  1. Interesting question. I always thought they specialized in one or a couple of themes. In earlier days at least, and at least to me, there seemed to be a distinct difference in building techniques in different themes. But there might be someone in the Embassy forum that would know for sure. I think it would be interesting for some of us nerds to know who designed all these sets :)
  2. Thanks for the replies, I didn't have my hopes up too high, especially since I was curious about such old sets. But he was definetly working on some space stuff. A lot of Mtron and Blacktron stuff in the pile.
  3. Hello Eurobrickers, Does anybody know of a place online where you can find out who designed each set. I recently bought about 20 pounds of bricks, and it turned out the previous owner was a set designer in the early 90's. So now I am pretty curious about which sets he designed.
  4. I have used brasso to remove scratches from old 80's canopies, it works quite well for that, so I would think it will do for removing print as well.
  5. Very nice build, brings back memories of watching Delicatessen as a kid :)
  6. About a week ago i got one of these axes http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3835 in old dark grey. That would be my rarest part.
  7. If you are lucky enough to have "unlimited" Lego time you could get an adjustable desk. That would allow you to alternate, which is supposed to be the healthiest. My own limited experience is that I ended up only sitting down though. So just make sure you have a comfy chair :)
  8. If you put am old rag on a table with a little bit if Brasso on it, and then put some weight in and rub in little circles, you can do a torso in less than 5 seconds. And the surface will still look nice and shiny:)
  9. Did you shake the bottle before before applying the Brasso?
  10. I have had torso stickers done at my local print shop a couple of times, and they have always turned out pretty nice. One thing to keep in mind is the background color of the sticker if you use white in your design. Unless they can print with white ink it will of course come out transparent on a transparent sticker. I just grouped the ones that had white in them on one sheet and had that one printed on white sticker. But most printshop have really good quality these days, just remember to save the file in the right resolution and size as stated in the other response above:)
  11. Looks very cool, and nice Korben and Leeloo :)
  12. Brasso is completely safe and has been used by many for years to remove prints from bricks. You can also dip your pieces in various kinds of polish, there are a couple of threads with good pictures on the forum somewhere.
  13. It actually just grinds off a tiny layer of the surface. The liquid in Brasso is only there to help apply it evenly and "keep it together". It works just as well if you let it dry up and then start rubbing, that will take care of some of the smell too :)
  14. You may already know this, but I just had a new great experience. I just tried Brasso on an old canopy from way back in the 80s and it actually worked pretty good. After about 30 seconds of rubbing all of the tiny scratches were gone and left the piece transparent again. It does not take care of the "deep" scratches, but the pieces look almost like new again. Unfortunately I did not take any photos but did a before and after comparison by looking through the piece at the fence in my backyard, and it went from total blur to " whoa , nice fence". I personally like this better than dipping my stuff in polish since it actually removes the scratches rather then fill them up.
  15. It looks really good so far, and nice to see some of those good old technic bricks :) you could maybe make the angle a bit steeper on the front to get the perfect look, it looks a little too short over all, I think it might just be the angle on the front.
  16. Definedly one of my favorites too! That one and the red hand truck, I love these but never ever use them for some reason.
  17. You can also attach the end of a string to a stud using this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4592 or a similar one. Just put the end of the string through the hole and spread some of the flossy end around the stud and slide the part down over it. It will hold on stronger than you would think :)
  18. Super nice one, love the furniture and kitchen! Is it true that a skyscraper is called "shack on shack on shack on shack......" In Norwegian :p
  19. It might also work if you place either a 1 x 2 tile or a 1 x 2 x 1 panel with the panel facing outwards on top of each section, and then mount a 8 x 8 round plate on top. I am not sure the round plate fits but the panels would sort of cover it :)
  20. That's tinier than I thought :) have you tried attaching one of those 2 x 4 wedge plates in each section? The angle might be to shallow so maybe 2 x 3 wedges and then cover the middle with a 4 x 4 round plate.
  21. How many studs is each wall section?
  22. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/257825 http://mocpages.com/moc.php/248744 I don't know if these will suit your tower but they might be good inspiration :)
  23. The acetone will create little "bubbles" in the new parts and they will become very brittle. And the substance is like glue, so it is very difficult and very unpractical to use in molds.
  24. Thanks so much, I will trust LDD and get me some axes!
  25. Can somebody help, I would like to know how long this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=95330pb01 is measured in studs. I need it to fit a certain place and was just hoping somebody could tell me before I go through the trouble of ordering one :) Please let it be less than 4 studs...
