  1. I bought part #32557 in some rare colours such as white, blue, yellow and DBG.
  2. Can anyone help me with a design for a simple front winch for the 8289 fire truck?....i have the B model built and now want to start on the A....but i tink i needs a front winch, dont fire trucjs have them as standard?
  3. another top notch review Sariel....looking forward to the B model of 42040.
  4. indeed....which is why i have been just buying in parts, as i too am more interested in building old sets. i recently built the A and B of 8067...both are superb, but i think the B model just slighly wins out. Almost all the parts collected no to build 8273. I have all the parts for 8043 and plan to build A and B. I bought 8289 BNIB some time ago, but decided to just build the superb B model...as such i have been collecting parts to build the A. I deffo want to focus on the old sets that you cant buy anymore before buiding or buying the new stuff.
  5. this set has a couple of new technic elements in new colours, as in pearl gold: http://brickset.com/sets/41077-1/Aira-s-Pegasus-Sleigh
  6. it will be interesting to see what you guys come up with, for alternate uses of the new parts :-)
  7. i was wondering why they used dark blue....but the flag does not come in standard blue....so they used the closest possible colour. though you can get the part in trans dark blue....not sure how it would look though........
  8. cheers for the instructions!....i was even more impressed by the lack of spare parts!...amazing you only had a small parts left over. pretty sure those two 1x3 liftarms could be squeezed in there somewhere :-) if you had more parts to use...how would you have made the set?...like if you had two sets of 42039 would you have added more parts or done things differently?
  9. Cool!....they remind me of those concept Lego Racers sets that were put out during the 2000's......
  10. that is one sexy looking model!....loving the use of the yellow guard rails...you wonder why this part is not used more in Tehnic sets? It seems like an ideal part that should have been used in 42030 for example. i see the rear wheels are pendular...would it be possible to make it like the rear wheels on 8273?
  11. Would you buy a Technic set that did not feature any functions?....as in a set built with Technic parts that was more of an accurate replica of a truck or car etc.? Or do you consider Technic by its very definition the use of functions?
  12. i never said that, i pointed to valid decisions made by the designers that are imo a negative toward the set, others have pointed out the same issue and picked up on others. this happens with every technic release...people see ways to improve things, ergo MOCS....people question why the designers made this or that decision. people dont suggest i am being overly negative just for the sake of it....not true, its an excellent set in many regards an has a few negatives.
  13. ir uses alot of 1x15 in blue....more then 20 i would say, it uses 1x11, 1x7 in blue also....pretty sure you could make it in yellow easy enough.
  14. i think people have noted/pointed that the new outrigger parts seem very single purpose....i dont think we will be seeing these new elements in multiple sets over the coming years. i think the only part that could be used in other themes outside of techic are the new bucket scoops....sure city sets will use them. the new outrigger elements are just too specialised to be used outside of techinc, and even then only for sets that feature extendable booms or outriggers.
  15. when you do the crane....can you note how long the strings are?...are they a new length, or are they the same as 42009 etc. based on the build video from Brick Builder i belive only the the blue curved panels are new, the revised design they started using a couple of years back...and possibly the strinf is a longer length then before....same thickness as 42009. i saw nothing parts wise we havent seen before.
  16. after watching this vid i was really hoping would would see some 1x13 beams in blue...as they are very rare and hard to come by now, especially brand new. sucks....but the strings look super long!...i wonder if they are a brand new length?...or reusing the string from 42009? cracking set!....a must buy.
  17. so basically reverse the springs assigment? i dont understand why it was not possible to have both outriggers in line?....why are they a couple of studs distant from each other?....42009 had the outriggers in line. THIS!.....quoted for truth, it would have been a 10/10 set had the outriigers been powered AND in line like 42009....they go and design new parts specifically for the outriggers but cant even make the line up?
  18. Brick Builder is an excellent Lego channel....i watch all the review/builds, as you can see if any of the new sets have any new parts on new colours etc. It is also nice to see how each Lego set is made, and despite being speed builds they are slow enough the see the parts and the assembly. Excellent review as always Sarieal...many thanks, i really like the look of this model...for the part count it looks pretty big with a decent array of functions. Will you be putting up a review of the B model?....since you have the instructions for it?
  19. yup...deffo getting this before the merc, i just love the design and colour scheme...its a bigger and better 8043
  20. I see you have not built 42008....i highly recomend it!, it's such a well thought out design, epecially when you consider how compact the set is, for over 1300 parts the size of the tow truck is rather small....but therein lies the genius of the build. The pneumatic functions, how the tubes are routed and positioned is a work of art imo, it packs in tons of functions into a very compact model.
  21. I am a bit meh! on this set myself....consider that well over 1000 parts are pins!, it uses the most #2780 parts in Technic history!.....451. It is a MASSIVE parts pack for sure, but very few new parts and even a smaller number of parts in new colours. Its as if 8258 and 42008 had a baby, personally i am WAY more excited for the amazing blue crane.
  22. Well time to chime in....i have held my tongue long enough, i have tried to be respectful and not start flame wars, but i personally have been targeted by certain members here for what THEY deem to be usless topics. Personally i find certain members downright rude...every topic is legit imo, despite clutter and regular poster annoyance.
