well the colour scheme certainly matches the new bright green parts/panels from the 24 hour race car. TLG dont just introduce new colors/parts willy nilly without having a bigger plan for these colors down the line, to be used in other sets etc.

So i have this 2004 set waiting to be built, but those Bionicle Katana weapon blades for propellers are HORRIBLE! I guess in 2004 that was the only type of part available to imitate a propeller blade.....but are there any better alternatives now? I was looking at this part as a possible alternative and its in Flat Silver....but its 16L...too big? http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=98135 What length is that Bionicle Katana part?

another review....but this is a brand new one: also the lego shop in the UK in Ireland now have all the 1H 2015 sets available to buy! -
ok...but why not emergency service vehicles?.....they've done it before....8289 etc., but we have not seen such a vehicle in many years now? no voilence attached to them, not directly....they save lives etc. i just dont get why they dont do them?....they range of functions you could add to them is great for kids!

Ha!...8434 is the *only* Technuc set to have #3648 in Red: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3648&colorID=5&in=A It has other unique parts/colours as well....i got it for €70! I recently got part # 3647 in black and white. While these colours variation might not be nesscary per se, if you are looking to mod or have a model look a certain way with certain colours then its nice to have these parts.

I have started collecting Technic parts in rare colours....there are quite a few unique colours available, these mostly stem from non Technic sets such as Bionicle or Racers sets....but they are still Techic pieces. I recently bought 8434 BNIB and i LOVE Pearl Dark Grey!.....so i am gonna try get every part ever made in that colour :-)

didnt someone here say Uwe took time off before he finished the model and some post grad guy took over?....Uwe did design the amazing pre release image model that looked SOO much better then the final product! That back end needs a 5x11 green panel though to fill that huge hole!....i know its supposed to be a window.....but i would have put a 5x11 panel where the 3x11 panels sits now. And then have the 3-5L area on top as the window area. There is only one seat so that area could be used for power fuctions. This b model is superb and easily the reason to buy this set!

I personally think 8071 gets a bad rap!...for the part count its functions are pretty decent and the use of primary white colour is effectve. Not sure why this set is hated?....but i suspect its the colour, one thing i will say isthe set is rather small for the piece count. -
^ or...TLG could do what they did with the Racers sets. Use that line to release branded sets like all the Ferrari models they released. These are essentially Technic sets just under the Lego Racers brand.

Not a specific model per se....i just want to find *some* car model to use these parts in. I cant get all the parts one would need in Flat Silver or Metallic Silver....so the closest colour available to the Flat Silver panels in the LBG ones from the drop ship. I think both colour types will work well together in car fomat. If anyone has any ideas for a car please let me know!

The level of detail on this model is truely astonishing...the Chrome parts alone must have cost a fortune! I assume he sent parts to get Chromed?.....it looks like a real model, just incredible level of work! I would be afraid to try and part this out to build it........!

WOO HOO!...i *finally* bought the new Flat Silver panels from that Guardians Of The Galaxy set! I got all 6 panel tyoes for €6 brand new! :-) http://www.bricklink...v.asp?S=76021-1 I also have the Light Bluish Gray panels from the 7160 Drop Ship: http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=7160-1 I am thinking about trying to build a car using LBG and Flat Silver panels....and to make the other elements LBG in colurs. Its sort of an attempt at making a Silver-ish looking car...as much as possible. I also bought ten of the new 1x11 Flat Silver liftarms....they should look nice in a model.

Technic General Discussion
Richard Dower replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
^ you are correct, there are a few versions of this set. Some came with all 10 wheel hubs in Metallic Silver while others only had 6. Eventaully when they ran out of stock they changed the hubs to LBG. Same scenario with the other Metallic Elements, some sets had 8 of part #75535 in Metallic Silver while later sets changed to LBG. TLG only produced a certain amount of Metallic Silver parts, as they ran out of each part they changed the respective part # to Light Bluish Gray -
The Yellow 1x16 parts are very rare now and hard to find brand new. I am building Technic 8275 from brand new parts. It was VERY hard to find new 1x16 bricks in Yellow....but managed to get 7 eventually. I agree with the OP...these bricks are increasingly rare and becoming more expensive! Agreed....often times rare parts/colours dont show up in Technic sets but they do appear often in other lego sets. Which is why its important to review and look over the part lists for other sets Lego release each year. I woudlnt have discovered those new Flat Silver panels had i not looed at other non Technic sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=76021-1 LOL!....amazing how sought after these connectors are!....there are 8141 sets available on Ebay, they have 2 of these Red #3 + other cool parts.

Technic General Discussion
Richard Dower replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Absolutely SUPERB model!....easily in the top 5 Technic sets imo. Huge level of detail....the model is MASSIVE and quite heavy. It uses pnumatics + gears for its functions....most of which are neatly hidden away inside two of gour very nice looking and large panels. Lots of rare/unique Silver Metallic elements....really fun to play with and the B model is just as good! Its still in very high demand and new sets costs a fortune!....€400+ The Metallic Silver stuff is constantly sought after and command high prices. So if you get a set at a good price grab it!.....i'll byt the Metallic Silver parts from you :-) -
42030 - To Get or Not to Get
Richard Dower replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The letdown is the single purpose bucket, you can only use it with this model unless you build a new MOC or heavily mod 8265 or the B model for 8043. It just seems like a huge waste to have a spare bucket collecting dust with no real purpose.....sell it i guess? -
If they do make a flagship i want the part count to be in the 1800-2000 part range, lots of detail...no gaps or sections that look half done. 8285 was superb because it had a high level of detail and nice use of three primary colours: Black, Red and Metallic Silver. The colours and how they were placed worked, trying to do a flagship with 1200 parts and just piling on panels is NOT a flagship make.

42030 - To Get or Not to Get
Richard Dower replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I personally havent bought 42030 as yet...but i do pan to. I will buy two sets as i want to build the A and B model. Function wise it may not do anymore then say 8275 or 8043....it is almost identical to 8265 but its nice to have a new fully motorized set. I agree it dosent have any wow factor besides being big, its overly expensive, perhaps it might just be worth it as a parts pack? -
I think its an American truck thing. 8285 is an American tow truck and these trucks tend to be customised by their owners and blinged out. I generally dont like stickers at all....in fact, i never apply stickers to any of the models i have....manly so as i can re-use parts if i decide to take models apart to build something else.
