The old good news/bad news. I'm glad they haven't ruled the female mini fig series out. I really hope they do it. Sherlock would be fun if they get the rights, but I'm curious what they would do with them. Just the figures? or 221B?

I would start by checking with FedEx. Very occasionally they've misdelivered to a neighbor, or mark it as delivered before it actually is.

^My guess is that they didn't work New Years Day, so they'll probably process it today or monday and get it out to you next week.

I love the way you both captured these vehicles, and the way that they have a (modernized/6wide) early 1990s/late 1980s feel to the builds. Well done.

A simple and cute idea executed flawlessly, and I love the way that you mixed minifigs & minidolls so effectively.

I assume, as no one else has said anything lately, that the VIP early sale day is not going to happen? Disappointing, but my wallet thanks you.

I would like to join, if you're still taking people. Right now all I have is a point & shoot camera, but have been considering upgrading and would welcome advice.

Paid Membership with perks? Any interest?
Dhivael replied to Siegfried's topic in Forum Information and Help
I like the idea of creating a "donate" type system, and reserve judgement on a premium membership until you see how much that would raise. Given the number of users here even a handful donating yearly might significantly help. As for a premium membership I agree about having a choice to give yearly or monthly, and keeping it to under ~$5USD/month. I don't mind contributing, but I'd really like to see the functionality of the site remain even for those who are unable or unwilling to pay. I know that EB was one of the ways that I got drawn back into being an AFOL, and restricting membership would have hurt me, and I'm sure countless others who use it as a way to break into the community. -
MEA seems to be selling very healthily. It's been out of stock more than In-stock at amazon, and OOS at TRU. I keep hoping that I can get on the S@H page to pick it up, but I keep encountering a 500 Server Error :(

It's $5 for every 100 points. You earn 1 point for every dollar you spend. So $25 is right, sorry.

There's an old saying... 'vote with your dollars.' TLG keeps doing police themes because they sell. And maybe we AFOLs are tired of them, but they don't pick these sets for us. They make them for kids. And 1 police/fire theme every 2 years keeps it fresh when a new generation of kids are starting to be brought into Lego. And parents and children will keep buying Police themed stuff, even if AFOLs refuse. So, I think it's pretty clear City is alive and well, unlike things like Pirates, or even castle which keeps getting put on hiatus and brought back. I'll probably pass on most of these as I'm trying to downsize, and prefer things like the Creator Expert line (Modulars, Horizon Express, 3:1 houses etc) that invoke memories of more complex 80s & early 90s sets.

^ That exchange made me laugh. I think this could be good news. I keep hoping that they'll bring back a mini fig scale theme. Friends has been pretty successful, so maybe they see that there is demand for this. Going back to the 80s & 90s, the sets that were put in the "girls" themes (Paradisa, etc) I felt were more of what AFOLs are looking for. Good sets, new colors, and generally more of the day-to-day citizen life that the City theme has lacked. So shorter version: I'm interested to see what TLG has in store for us.

What about something like the military-industrial complex? I know you (ACPin) have done droid factories before, but there's plenty of material for similar things: mon cal shipyards, KDY, SFS just to name a couple that first come to mind.

A pity you didn't get them in on time, great builds and I think that's an intriguing use of the chain in the second one.

I think it's a great idea. One I may use myself once I get my layout past the design phase again. Forgive what might be a dumb question, but you just bought the stuff at the local hobby/train shop?

It's one of the best sets I've ever purchased, although I got it on sale. Absolutely worth the price tag though-- many parts, interesting build, and great selection of minifigs. I'm sure you won't regret it. Good luck in your decision.

^ you can probably use filters or Lego trans- tiles/plates as filters for an LED.
