  1. I think I would rather stick with a scruffy hat than go with dreads. I suppose the problem in finding a face for Dave is that you want one that looks a bit chubby, but not overly so. I didn't realise Krytie was in black then! Carry on... For Arnold I was actually thinking of this old one from the 70s: But really you want a short "military" haircut, and certainly not anything that looks like Helen Shapiro.
  2. If only it were true that choosing to be not-spoiled was enough to prevent others from spoiling it for you.
  3. I personally like jedi & clones, and had no problem with them being heavily focussed on. I don't dislike the Rebels cast, I was just being cheeky. But I would have liked a bit more familiarity from pre-existing characters to create a more spin-off kind of effect, as this is the first time since the original movie that we didn't have already well-known characters from the get-go. It probably didn't bother many, but it disconnected me a bit, and made it harder work to watch.
  4. *tumbleweed* Been thinking about this show, I'm not into it that much yet, not as interested as I was TCW. But it's not bad. Considering the differences, this show has all the same main characters every episode. TCW had Ahsoka & Anakin one week, Obi-Wan & Dooku the next, Clones the next, R2, Mace, Grievous, Yoda, Ventress, Maul etc etc it seemed such a bigger and more interesting place. Rebels has EVERY episode: Mum, Dad, Uncle Not-Wookiee, Punk Chick, Not-Yet-Mature Brat, and a pet Bender's-Naughtier-Little-Cousin. Plus the two bad guys now and then. (I couldn't think of a tongue in cheek name for them!) But then I considered the Lego side of things. At least there's only so many minifigs! Not only are there not 50 million jedi to collect, but there also aren't 50 million varieties of clone to "army build", in addition to droids & other characters. The only minifig to hunt multiples of is the stormtrooper. Hello battle pack... Creators of Rebels, my wallet thanks you.
  5. .......................................so....................................what are you still doing in here & the other SW threads, now that it's all apparently Disneyfied and no good? Being a troll? ..........................or?
  6. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing the building experience with me, now I don't need to buy it... I think turning a stop-motion build into a brickfilm makes it even more enjoyable to watch. I appreciate your effort!
  7. But the word "basic" can have negative connotations. I noticed that the age range is 4-99. I haven't seen that on Lego before, I wonder if that is new and if so whether it will be introduced to other themes. It could reduce some of the stigma TFOLs & AFOLs can face.
  8. Oh and I forgot to mention that Kmart are advertising the City advent calendar for $40.
  9. Nice! Cat looks a bit too dark, perhaps that's just because of the lighting. Isn't there a similar but swirlier hair piece available? That one will do fairly well if not. Lister needs a happy-go-lucky face, and Rimmer should have the side parted "Lego hair" hairpiece, and probably a cranky or disgusted face. For Kryten, try dark grey torso & legs. I also think if Cat is in flesh colours that the others should be too. Where is Holly?
  10. Target 20% off Lego from Thursday 13/11.
  11. In addition to any other reason you can come up with, the train was too big for an Ideas set.
  12. Maybe the Midichlorians build an army and go on the rampage...
  13. It's set that far into the future?!? Wow. I hope to find out when I watch the movie and not too far in advance, so when do I stop reading this thread so as to avoid spoilers?
  14. Yeah, so looking at it again, it is very possible that the bags/packets only look like cardboard because of the non-fluid nature of digital images. Phew. But they look very consistent in their spacing, so I hope you can appreciate how I got that impression. I thought it was a photo. The red text says "Enter your code & WIN" with Lego Minifigures logo in the red box underneath. So I'm guessing that the grey stuff is related to that.
  15. I'm a fan of the Transformers toy & story concept, but not the movies. I dislike the superheroes concept, but some of the movies are decent. The recent SH ones have been fairly well-made at least. I enjoy science-fiction, fantasy & mystery. Stuff that isn't real or isn't known. But I want to have a plot, character development or discovery, and tests or trials (but I don't want an easy "out" like SH seem to always have). Tests/trials includes fight scenes or chases but I can be happy with mind games. Some unexpected events are good, but there seems to be too much reliance on "I'm actually the bad guy, I was only pretending to be a good guy!" these days. I don't know the Trope name. It tends to introduce many plot holes too. I don't need humour or romance, sometimes it's better without, but sometimes it suits well. Terrible movies can be fun to watch, for the "so bad it's good" factor. But sometimes they're so bad that they're just bad. Roll of the dice. The best situation is to watch with others and then crack jokes as you go. I went with some dudes, none of whom knew what to expect except for a 3 hour Nolan movie titled "Interstellar", not even the cast. So I was glad that it did eventually get to space... haha. Man, was it long though. Enjoyed it, but what's-her-name looked a bit like a rat-face. The "twist" if you want to call it that, yeah... maybe. He's done worse. The hospital & museum sequences though, not so sure we needed that plot direction. Reminded me of the boring & useless last 20-odd minutes of ROTK.
  16. Was the force asleep? Hasn't force usage already been "awakened" in the OT? Maybe "The Order Awakens" is better if we're referring to Jedi. If we're not, then I don't want to know what the heck is meant by the force waking up. I think the worst title is "The Empire Strikes Back". It's just dumb. "Attack Of The Clones" was unfitting for the movie, while a cool enigmatic title before its release. But I think that "The Phantom Menace" & "Return Of The Jedi" are the best titles.
  17. Everyone I've spoken to about it hasn't seen it or thought it was rather under-rated. I haven't come across anyone who thought it sucked. The critics and the week 1 box office have far too much say. John Carter was unfairly blasted too. But I get the joke.
  18. I'm so glad that you think as much, because I think you're right, but also right to use Ideas as an opportunity to see what kind of interest there is in something so huge that is done properly.
  19. Well I wasn't surprised when the birds were announced, and I'm happy with that. Not something I want, but it's nice. I'd buy it. I was definitely surprised when Big Bang passed, for reasons already brought up. I don't know why people find it funny, I don't. But then most American (and other) sitcoms use that formula of person A says something stupid followed by person B points out that it was stupid. (And that, apparently, is "a joke".) I will reserve judgement on the set until we see what bits it comes with. Not surprised that Doctor Who is still under review. Hope something good comes of it. Not surprised that the others failed. They either didn't look good or were too big to be viable. The next review period is probably going to be fruitless (they're all too big), but maybe Doctor Who isn't being rushed through so that it can be the passing project next time. (In addition to the whole BBC thing, and solving the 2 project problem.)
  20. They'd better not be cardboarded, I want to be able to feel up the bags. I won't be buying blind to get what I'm after, I'll guarantee that. I bet it would hike up the aftermarket prices for wanted minifigs. Also, the Disco Diva is on rollerskates, for whoever was asking. Looks like it to me.
  21. Spoilers again... you guys are terrible. I mean it, really.
  22. Not only was it an affordable set, it came with a horse, the (exciting) new GITD ghost, a grey bird, a shield and the new armour & helmet! A lot to love as a kid. Except the little hole behind the arch.
