, seriously, i have say that they've tricked us a bit. Don't guys think? -
Thank You! I did give it thought Wanted to achieve these somewhat weird and authentic looks. Well, i'm a bit of an artist about everything, and I have to be since I having very little armies and very little building skills I need to use different ways of expressions

Thank You, that's nothing new for me actually. I've been forming irregular battalions since I can only remember Those "all in blue" troopers are like my first invention ever So now it's time for my redcoats. Here's the lineup It seems to be much bigger that the previous one, well, obviously they outnumber my bluecoats with their artilery and wagons and cavalery units, still, they consist only of irregular or rather primitive troops. But let take a closer look and make sure about that We'll start the presenation with Marschall von Lobster ( he's holding a ceremonial spear ) who is presenting newly formed militia unit to his excellency Great Cansellor Brickwald de Brickenville. They're assisted by my only two regular redcoats - officers in charge of the militia unit, responsible for recruitment, drill, command and of course pillaging poor civilians. Still they are far less ferocious and barbaric than those gentelmen above. Native redpants troops might be poorly equiped by they do know how to fight, and they spend most of their time sharpening their knifes, swords and axes. There's also a large horse unit behind them. Some chariots and even a prison wagon. Apparently that's just how sure of winning the battle they are. Still, it's rather a surprise that they're actually using those prison wagons as red natives are well known of slaughtering the prisoners... And no wonder, since these terrible faces lead them to fight. Gentelmen in front are top beskers of the entire red army as they are interested only in terror and spilling someone's blood. And last but not least are most proud forces among the red army - artillery. These gunners know their job pretty well and just looove to put some iron on enemy's heads

There's still Warcraft Movie coming sooner or later so they might catch into it or anything that would look cool and possibly sell even better And yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if the younger ones would sell the whole property, or simply open to the highest bidders. If so, there might be a fight between companies and studios over those rights. Other than what You've said are there other limitations that NL/WB have to deal with? Can they still do reboots or was it a one time deal? Still, they could probably make some Hobbit/Lotr cartoons right? So, Tolkiens estate is not getting any penny from all those milions made by the franchise? Nothing from movies, games and Legos? Not even a small percentage? Well, i would be mad. Still, a deal is a deal. Selling something for nothing is one thing. But changing a deal is somewhat illogical and dangerous. Of course we can all see and say that Tolkien made a mistake from our point of view, but how would he know that his creations would be worth that much. He took a pretty nice lload of cash at that moment of time, when he could not sell it and get nothing at all.

Trampoline? Well, it looks very cool Seems that picture making is like sound recording, one has to use a lot of crazy and unimagible ideas to get the right effect And a... modyfing and upgrading is one thing, I guess that Your pirates should win themselves a newer and safer ship, because with this oldtimer they'll never now when it'll decide to go down

Could be megablocks ir it's just something that i'm simply unfamiliar with Still, fits well so...

Ok. So I gues i should show my army too Not that one could call it an "army". Well, but their numbers are still growing. Let's just call them "special forces", very very elite troops among the whole forces... that of course can not be shown on any pictures because they just wouldn't fit in Anyway, here it goes: Starting with my bluecoats. Here's their lineup: As You can see there're my regular soldiers on the very left wearing proper high quality uniforms, tricornss and regular rifles. They use red epaulettes. Gentelmen next to them in yellow epaulettes and in bicornes are members of a local garrison. They guard the cities and fortresses and rarely go into action in the field as it's line infantry's job Two formations in bandanas are irregulars ( striped shirts ) and border troops ( all in blue ). Behind them are supply forces - wagon drivers, animal handlers. They're presented here with their friendly mascot. And... where's his army there's a king himself! You can recognize him by his ceremonial golden sword. He's here on a unofficial inspection and so is not wearing an uniforms anymore as he's ready to retire and give the throne to his reightfull hair, here with a silver sword and in royal musketeer's outfit. Also, on the pictute are two members of his devoted indian bodyguards, as these fearsome warriors are recruited in uncovered forrests and serve their monarch with their heart and soul. Now let's go for some close-ups: "Infantry" - regulars with their commander. Irrigeulars are right behind them. And elite border troops at the end. Kind and his son meeting with supply troopers and their sweet little puppy. Loyal native guards are always close of course! And here're the heroes, sporting their traditional mohawk haircuts... and holding their deadly tomahawks at all times. And garrison members of course, visitors salute them honouring their great work. Ok. So that's it for today. I'll show my redcoats as soon as I'll mobilize them for a group picture

