  1. Under "new items" on S@H, the sets Death Star, Grand Emporium & Tower Bridge have appeared. I wonder what that means? Are they getting another run? Strange.
  2. I deliberately try to stay away from other themes if I can manage. But I dabbled in Ninjago 1.0 & POTC for the Castley stuff. I'm more interested in an entire theme of ships/vehicles/bases than the individual sets/models, so while there's been some cool looking spaceship-ish stuff, I've left it alone. I intend to grab the $30 & $40 Ultra agents sets when they're released. (2nd & 3rd cheapest) I love the look of that line, but I need to limit my spending.
  3. Seems that the "mirror, mirror on the wall" must be from side-show alley to make Snow White "the fattest of them all"
  4. Assuming that this poll is still open, I would like to add a vote for the following:
  5. (I agree with a lot of Master of Puppets' post.) I want to mention a few things regarding the poll and comments. I put that the site is "undermoderated" and that there is negative effect. It isn't too bad, but I think it could be improved in some areas, that's all. (Negative as in detrimental, not negative as in the military sense.) But by that, I meant that some parts of the forum often seem to be flooded with off-topic or unnecessary posts, and a lot of unnecessary topics get started by the same people, and that there are too many obviously underage members. I just think that the staff could confront people a bit more about their unnecessary clutter. It's getting harder to sift for the news in some news topics. I can probably find it elsewhere easier these days. Regarding the new topics each year question, I think that there should be (as is already the case) a separate topic for discussion for each theme per year. Not a new topic for a theme that has no new sets that year. E.g., in the History subforum: a Castle sets 2013, LOTR / Hobbit sets 2013 (or separate), & Hobbit sets 2014 topic. No LOTR sets 2014, Castle sets 2014 or Hobbit sets 2015 (unless it becomes a reality, but probably not) topic. What there isn't but could be, is a general theme discussion that needs no new thread each year. E.g. Castle or LOTR theme general Lego discussion etc. I suppose it would be all the future ideas, specific questions and general comments. That would be fairly free-flowing but allows the actual real information to be nicely separated from it. It also possibly prevents things like umpteen "what do you want to see in the next iteration of history themed sets" where the pages long discussion is pretty much the same every time. It seems to me that a lot of people just want to chit-chat or ramble about things around a topic, and this might be an outlet that doesn't get in other people's way. I think perhaps some people are a bit lonely day or night and want interaction with other EB AFOLs in a casual manner. Don't they just... I've been reading this forum most days for 4 years, and I have to say that's it's been a pleasant experience. I appreciate all of the volunteered work by staff past & present. I joined because it was active and informative. I stayed because it's mature and creative. I'm still a novice moc builder, but the collecting and building of sets is still fun. The reviews are often very professional in appearance and content, a billion times better than you get elsewhere. I enjoy the contests even though some are too hard for me to find the time or parts or courage to enter.
  6. That's what I thought. Only now do I hear this... It arrived today guys.
  7. And you can argue that Ghostbusters fits C as well. I'm certain that Dr Who would sell big time, pending licence approval I expect it to pass.
  8. Bummer! I don't have any senate commandos.
  9. Again, the name Tinkerbell. I don't think "Elves" will be pink & purple. Perhaps on the box. I'm expecting soft green & blue pastelly colours. But if in fact it is "Fairies" and not "Elves" - well it could be anything. Regardless, I like the idea of this theme but am obviously disappointed that it isn't a Castle subtheme, like I'd been hoping for prior to even the first rumour. That's a thought. But not very useful in LOTR, those elves all have the same long hair, and same ear colour.
  10. *throws tomatoes too late*
  11. I assume that it shipped. The payment went through 2 weeks ago, and I received the invoice email. Tracking info on AusPost site says current status is "in transit", with "shipping information received" on 5/8, and "shipping information approved" on 12/8. For those times, the tracking info on the link on my order page says "picked up" and "shipment tendered" on 5/8, and "arrived at terminal location - alexandria bulk lodgement cent(re)" on 12/8. I usually receive the box within a week of that. I don't know if that means my parcel got to Sydney or if they just acknowleged & approved its existence.
