  1. I wish i had a camera!...as i would love to show you guys this model + what pimping/mods i made to the set. There are several Racers sets that are considered Technic sets...as they are built from (mostly) entirely Technic parts, and they look like Technic sets. There are several very rare a unique formula 1 cars and also some Ferrari and McClaren and Mercedes sets in the Racers line. From 2005-07 TLG released 3 sets under the Nitro brand: Nitro Menace 8649, Nitro Muscle 8146 and the set i am reviewing today, the Nitro Intimidator 8682. It has 724 parts, but after modding and pimping it came in just under 800 parts. It took me about 4 hours which is longer then i expected, but i was reviewing the set as i went along to see where i would add pieces. I really like the model and i very much enjoyed building it, moreso then 8434 i got recently, Its a fun looking vehicle...thought its functions are very basic for this set. HOG steering, opening front bonnet....the backend can be pulled down to reveal a CRAZY setup...its like a gaming system built into the back of the car.....LOL! A huge viewscreen, 4:9?...wtf?....i guess 16:9 was not standard yet in 2006 :-) It even has "gamepads".....and a big speaker system, this thing has 8 huge speakers!....its a crazy genre mashup, its also interesting in that the set uses alot of conventional lego pieces, i havent seen this much standard Lego used since 8275. The front end is superb, no Technic parts...just bricks. I didnt like like the exposed black studs on the front so i added 1x2 Black grill pieces which really makes the front end stand out. You should check out the part list as it uses some rare parts incl 16L and 19L red flexible hoses....plus one of the infamous and ever elusive Red #3 Technic connector!! http://www.bricklink...nv.asp?S=8682-1 I applied the same process i have done with all my other sets, it is too expensive to buy new in box, so i bought it second hand for €40. The rare/unique/hard to find parts i kept and cleaned up. Everything else i bought brand new parts...so its basically a 95% brand new set, the manual was mint and i dont really care about boxes. I have a thing about second hand sets, i hate them...i always try buy brand new where possible, if the price is good...for 8682 there were sets being sold at €120+. Too much being asked, so the compromise is to get a cheap second hand set..take out the rare parts and dump the rest, the buy the remianing parts brand new. This set might not be to everyones taste, you may not like how it looks...but it is an excellent parts pack and it now takes pride of place on my Technic shelf. :-) 3.5/5 There are some pretty cool MOCs of this set out there as well, i like this one:
  2. I found a better more approiate part for the air scoop: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=30602&colorID=5&in=A Just turn it around, it the perfect size and shape for the vehicle you are build, you can get it in red.
  3. I perdonally think the Mindstorms solution is the best, as it uses genuine lego parts to solve them problem. I have several tracked vehicles and they all suffer the same fate....you cant roll them for crap! unless you have a surface like sand paper nothing will move the bloody tracks!
  4. Hmmm...i dont think i did it right, did i? Its scalping....madness to expect $1200, as stated you can buy almost all of the parts brand new and build it yourself! That is what i did, i bought a second hand set because i wanted the rare Metallic Silver parts. I kept those and cleaned them up. Then i bought all the other parts brand new, i bought the manuals for 8285 on Ebay for €18and they were in mint condition! So i got a brand spnaky new 8285 for a fraction of the cost being asked on Ebay. I did they same with 8275, the only really expensive parts were the yellow wheels, which i bought brand new for €5 each and those ultra rare cylinder bracket #53178. I paid €40 for 4 of them on Ebay, It was €9.50 per part....not bad considering i see them going for €20 or more. Even the rare part #32529 in yellow i bougt for €1 each!....great bargain. Once again with 8275 once i secured the rare/hard to find parts i then bought everything else brand new. I haven't built 8275 as yet as i still have to get the power functions elements. But overall i can now build 8275 from brand new (95% brand new) parts....to hell with these crazy BNIB prices being asked! 8288 is a good exmaple of price inflation....some INSANE new prices being asked, but i dont see too many second hand sets being offered for sale either?. You could part it out, but it has unique parts such as those 500mm strings that are ultra rare and you can build the set without them...frustrating! These prices are why i have taken to in the last year of buying in big lots of new parts, and if i spot rare/quique parts i buy them...for a rainy day. Eventually i will collect enought parts to build all the old/rare/expensive Technic sets...and they will be build from new parts :-)
  5. Spotted another new coloured part available for 2014, Part # 10288 is now available in Black: http://www.bricklink...colorID=11&in=A Part # 13971 is now available in Red: http://www.bricklink...&colorID=5&in=A
  6. Amazing!...why did you not use official Lego flexible hoses?...availability?...i now there are 19L Yellow hoses...maybe you could not get the parts or in the right length? Everything else looks superb and outstanding level of detail....the Yellow raelly works and stands out. I think Red and Black Lambo's are way too common.
