[APP] BrickController2
AVCampos replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hmm, I'll look into what the issue might be. Thanks for reporting it. That isn't happening to me (I'm using the Android version): I have a Technic hub amongst my list of known hubs, and can connect to it without searching (or even turning on location).- 1,316 replies

Control+ General Discussion
AVCampos replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The WeDo/Batmobile motor is roughly the same size as PF-M. Unlike the other PUp motors it doesn't have position encoding but neither do the PF motors. -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion

I'm not sure about the elements (design + colour), but I have no doubt at all that we'll see the designs used again: moulds for plastic injection are expensive and, once TLG make one, they'll want to make the most of it. -

That means the Osprey-exclusive parts will have to be available to Customer Support, which in turn might mean they'll appear at BAP. -

Would this mean they have an EB account to snoop around here? -

Elements and battery box, besides B&P, will surely become available also in other sets. -
That can be solved by ditching the 42113 set number and assigning a new one, effectively making a whole new set that happens to have the same parts list as another. A set renaming due to corrections has happened before, with the 10213 (again with the 13, see a pattern here?)/10231.

While I'd love that you and that store were be right, I'm not keeping my hopes up. Less than a month is just too short a time to recall, redesign and repackage a few (thousands?) of sets.

Sequential gearbox. -
Yes. Definitely yes. There's the problem of the parts being distributed by numbered bags according to the Osprey model's specific build order logic, but that can be overcome by pouring all bags together, re-distributing the parts amongst unnumbered bags according to part type/size/colour/whatever, and marketing the resulting set as "a more challenging build, for 18+".

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
AVCampos replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
JANG said in a live video that this whole ordeal most likely wasn't precipitated by a few guys protesting in front of a LEGO store, but rather their own internal decision makers realising waaaaay too late that this set bent too much their self-imposed rule of "no real-life modern military stuff". That makes sense and I agree with him on that. Independently of such a model being OK or not to be sold to kids, what went wrong was how absurdly late in the development process the "no-go" decision was made. -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion

They're thinking about it. The difference is that this one is licensed from a plane that in real life allegedly exists only in military versions, whereas the others can technically represent anything. That's the most baffling question of all... -
⬆ This. The only real distinction between the 42113 (unlucky set number indeed) and the other LEGO tiltrotors is that this one can be unequivocally linked to something some people only associate with warfare. If this were a generic SAR tiltrotor, everything would be fine and we could get those DBG panels and black propeller blades (at least for non-unicorn-poop prices).

Cobi pours out military sets from their ears, and they didn't bat an eye; yet TLG launches a set that has connections to the military, and they lose their minds. Why? Because TLG gives them a lot more notoriety.

The 42113 is being reviewed internally by TLG due to it being manufactured by a company that usually does military stuff. -
They have been making Osprey-like aircraft in the past with no issues, not to mention the 42066. I guess what's ruffling feathers here is this being an unambiguous model of an Osprey. TLG has stated many times that their "line in the sand" is modern weapons, i.e. what a child of today could possibly see in real life killing real people. Old weapons, such a medieval, pirates, western and, yes, WW1 (and even WW2 for Indiana Jones sets), and futuristic weapons, such as Star Wars and Alien Conquest, are given a pass.
-
Probably, but TLG needs to send the review copies for the reviewers to have something to review.

The app version shown still isn't final, so it could include that feature later. Perhaps they would require too much space due to being made to connect only to the large CV joint?

He did, didn't you see the 42070 effortlessly move on the grass alongside the 42114? Oh wait... And all that because there are no external markings on the motor to indicate the hardware's absolute zero, so the software has to assign a new zero depending on the position the motor's axle was when the user assembled the model. Thankfully the angular/SPIKE motor avoids that nonsense: just have the instructions say "move the motor's axle until the two markings match", just like the advice they make when building things using the PF servo.
