I plan to buy this set second hand myself...but i will swap out as many of the parts for new ones as possible. So i can have a near 95% brand new set, I have been slowly collecting all the parts in brand new condition over the last several months. But i still need to buy one complete set second hand as the really rare/unique parts can only be obtained by buying a second hand set. ^ the B model is awesome!...you should deffo build that and post a review of it!

Sometimes TLG refresh or create a brand new mold when the old one wears out, or they make revisions to the design of a part. A recent example is part #2444....it got a mold revision and new part # 10247

meh....i have never liked any of the B model bikes, they are all the same design/model....a chopper. And often the bikes B dosent have enough parts from the A build to make the B look finished.

^ well considering this is reverse engineered by simply looking at pics/video its a very impressive replica. It looks pretty accurate to me!

I guess the only way TLG could really release a cement mixer is to create a large mould, maybe in two or four sections that you pin together to make it circular. but it would be such a single purpose thing it might not be worth the cost of the mould.

[TC6] Fire truck
Richard Dower replied to super-jaschka's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
^ you have my vote!....i never see any fire or rescue vehicles, this is excellent and it looks like a set TLG would actually release....minus the PF driving. I could easily see this as a €100 set for sale and you can by the PF set to motorsise the rear functions. One thing...i think you should add a fire hose to the area where the fireman would stand...there are several City fire trucks that should give you an idea of what is needed. How does this scale to 8289?...using those rare 1x7 thin liftarms!- 22 replies

Studless 8275
Richard Dower replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I guess...but the set does use a fair amount of flat tiles to cover certain areas....i was just considering expanding on that. -
As you can see 8275 has alot of exposed studs, since this set uses alot of studded beams and non Technic parts. I am very close to gathering al the parts i need to build this, but i am not a fan of the exposed studs and was thinking about buying lots of yellow flat tiles in differnet sizes to cover up these studs. What do you think?

Recently i bought part #553b in Pearl Light Gray...its a legit Lego part. But its not listed on Bricklink as a known colour, but is listed in lots for sale? How and why do known vs. lots for sale differ?....does known colours mean parts that are actually in production? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=553b

42040 Fire Plane
Richard Dower replied to timtimgo87's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Woah!...part #2695 has not been seen in White since 1999!! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2695&colorID=1&in=A Yes....either flat or metallic silver, there have been a number of sets from 2015 using them. It looks LBG...it matches the other parts surrounding it. -
Very rare, but....you can buy second hands sets somewhat cheaply if you really need them. The most obvious choice is 8141 which has 2 of them. They mostly appeared in Racers sets. I have seen them for sale brand new at €7.50 for just one!! That must be why #42034 in DBG is soo rare! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32034&colorID=85&in=A I bought 8649 and got 3 of them :-)

1H2015 Video Reviews
Richard Dower replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
JANG now has the 8041, er.....42041 review up and he will do the awesome B model. I had been collecting the parts to build the original 8041 A and B...but then bloody TLG re-released the set. It cost me alot more to buy in the parts then it would to just buy two copies of 42041.....just my luck! ^ i still think the A model is way too opwn and unfinished, it needs alot of extra panels to fill in those huge gaps! But the B model is near perfection, it feels more finished, it looks like a set that only needed 608 parts to build it, whereas the A needs like 20 parts...mostly panels. I think the B should have been the main model imo. -
One thing of note....i dont like the LBG #3713 bushes.....imo these would look better in White. As luck would have it i have about 100 of them brand new!, and also the 4265c 1/2 bush in White...yay me!
