The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Artanis I replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Man, it's a Spacey McSpacerocketface situation. The public decided... Too bad for actual Lego fans of science fiction & science non-fiction - the sort of people who think/dream about space all the time, not just as a 3 year old in a shopping mall revenue-raiser Next time maybe they will pick a "moments in space" set based on an adult sitting in a room with a full wallet dreaming about one day being able to buy a Space theme- 991 replies

To calculate a price: have a look on Bricklink at the average price each minifig sells for, for starters eg https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=njo339#T=P

LEGO in Film & TV: Index of Appearances

That was great. Man, those guys are still going - CNNNN feels like a really long time ago -
This sums up for me the reasons why most of the apparent "bones" that have been thrown (NK, Disney Castle, Minecraft, Harry Potter, Ninjago, CMF, individual parts in sets etc) are irrelevant. A similar story exists regarding Space. I'm a collector of a theme, not of various incompatible subthemes or sets. No bones for me = no money for TLG. That's not a protest, that's just how it is - I've bought bugger-all in the last year, yet still reading all these sites most days. Regarding "brand loyalty" and the suggestion that someone isn't really loyal to TLG if they only buy within a certain theme: you can be loyal to Ford without ever owning a van, truck, hatchback, ute, sedan, semi-trailer... and if they aren't releasing new wagons when your old one is on the way out, you may consider looking elsewhere or at used vehicles. Doesn't make you disloyal if your wants/needs aren't being met

Congratulations, here's a medal..? But seriously, considering Alien Conquest to not be "true Space" is far from daft - the only thing "Space" about the ADU faction is their suits. The subtheme is set on Earth, with normal civilians. The aliens in their spaceships would totally be a Space subtheme in their own right, but all things added together makes AC semi-Space. Associate but not core. Sci-Fi absolutely, and closer to Space than to anything else, but far enough from it to consider it either way. Plus, you would also have those that consider the "true Space" to only include sci-fi and not fantasy. (So all the alien subthemes wouldn't count for those people - UFO, Insectoids, Mars anything, SP3, AC, Galaxy Squad - oh wait that's everything since 1996 haha. Not much fun for those guys...)

Star Wars Episode 8, The Last Jedi discussion. **SPOILERS**
Artanis I replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I thought Disney always delayed the more popular titles to maximise the hype & anticipation and so that people will pay whatever the price ends up being extorted to (because they can't wait any longer) Maybe that was just the kids movies -
If that's the case then he has my permission to use that sort of thing as inspiration... just not the action-y type stuff he's done Of course all of that is moot if he's suggesting that either A) true Castle is not happening soon or B) true Castle AND Space are both happening soon, haha
-
Not meaning to be rude, but I hope he never does another Castle theme. Space, I am fine with, I kinda liked his Space themes but not his so-called "Castle" (NK) theme nor do I want to see anything from those or his other work (eg Chima etc) inspire a Castle theme. If someone is going to do a Castle theme I would want someone else to do it
-
It could be that TLG are (or at some point were) not allowed by Lucasfilm to release a coinciding Space theme, or perhaps rather that they choose not to... in order to avoid having too much that's too similar at once. Especially now when there are also so many Nexo/Ninjago/DC/Marvel space ships

I was exaggerating (when I said mod, rant, tldr), and I'm sure it was useful to others - just wasted on me like preaching to the choir that's all -

So I saw that the Ideas team highlighted an "under 100 supporters" project that looked remarkably similar (could've even been the exact same re-submission) to the Addam's Family mansion (you know, the upsized mod of the official set Haunted House) - didn't that project fail review? I thought that function was for promoting stuff not seen before. What am I missing? -

The Clone Wars? Man, Rebels is well and truly dead -
If we ever got Return Of The King (Gondor) sets then those troll siege weapons aren't very far off from what the official sets would've ended up as. I like the tower, even though it is undersized and the wheels are enormous in scale. And the colours are perfect.

Probably Pharaoh's Quest

Okay, I won't feel more let down than what I'm already accustomed to

Not getting my hopes up. If it happens and happens well, then it happens. But if it sucks or it doesn't happen I won't feel let down

Seatron had Futuron torsos if that wasn't enough clue to its vintage. It was developed before and obviously evolved into M:Tron & Aquazone- 991 replies
