The other SW minifigs with tan coloured skin (Luminara Unduli, Barriss Offee) look a bit green next to fleshies. Maybe they didn't think it would quite work. Honestly I think those 2 jedi should've been olive green, but that wasn't around back then and sand green wouldn't've looked good on them.

A couple of good puns, and that was a Jawa update that certainly didn't happen too soon!

Lego Batman spinoff will replace The LEGO Movie 2 in 2017
Artanis I replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Too much Batman. Next year I'll be buying only my first SH set (Green Lantern spaceship thing) and that would take the tally to 3 Batman minifigs despite having no Batman sets. Batman is pretty cool, but there is this thing called "overdoing it" One of those sounds awesome to me -

The X-Men set has been on S@H for a long time. But Ultra Agents were available there for months before hitting retail. -
A bow TIE fighter?

The Episode II sets were released to coincide with the 3D re-release in cinemas. As were the Episode III sets. Both movies were cancelled, but the Lego sets were released anyway. Nothing to do with anniversaries. Now we have Rebels sets being released to coincide with the new TV show. Soon, we will have Episode VII sets to coincide with that movie's release. Every wave a bunch of "nothing to do with the rest" sets get released too. This year's midyear wave was heavy on that, because there wasn't actually any SW media out at the time.

2015 The LEGO Movie rumors and discussion
Artanis I replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
You guys are talking like I'm complaining that the seats don't open up, or that I want them to, or that any other AFOL would. No. I am surprised that TLG hasn't included what I perceived to be a VERY memorable feature in the movie, and that surely it can't have been too difficult to include. Given TLGs track record, play features very often take precedence over model accuracy. Just ask anyone in the SW forum. They also include play features (FF missiles?!) that weren't even in the source material. Just ask anyone in the LOTR/Hobbit topics. Apparently the kids love that stuff anyway. -
I find your "reviews" interesting, so this was another one I watched thanks to your comments. The words "tedious" & "dull" were what won me over... "Hmmm, sounds like a good slow movie in set in space, I'll check it out!" I actually enjoyed it, contrary to most opinions I've heard. It was pretty much 90 minutes of character exploration, but despite nothing happening for the most part I never got bored. I laughed quite a few times especially near the start. The awkwardness exceeded my preferred limit at times though.

Remember that there are 2 waves of SW sets per year, the mid-year sets get promoted for months so all the parents know by Christmas what to get. Then the retailers clear out that stock in time for the new wave to land. If the new sets landed before Christmas there would be too much "old" stuff left behind.

The only play feature that the couch has, and they couldn't modify the thickness of the seats to include it in the model. Very unTLGlike. -

From what I can tell, there are no underseat compartments on the double decker couch. I find that curious. I love that ghost Vitruvius, that bit in the movie was so funny I cried. And I don't know why we need another Batman? Aren't there enough superhero sets with him included? Same. But I don't need those minifigs again. Oh well. 2/3 sets for me I think. -
I watched the Rebels episode last night, and afterwards had a look at the set boxes that are still sitting waiting to be opened. As soon as I realised that there was only 1 Rebels style stormtrooper, I thought "I'll have to get a bunch more of those..." then realised ITT, and immediately thought "TLG, you sneaky bastards!" Looks like that set is as good as sold, despite being not-the-variant many fans wanted. What a sucker I am.

They are in good condition. Mine are yellowed

It's a nice upgrade to the playset that we got, and I think everyone would agree that it was a bit underwhelming. The sail looks really good, must be a decent printer! Yes, the boat does look very familiar , are the blue turret pieces from the old boat or the recent Juniors set?

It looks really good, but yet again a season based skin is 6 months out of sync for me. It is Spring in Australia. Do the skins really have to be based on weather/climate/seasons that don't transfer worldwide? I know that we in the South are a minority, and if it's a party for you guys I don't like to poop it, but... it is a bit weird for me! Again.

I would agree that as a rule, physical & digital entries should be judged separately. Then you can allow any colour for LDD entries, and it doesn't disadvantage physical entries. (I'm sure that TLG would like Eurobricks to be encouraging AFOLs to spend money on Lego for their building hobby, rather than exclusively using a computer. ) I don't know what to suggest for this particular situation, it doesn't affect me since I didn't do an LDD entry with or without the colour infractions, I built with bricks. I can imagine how allowing unintentional rule-breaking entries can make someone whose entry was limited by sticking to the rules feel hard done by. A bit like (but not the same as) your entry being limited to whatever quantity of certain parts that you personally have, where someone else may have plenty (or in the case of digital entries, unlimited quantities!). I mean that the feeling is similar, not the magnitude. -
How to delete background in picture?
Artanis I replied to Admiral Khan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Depending on the photo and your background, it may just be a difficult task that requires work. You can either use colour, brightness, saturation filters to fade the background to white, or you can do what I do (and is necessary if your photo doesn't have a "green screen" look to it already). I create a new layer, place it under the original and use the paint bucket to make it a solid colour. Then I do 1 or a combination of 2 things: either select chunks of background using the magic wand or by drawing around them, and press delete. This will make that selection transparent, therefore showing up the solid colour on the other layer (which in your case, is a clean white). If your model has colours that are similar to the background, the magic wand can be problematic. Drawing can be long meticulous work. Here is a recent one I did, original photo on the left. Obviously I didn't use a solid colour for the background this time. Anywhere you see the speckly blue I had to zoom in, draw around and delete something. Because the lighting wasn't great, the grey & white parts were too close in colour to the backgound to just use the magic wand or filters, I had to do it manually. Hope that helps! -

Entry #2... Kingdoms Dragons Exo Suit Not much time to embellish the story, but the green Dragon Knight from Kingdoms has built a little stronghold suit, with large shield & flail. The gates open to reveal a little turret to sit in. Behind him is a prison where a previous red Lion Knight enemy was chained up and left to rot (as he should be). Obligatory mini catapult on top of the tower! More pictures here... -
Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Artanis I replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I got a Toyworld catalogue via email. The sale has 20 participating stores, so you'll need to check if your locals are involved or not. Mine wasn't on the list. 10 pages + cover dedicated to Lego, some sets are discounted, some aren't. You know the drill. They are advertising that the SW Advent Calendar is only at Toyworld. All calendars are $50. For some reason, the Simpsons house (at rrp) is labelled as "CUSSOO" (sic). There is a free Arctic polybag with $40 catalogue purchases.
