  1. This is a Technic set. Of course it has functions.
  2. I have the feeling that nowadays sets are always somehow criticised because they have holes and for not showing the working mechanisms inside. This really baffles me.
  3. Beware of having that taken out of context.
  4. Is that a teaser? Remember, TLG asked to not reveal anything (including teasers) until the release date!
  5. You can install a gamepad tester app (plenty of those at the Play Store), hook it up to your phone/tablet, and see if it works.
  6. SBrick and BuWizz must be breathing a sigh of relief. But PU still has (I hope) the advantage of physical controls without needing the mobile device constantly connected.
  7. I think whoever came up with the "Powered Up" name either doesn't know fans usually refer to the previous (Power Functions) system by its initials, or isn't that familiar with the English language. Explanation:
  8. Hmm, either it's fixed (I hope not), or for initial configuration it requires a phone or tablet. In that case, the pairing problem is also solved by defining on the phone which controller gets bound to which receiver.
  9. I agree that it's the biggest problem. For me, the second biggest problem is usability: tapping images on a touchscreen will never surpass proper physical controls.
  10. It should pair via Bluetooth. I don't know the exact procedure between two "dumb" devices (as opposed to a "smart" device like a phone or a computer), but with 2.4 GHz-based drones, when you turn on the receiver, it enters "pair mode", where it listens for pairing requests. When you turn on the transmitter, it searches for listening receivers and pairs to one of them. This is why it's important to turn on only one tramsitter-receiver pair at a time.
  11. Each pair of "forward/reverse" buttons appears to be rotatable to become "left/right". [offtopic] Nice avatar, by the way!
  12. At least with Milan "Grohl" Reindl, you can have an answer for that by watching his YouTube videos.
  13. Here's another see-if-the-spitball-sticks question: Can we have images of the preliminary models that led up to the final set, like we had for the 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400?
  14. I wonder how ugly would the Chiron turn out if those exact same panels were used, vertically, for those areas behind the doors?
  15. It would be nice to know details about the design and the choices made towards it, but knowing nothing about the model besides its rims makes that a bit hard...
  16. A good basis of extrapolations is Boost and WeDo 2.0, as they use PF 2.0.
  17. That, and a techfig is a complex thing made of many parts and moulds that have to be factory-assembled, which takes from a set's budget that could otherwise be used on more parts/details.
  18. For that I use in my layouts Belville figures. Although they don't have the "technicy" look, they're in the same scale and (at least with the early version) have the same articulation. The biggest difference is that their hands grasp bars like minifigs instead of pins/axles like techfigs.
  19. Preferably without the huge backlash the current 16T gears have.
  20. Exactly, that's why I don't like much the Porsche rims or the Volvo bucket (although in the latter case they managed to reuse it). Still, it's quite likely that whatever new elements introduced (apart from one-offs like the Chiron's rims) will be made in a way to be as reusable as possible.
  21. What about a 4L pin? That would be massively useful. There is also somewhere around here a parts wishlist topic, with lots of useful ideas that so far TLG didn't implement.
  22. I don't have much hope in that. Compared to previous years, this semester has seen practically no new moulds (the only exception being the Mack bulldog), so I suspect the Technic team saved their yearly new moulds budget to spend it all on the 2nd half of the year.
  23. The 2nd steering wheel is for the B-model.
  24. Given the abundance of dark azure in last and this year, as well as the rather gratuitous use of a wheel arch for the Rally Car's spoiler, I wouldn't be surprised if those elements were intended to be used in the Chiron, to help soften the cost of new mould/colour combos.
  25. I'm optimistic in that regard: since there was only a single new mould for this year's first half (the Mack dog), I believe that this year's budget for new moulds went all to the 2H sets.