No problemo dude, no problemo After all, we all have to deal with our brilliance first thing in the morning when we look in the mirror, it's terrifying how great one can be

Yeay, it's good to have one talented daughter That looks very nice Anyway, seems that someone is preparing to board those blues. So are these more like pikes or did want to do some kind of grappling hooks ( or "grapnels" are they called? )? I'd add some musket stations, to repel the attack. And correct me if i'm wrong but You've apparently replaced some of the pirate crew. Roger is gone somewhere ( or maybe he's doing some strategy in his cabin ) and Your helmsman lost his hat somewhere ( or maybe it's just his tradition to take if off before battle ) Oh, and some should tell Admiral Pruiett that his watchman on the top is blind, he's obviously looking for a pirate ship in a completely wrong direction And of course, it's always great to see a steward with a broom that continues to perform his duties whatever circumstances

Maybe I've missed something, but what did You use for that beautiful surface? And of course lovely build, lovely picture, lovely crew. I even realy like Your hand made flag. This is somewhat a mixture of xvi and xvii century galleons. Was is for purpose? You gave it a large forecastle which was rather uncommon during later times
-
Seems that one of those sailors is wearing a xix/xx century marine cap Still, i like his custom uniform very much Belle epoque offers a lot of great outfits and headgears, that are much closer to our times And i can't see clearly what did You use for gun carriages. These are not the standard ones, as i can't spot any wheels...
-
Do more close-ups It seems that bluecoat's ships has a much bigger cabin, while pirate galleon got itself more guns istead. So it looks that Cpt Roger prefers armanents to personal comforts, while blue admiral follows the other way. For a minute I thought that those buildings behind Your ships are actually Legos too And I see that there's a meme in elvish, hobbitish, whatever, something tolkienish

Could be. A lot of votes to count though, still, worth a thought Categories seem right. Well, that's what we are all always looking for I'm not sure only if the number of points is not too big. 1-10 always makes a lot of people to lose it at some point. They'll forget their own criteria, giving a lot of hight notes for nor reason really. It's just like with giving points to movies. A lot of viewers think that 6-7 is already a pretty good note. And a movie needs to be masterpiece to get 9-10. They're just curious when judging something. While many other, especially younger viewers give most 10s or 1s just because thye've liked something or not. So this way some of the creations would end up getting way too many points, because of different ways of judgemenet. It doesn't sound fair. Making 1-5 would make it much easier, I guess.

That would be "gun carriage" Actually i like they he did this barrel with tires much more

That's exactly my thought. Or even simple stories including some of the characters, official or not. There's always a chance to do something based on the universe, but not totally set in it. You know, like with Red Sonja. Everybody knows that Arnie plays Konan but since ge's not presenting himself as Conan, the whole thing is not set withing his universe I'd say that fanbase is already split since the beginning. And I'm not a huge fan of Lotr and Hobbit adaptations to tell the truth, I can see what Christopher Tolkien doesn't like in Jackson's approach. What interests me are legal issues, if they could do something more or are they strictly narrowed to Lotr and Hobbit. Other thing is that developing new movies and stories based on the universe and their look would totally depend on the approach of the creators. There's as much chance that someone would destroy the whole thing, as that it could be even better than Tolkien's creation itself.

I wouldn't call Elves "Lego". Can't stand these dolls. Can't understand why couldn't they release Friends with normal minifigures. Without those new ones they would like just as new Paradisa

Then You still have to discover Pirate sets Good to have You here... whatever Your name is Welcome