  7. Just spotted another part in a colour i had not seen before, though this part has been out since 2012...i only came across it yesterday. Part #87082 is now available in Red: http://www.bricklink...&colorID=5&in=A + a 1x11 liftarm in Tan colour: http://www.bricklink...&colorID=2&in=A Part #41530 is now available in Flat Silver: http://www.bricklink...colorID=95&in=A The Flat Silver part #78c02 is now back in production as well, it has been used in several old Technic sets such as 8466: http://www.bricklink...colorID=95&in=A The White panels used in Technic 8262 from 2009 are also now back in production for 2014: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=61071&colorID=1&in=A This part also looks interesting: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=18587
  8. Yet another review from JANG, this time for 42037...since the instructions come in the box he will also review the B model in a few days. There are also review in Russian for 32038 B model: 42039 - fully motorised!! + another review of 42039:
  9. so will it have 12 tyres then?....4x2 dual rear and 4 sets of single tyres for the mid and front axle?
  10. JANG now has a review of the B model of 42035 up, i wasn't too impressed by the images...but after seeing this vid its actually a realy nice B model that has functions and uses a good portion of the A models parts. So i think i will get 2 sets :-)
  11. Another (new) speed build + review of 42032: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AodAaoNbotE I think we have seen most of the B model stuff now?....
  12. That BB guy has stolen loads of videos from JANGBRICKS....someone should give him a heads up!
  13. JANG now has the B model for 42038 up:
  14. To hold 7mm ribbed tubes in place, and to be able to route cables etc. 9mm would be fine.
  15. there seems to be room for modding and adding RC in 42039...with some modding/adjustments....i am sure guys are working on that now :-)
  16. agree on 8070....it has alot of the parts you'd need for a supercar MOC....lots of suspension parts, flexible hoses, etc.
  17. how about adding yellow flat tiles to the sides of the dumper bed?....you have already added them to the front....i think it will look really good. maybe use i 1x6 + 1x3 yellow flat tiles. also add 2 yellow 1/2 bushes to the DBG axles on the wheels.
  18. Efferman...thanks for doing that 4L pin. I was wondering if you could design a pin/connector to hold a 7mm ribbed hose? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=522 Looking for a pin like this: But with a cut out in the round pinhole are...so as you could push in a 7mm hose and basically the pin connector is being used to hold 7mm hoses in place and as a cable guide. I guess the area where the hose will fit would have to be 8mm or something? This pic will give you an idea of what i am thinking about:
  19. Another excellent review from JANGBRICKS, this time for 42038...he says he will do all the B models when he gets a chance. I am not a fan of non Technic sets, but after watching all his video reviews of the 2014 City Arctic sets i loved the look of them!....so i think i will collect the Artic sets.
  20. Agree on the B of 9393...the fake engine and how the pistons work/move is superb! I was very impressed by the building technique + how it used nearly all of the A model parts.
  21. Part #15100 is rather interesting and can have numerous uses, i was thinking it could be used to route pnumatic hoses?....like a cable tie/guide etc.? Would a 4mm pnumatic hose fit through the pin hole?, would other types of flexible hoses or pastic tubes fit through the hole?
