  1. Sorry, but I disagree. While the tractor by itself is not bad, it's just a copy of the 8284 with its functions wasted, just like the 75098 Assault on Hoth and the 10249 Winter Toy Shop aren't bad on their own but bad because they're nothing more than repackagings of older sets.
  2. What about, for example, the 8063?
  3. On a computer you can enable auto-translated subtitles, I'm not sure about mobile devices.
  4. Agreed. The eyepatch gave it personality and went well with the "tough" look of the truck. Plus, my mother collects LEGO teddy bears (she loved the big one at Paredes de Coura Fan Weekend), and this would be one more to add to the collection...
  5. For example, the 8264 Hauler uses Bionicle parts to simulate its engine. I think the 42049 Mine Loader, with its Hero Factory barrel, is by him too.
  6. Yes, I think I wrote a few pages back that, this year being PF'S 10th anniversary, it would be a good opportunity to introduce PF2 to Technic. But I have reasons to believe that, despite the Educational Division having said in tier press release that PF2 would make its way to Technic, the Technic team isn't backing that claim up.
  7. I agree: making the 42070 in regular blue would be a lot more beneficial for parts palette. Also, bright green is why I didn't care at all about getting a 42039. For example, I don't think it'd look that bad in more "regular" colours:
  8. Yeah, we kept thinking TLG wouldn't make a set with yet another shade of blue. In Portugal, that kind of light blue is often called "azul cueca", "underpants blue".
  9. Not only light blue, blue in general. So it's even worse than what I wrote earlier, with 5 shades of blue for this year instead of "just" 4. So, from light to dark... 42066: medium blue 42059: medium azure 42070: dark azure 42063: blue 42064: dark blue This, together with the 42069's purple and the other sets' regular colours, makes 2017 the most BOLOCs year for Technic.
  10. Is it also the colour of the 42059 and the 42050? I'm at a loss about all these weird colours, I'm from the old-school era of EGA graphics with 16 colours.
  11. From the images so far, I still believe it's medium azure, but of course I could be wrong. Still, regardless of the 42070, we already have regular blue on the 42063, dark blue on the 42064, medium blue on the 42066, and medium azure on the 42059.
  12. That's a good point, especially with this year's "fifty shades of blue" in Technic.
  13. Oh yeah. http://www.hoax-slayer.com/two-crane-accident-photos.shtml
  14. Can it really be a road car? I believe this kind of truck is made to tow heavier vehicles. Although that Eleanor does look sweet...
  15. I'm not sure, but I guess the point is to drive it like a Truck Trial vehicle: for that, getting the precise angle for the wheels is more important than having quick reactions, which return-to-centre helps with. Just remember how imprecise the steering on the 42030 is.
  16. Thanks for the find! So, the 42070 has indeed remotelly-controlled driving and steering, with the user having to manually switch to the other functions. I'm still on the fence about the usability of that, will need to see it in action.
  17. He can eat the space sardines because they have helmets too, obviously!
  18. On the Play Store there are several gamepad tester apps you can try, like this one.
  19. Well, in some markets (most notably North America) the B-model of the 8284 was the tractor...
  20. Actually, apart from the colour (because there are few elements in it to MOC with), I like the design: strong and utilitarian. And did you already build one, to know the assembly is boring?
  21. Some tow trucks have cranes, to lift vehicles into towable position. Just do a Google image search.
  22. 31. Here is my entry, Devil's Tongue. Category: Cat B (PF IR) Signature move: Devil's Spoon Functions: it has four-wheel drive powered by two XL motors, and can move upside down. The flipper, "Devil's Spoon", is spring loaded. It has a mechanism that uses a single motor to pull the flipper down and release it, via differential and clutch. The rounded sides, as well as the capability of upside down drive, prevent it from getting stranded by the adversary. Here are some images: Here is a video of it in action: The discussion topic can be found here:
  23. As promised, here are some photos of the finalised model. Indeed the spring-loaded flipper arm is too weak, I'd be better off with a slow, linear actuator-powered lifter arm... And here's a video of it in action: More photos here: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/438490
  24. Hi all! Yesterday at 2 AM (technically it was today already) I finished my entry for the Battle Bots contest. My creation is Devil's Tongue, a wheeled vehicle with a flipper arm. Initially I intended to have spinning drums in the front for the flipping function, hence the name, inspired from Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun: I don't have the demonstration video yet (I hope I'm still on schedule by making it today when I get back from work). Anyway, I can present two WIP videos and a photo of the final product. It's a four-wheel drive vehicle, capable of driving inverted. I wanted to use PP wheels for their grip and weight to make it hard to push and flip, plus their diameter to make more room to fit stuff while keeping the inverted drive ability. However, I found out they're too heavy and grippy for the XL motors (one per pair of wheels) to drive and steer, so I had to resort to Unimog wheels. Here's the test I made with the PP wheels: I wanted to have a fast-acting flipper instead of a slow lifter, so I decided to have it spring-loaded. It uses four of the hardest short springs. To pull the arm down, I built a mechanism that winds a winch when its motor turns in one direction, and disengages it when it turns in the other. Here's a test of the flipper attached to the winch mechanism: After including the armour to avoid being stuck if flipped onto its side, it reaches exactly 45 studs in width and a little less in length. Also, as I have both my SBricks occupied in other MOCs, as well for symmetry, I used two PF IR receivers. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and to ensure line-of-sight reception, the receivers and the battery box are exposed on the rear. I guess it's a matter of never turning my back to the adversary! Here's the photo of the finished product. Astronaut not part of the crew, present for scale only. Later today I intend to make a video and take better pictures. I'm not sure about its performance and battle-worthiness, but at least (IMHO) it looks cool and functional! Whaddayathink?
