I know it's hard to answer in writing, but can anybody answer this: what where the sounds on the space version of the 9V sound siren? It's this one : http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4774c02#T=C Just curious since I only have the town version :) Never mind, I just found the sound button on BL. I encourage everybody to listen to that, it is what heaven must sound like!

In the costumization forum there are a bunch of topics that will answer all those questions :)

There definedly were sets where you had to cut the flex tube, I had one that was a yellow truck with a crane on it, and you had to cut it to make the alternate built which was a harbour crane.

There where some reoccurring logos in the 80s-90s, like this one for transportation http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4864apx13#T=C But I think Octan was the only one that had a name. The box and arrow one once came on a sticker sheet for an idea book that also had some yellow stickers that said 'international transport' but I don't think that was supposed to be the name.

You Can also replace the modified plate With a regular 2xX plate and place some 1x2x1 panels on it and the will latch on to studs in the chassis, then make sure you build the chassis back on top of the snotted elements to hold them in place. This will give you a really solid structure. Again, I hope it makes sense, on my phone at work:)

You Can also take 2 headlight bricks, 1 1x1 technic brick and a 1x1 plate, place the one headlight brick in the other with the vertical stud facing down, put the 1x1 plate on the downwards facing stud, then place the 1x1 technic brick at the end. I hope it makes sense, this will give you a 1x3 brick with the middle stud facing down.

It's a crusader torso where the golden axe print has faded. I have a bunch too and some where the shield is blue, those are missing the lion.

Thanks for the tip, this looks quite useful!

Hi everybody, Does anybody know of a place online with massive amounts of photos of American emergency vehicles. We have this excellent one with Danish and some Swedish vehicles http://redningunik.dk/fronten by Jonas Koch. I need some detailed shots of various interiors since I am considering building se US rescue trucks, but so far I haven't been able to find one place that has various fire/rescue services and interior shots. The Danish one is really great, it has vehicles from most local fire departments all organized in categories and with very detailed photos both exterior and interior. Check it out;)

Car doors or panels - opinion wanted for next project
emilstorm replied to SearchFunction's topic in LEGO Town
Car doors, always car doors! Nice design by the way :) -
I'm 99% percent sure that is someone's MOC, it looks a little to stylistically confused to be a set.

Making casts, casting pieces
emilstorm replied to Hidronax's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
If you do it all inside the oven it will probably to harden, I just am not sure you will be able to get it in there and get a good result. I think the melted plastic will be to thick and you will get massive bubbles in there. But it is worth a try of course, maybe try and shake it a little and bang it against the oven bottom to get rid of bubbles. I wish you the best of luck with it and really hope you can make it work, I will definedly have to try too if it works :) -
Making casts, casting pieces
emilstorm replied to Hidronax's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
The problem with silicon is not the temperature but the pressure from the injection. Unfortunately you can't just pour it in because it is too thick and it would start to harden before it fills up the mold. Instead of pure metal molds you can make molds in epoxy encased in metal, much cheaper and you can just have one metal holder thingy and different epoxy inserts. But you can't really get around the injection if you want to use ABS and have good quality. Another solution could be resin casting which is much easier to do at home :) -
Making casts, casting pieces
emilstorm replied to Hidronax's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I have had the same idea often :) it is definedly possible not as easy as it sounds. I don't know what temperature is required, but if you google ABS plastic it should come up. You will need to do injection molding and silicone molds will not do for that, you will need metal ones. Having molds made will be really expensive unless you know somebody who does CNC. Last time I searched the web for manual injection molding kits I could only find one, I forgot the name but it should be easy to google it. Once you have everything together the process itself looks quite easy, and the melted plastic hardens up almost instantly. Actually brickarms started out doing it this way, grinding up black 1x2 bricks and manually injecting their little guns in one single mold. And they are doing pretty good now :) http://www.easyplasticmolding.com here it is:) -
I have done this trick to make some hydraulic rams for my firefighters. They move in and out pretty smoothly, and the friction is still strong enough for them to hold some weight. I have also tried it just for little hydraulic pistons and they work well for that purpose too. I used flex tube and the thin part of a long antenna.

Looking for Precise Print Removal Tips
emilstorm replied to Silent Nomad's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Mask the print you Want to keep with tape, then use eraser/Brasso or any other method on the rest. -
If the scratches are not to deep brasso Will get them looking as good as new. If they have deeper scratches, sand them first, then Brasso. It is a lot of work though :)

I always draw my creations too, I just do it on some millimeter paper. To me it is much easier than using any of the Lego construction programs.

Nice work, awesome microscopes :)

I am not sure cutting these is 'non purist'. I am pretty sure I had a set once where you had to cut it to make the alternative model. So I consider it 100% kosher. I might be wrong though :)

My experience is that the bricks have a lot less friction than plates.

That robot is awesome!

Great designs all around, the 2 seater is brilliant. And the Blacktron one is cool too, I like the simplicity in contrast to the others.