  12. I haven't received my Exo-Suits yet. Ordered as soon as available on 1st of August. I've waited 3 weeks for S@H orders before, but never 4.
  13. Notice that most of those fit at least 1 of 2 categories. Commercial brand/product, or big and impressive. Big and impressive will get attention & votes, but won't pass. Commercial brand/product might pass, but it's not truly an original idea, is it. Original ideas are what I am thinking are going to be hard to get attention. ie, similar to that birds Idea, those projects are what I'd like to see get made - truly original projects. If it fails because it doesn't seem recognisable enough, then that sets a disappointing precedent. For the sake of the future of Ideas me too.
  14. Typical, I'm wrong on the Internet on the day my browser is slower than the first person to read and immortalise my wrongness before I can edit my post. Thanks.
  15. Not quite true. A part that is of a licenced trade mark is not the same as a part used in a licenced theme. It would be really funny, but at the same time really disappointing. Tinkerbell theme in minidolls. Would be awesome if I was slightly a girl. But I am a man.
  16. That is what people were saying last year. You missed the wink smiley... That would bring great joy to my heart. And sorrow.
  17. September. So not long now, depending on where you live. We find out the release times from the twice a year catalogue (which I only saw for the first time on Saturday) or from a Lego rep if you happen to find one, and perhaps in the Lego Club magazine? Someone with access to it could give an answer to that one.
  18. I suppose that after the first year has past, a lot of old projects will finally disappear, giving more visability to non-expired projects. But there will probably still be stacks and stacks of new kiddie mocs or those mentioned in my previous post to wade through that will never pass. The more attention Ideas gets, the more dumb or not quite awesome ideas will be submitted. I don't know... You'd just have to market your idea a lot to get support from outside the site, then hope you can get the ball rolling. Fine if there's a specific nerd market group like Ghostbusters, BTTF, classic space fans etc, but anything not attached to an existing IP?
  19. Probably true most of the time here too. They prefer the package deals then. Revenue or reward mustn't be worth the time spent on the other infringements I suppose.
  20. I would say a lot less. With the new 1 year window to get support, I can't see all that many projects reaching 10000 in time. Plus, most projects that reach 10000 are destined to fail review for obvious reasons that we've talked about a billion times already (too big, too "adult", too licenced, new moulds etc). I think after the current batch in review, that it may be quite some time before another project is greenlit.
  21. Multi-laned roundabouts can make it confusing or difficult to get out of. If you are going straight ahead or less, you typically stick to the outer-most (of the circle) lane. If you are going further around, go with the inner-most lane, but you need to get out of that lane before you want to exit, or you'll get stuck, or get run into. I just remembered one on a road near my house, there used to be 2 T-junctions that were close together. One side street had low visibility and the other had a steep incline that was hard to get out of. The council ended up building a peanut shaped roundabout that covered the whole area. Has vastly improved the traffic there, only problem being that to go "straight ahead" you take an F1 race track type of route!
  22. What happened to impulse sets? They were retired when Collectible Mini-Figures were introduced. Simple as that. Since that time we've also seen the introduction of Mixels & Friends series polybags. Polybags take up less shelf space than boxes. They are most likely cheaper to produce and distribute. "Impulse" sets are more like $5 and under, ie the same price point as the 3 ongoing polybag series we have at the moment. Those microfighters are $16 here, hardly an impulse buy to the non-AFOL. In US dollars, I would say $2-4 is what we're talking about.
  23. You can always cover the torso with an armour piece. I don't remember what his back looks like, but sometimes you can reverse torsos and cover the other side with a cape, backpack, hair etc. If you feel it isn't sacrilegous you can otherwise remove the print. I think I have 3 Yaznegs.
