  1. In the last few days: Jason & the Argonauts (stop motion fx are funny these days) The Grand Budapest Hotel (didn't know what to expect so a few double-blink moments, some good laughs) The Lego Movie (again, and I cried from laughing... again) Ender's Game (excellent modern sci-fi) Prisoners (veeery interesting. Starring Huge Ackman & Donnie Darkonhaal. Did NOT expect the ending.)
  2. No Mr about it, just plain old Toyworld. Didn't realise there was a difference when it came to catalogues.
  3. Saw the Toyworld catalogue earlier, nothing much regarding discounts, but they are advertising the winter village set ($160), Tower Bridge ($400), and Palace Cinema ($200). Bike shop is $90. Piece of Resistence polybag with $40 spent on Lego catalogue items. Starts Thursday.
  4. Yes, but, many cities (or parts of large cities) with these department stores wouldn't be getting a Lego brand shop. Even if we get one each in Melbourne, Sydney & SEQ there will be a lot of EBers who previously had physical access to exclusive sets that will no longer do so. I can tell you we'll certainly be regularly hearing complaints from an angry tiger...
  5. BIG Whopping $1.99 saving for the AV Cannon, anyone would think that they had no competition on that set. Oh, wait.
  6. Yes they are. They only way it could've been better was if it said "get" instead of "secure"
  7. $389 at Target. So probably more... Looks really underwhelming at a glance for that price. (Should've got POTC ships during the 5 minutes they were available!) Big saggy box. Probably a huge ship when you build it, but it doesn't look worth buying to even get to that possible experience.
  8. You went for Apple Man, didn't you...
  9. Every time I see the title of this thread (like just now) I say "thank God"... They may have had slow fashion sense but at least they weren't ever pulling terrible faces that made you cringe.
  10. It's from The Phantom set, upcoming Rebels show.
  11. Funny, because I'll be grabbing it as soon as possible. I won't be kragling mine though.
  12. All it gave him was big muscles, which he always used to beat up the bad guys with. (20 atom bombs packed into a fist? Sounds like "excessive force" to me... ) "Got problems kids? Take performance enhancing drugs and bash everyone up." The robot aliens were funny though. Bzzt click Roger click mm Ramjet mm click click
  13. Bananaman was great. Silly, yes. He was usually pathetic but got the accolades when the day was won anyway, but still funny. It was a kid's show after all. So much better than Roger Ramjet... Too right.
  14. They make announcements every 3 months. Doesn't mean they make decisions every 3 months. Research Institute may have passed review 2 months ago, but they waited until the time was up before making the announcement. And you don't "win" a review. You "pass" a review. You have to pass the test, not win the race/fight. I don't believe it's a competition, unless there are many excellent candidates. Even if 3 sets passed review each season, that's 12 sets per year. A drop in the ocean compared to how many total Lego sets are released each year. Am I wrong, or did 2 sets pass the last review? So how then could it be a competition? Whaaat... Some of that viability questioning has been justified though, since they skipped a 3rd LOTR wave and left a hole of unmade characters & scenes, particularly from ROTK.
  15. It was worth someone doing it just to see how those plates wobble on impact! Slow motion destruction always looks interesting to me, I watched this again today. (I could never do this myself of course, and I hope no Lego parts were harmed in the making of this film.) Really cool how the storm trooper helmet is spinning like that.
  16. That varies. I have some American boxes from last year that were glued, and some non American boxes with the sticky tape.
  17. She looks a bit creepy to me. And why is she bent over like a hunchback?
  18. Well I'm glad it's going ahead since it's a nice looking set, and not surprised one bit that the others aren't. I'm also glad that they managed to find a way to cool the hot potato. Sorry Faefrost, I like the fit of my metaphor better than yours, but it still made me smile. And I would buy the set for the dinosaur no matter what gender the minifigs were. Regarding next batch, I would buy the birds. I don't mind if it fails though. I would probably buy a Doctor Who set, depending on how it turns out. I'm not a fan of the recent years show, it's a bit childish for my taste so unless it was David Tennant or an old doctor I would likely pass. If it came with a dalek I could hardly say no. Shall have to wait and see. I don't think the others will pass. The train is too big and relatively obscure. Everyone knows the Delorean, but who in comparison knows the train that only appeared right at the end of the 3rd movie? Someone's a thinker!
  19. Yeah, sold out in 1 day... not good. Been waiting for this set for months already.
  20. I was thinking the same, but then I realised I won't be getting the set anyway and have all of the Mandalorian minifigs, so it makes no difference to me in the end!
  21. Big movement on S@H with new products for June, and free Balloon Cart set with orders over $100. As already mentioned, new SW & Ghostbusters sets are up. Also Duplo, Juniors, Friends, Ninjago, Chima, Mixels, Minecraft, Agents, Arctic, The Lego Movie and Super Heroes. These sets should either hit retail this month or next. No sign of the yet unknown/unconfirmed SW sets, only the ones we already knew all about. In separate news, I don't know if the sale is still going or not, but EB Games had some big slashes in PC & console Lego games yesterday. LOTR for $9!
  22. Yeah I saw Frozen on Friday, I didn't think the songs were that great. Animation was good, humour was good, Disneyfied story was okay but not great. Some of it didn't really make much sense to me (hows and whys). Afterwards I found out it was originally Hans Christian Andersen, so I really want to find out how his version ended.
  23. I think that one is regional, I've heard that in the States the words "pop" "soda" and "coke" are often used generically for carbonated drinks depending on where you are. Certainly in Australia if we say "coke" we only mean Coca Cola. If we say "cola", we mean any cola. If we ask for cola, we get whichever brand is there. If we ask for coke we get Coca Cola or if they don't have it they'll usually say "Pepsi?". The generic term here is either "fizzy cordial" or "soft drink" (depending on whether you're comparing it with alcohol or water cordial/fruit juice). Haha. Sometimes those swap arrangements don't work out. One time my present was a lottery ticket and some scratch cards. I won $2. Everyone else got boxes of chocolate. I miss the days of receiving Lego for Christmas!
  24. They are wider at the top than at the bottom, are they not?
  25. I'm curious as to how my comment is so hilarious when I gave a first-hand example of what behaviour I dislike and the consequence of it (that curiously was consistent with your stated exception to your own rule). Did you read more than the first line of my post? No need to be so disrespectful just because you disagree with some posts in this topic. This is a forum for adults, not teenagers.
