  1. Kids are incredibly impressionable. I'm pretty sure that they only like 2 things: 1. what someone else has 2. what someone else says is cool (that also includes products with media & other advertisements) "I don't want peanut butter sandwiches for lunch any more. Timmy has honey on his!" Actually, you know what, adults are like that too, except they'll also sometimes dislike something for those same reasons.
  2. A lost ship of the desert would be a camel that doesn't know where it is!
  3. There aren't any overweight mini-dolls... or tall or short...
  4. It does a bit, but when someone has the set, takes a photo of all the decorated parts, and declares that there are no stickers (as per Ideas tradition) then I think it probably is not a sticker!
  5. "cruelty to real life animals" is a weird notion. Why not "cruelty to animals"? What non- real life animals are we (the Ideas submittor) allowed to be cruel to, and why? Dragons? Zombie sharks/dogs? Fictional instances of real world animals? (if the latter, then how is anything made from Lego "real life")
  6. Word is that she declined. TLG can't include her without her permission. That is the licencing issue.
  7. I think there may have been just the one detractor... from in this thread... The only real negative regarding Monster Fighters was the (non)availability of the zombies set in some instances. I don't recall previously encountering anyone that viewed the theme in a negative light.
  8. Was Wuher in the Freemaker Adventures?
  9. Surely there can't be a new cantina set already, I haven't had a new title since the rumours of the last one!
  10. Seems quite small. I bet the book is huge.
  11. It is a dated custom that the guy who isn't clean-shaven is the bad guy (or the badass good guy)
  12. In this day and age, if you live in mainland USA it seems that you can get anything online and state tax free with free postage at very competitive prices. Physical in-store availability doesn't really matter anymore. It pays to live away from the mega-metropolis! Living in a remote part of Australia there's no free postage, and most US sellers (where the competitive prices are) won't send here. If they do, it's very expensive postage. But it's still easier to have lots of room and spare funds for big collections than it is in the big cities.
  13. Not only do I find these SW Brykhedzsdsxt unappealing, and not just all the other themes too, but also those Funko vinyls. So much of the time they don't really look recognisable, as well as being ugly.
  14. Huh. I never figured M:Tron as a rescue operation. It always looked like mining and salvage to me. I'm not too keen on the old brown with the grey. Is that bluish grey? That may be my hang-up if so. Maybe if you want to use brown go with black or white as companion colours.
  15. I've seen those (3) movies now, so the Keaton one is really funny
  16. I would suggest trying people you know, either friends or members of a local LUG. If you are a bit like me and neither of those options are really possible... well you can donate it, or bulk sell it for cheap via the usual public channels. If that hurts too much, put it away until you can come back, properly sort and then satisfactorily move it on.
  17. Makov is funny, but Hincklev, is that some new kind of train technology?
  18. I played with Brio trains in kindergarten, and while most of it sat on the floor there were also bridges. The track wasn't too wide. Later on I had Micro-Machine trains, and used boxes to elevate the track, which had very compact width. I imagine that if the Space monorails had instead been standard train tracks, there wouldn't be as much interest in them, they're just like normal trains. (Trains are cool, but the monorail trains are cooler!) For me, the big attractions to Lego monorail are the much narrower track, and the multi-storey elevation. Real-life monorails that I've been on were all elevated on pylons, and you could almost look down right underneath the rail at the open ground. Most normal trains are on the ground floor or have a very solid bridge or tunnel that takes away the wow factor of its non-ground-floor-ness. (Standard) Lego trains are even more limited in that elevation isn't really practical - no real bridge or tunnel underground ability, and the track is really wide. Sure there is the strong link of "I wasn't there, I don't really care" lack-of-nostalgia factor with kids but the superior coolness of monorail over standard Lego track still remains!
  19. Unless it had a massive propellor? Wouldn't look very scifi. Same problem as the Friends rollercoaster.
  20. I don't think SDCC sets have exclusive parts, or at least not before. Yes you could BL the parts for the set, you just don't have the special packaging and original stickers. Someone with better memory and/or knowledge could confirm/deny this.
  21. "Great question!" he replied with deep sarcasm. Sets you want to see discussion here Minifigs you want to see discussion here Or sneakily reword it into a question of sorts
  22. Anyway... to me, Classic Space is easily defined. The stuff from before Futuron/Blacktron (old helmet, full torso logo, no faction name). It's a bit different from the Classic Castle label, that one is hard to pin down. Vintage Space is the one where the lines get moved around. Is it the first few years, the first decade, the first 2 decades... If we were to get a "back to basics" style Space theme, it would look nothing like the ones of old, builds have changed so remarkably since the last one. At least with the other 2 themes buildings are more the focus, and buildings are still very much parts-on-top-of-parts unlike the Lego spaceships of today. Much less studs involved nowadays. Haha. Well I think it was Legoland Town?
  23. Can anyone find Wally in this thread amongst the Harry Potter nerd lore?!? He's in here somewhere... Are there any parts with hair + hat that are even similar (forget being the right colours). It's a bobble hat he's wearing, extremely different from a bandana. Any beanie would be more accurate, but I don't know if there's a red one let alone a red&white striped one.
  24. Not sure, I think I may have bought something in the wrong grey. Have definitely received parts in the wrong colour or variation a few times, but I don't know if there were any where it was my fault (other than that grey slope I'm not sure about).
  25. Can't stop the feeling? Just dance, dance, dance
