Built this set a few days ago....but i have found that while using one function, such as turning the turntable would effect the other function....raising and lowering the boom. is this a design flaw?....or did i built the parts too tight and turning one function is affecting the other? In this vid you can see when he is raising the boom the turntable moves a bit....but mine is much worse.

WOO HOO!....got a part haul from Ebay this morning, it was all soft flex hoses....super cheap haul, i got loads of 7L/11L and the rare 14L and 16L hoses in Red. Add to this i got two of the ultra rare Black 19L flex hoses only ever released in one set back in 2000: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32235&colorID=11&in=A

i have thought about the seats, i was thinking about going for Blue also as Technic sets generallu have blue seats. But i went for white instead....i think white will look much better then light gray or blue.....it'll go nicely with the flat silver soft hoses u can get everything in LBG and DBG except for the seats....i will retain the trans clear engine pieces, wheels, panels and the really uinque parts. black and be swapped out for new parts easy enough, anything that cant be replaced brand new will get washed and polished up

Your Best Technic Bargains
Richard Dower replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think i mentioned already that i got 8434 BNIB for 40 Euro......... -
LOL!....ha, ooh man...see it thought i was a big deal, as i have serveral thousands parts..... i would consider it an investment, if someone buy the entire lot at a good price....and they have the time to sort through everything and start listing parts on BL, over time they could recoup there investment and eventually make a profit...over time. the red #3 alone are like 7 Euro a pop!

Tomorrow i **finally** buy this set, it has always been on my must have list....i got a great deal as it has an unused sticker sheet, manuals in mint condition and the original box in good condition. The seller is a Technic fan and has kept his sets in top condition etc. My problem is...i do not like the old Light Gray and Dark Gray colour! IMO the colours look dirty, plus its alot hard to find those older parts in brand new condition. As such i was thinking about swapping out LG and DG for DBG and LBG....but is this cheating or radically altering the model? There is very little colour difference in LG - LBG....but the old Dark Gray looks alot different colour wise to the modern DBG. Thoughts?

i agree that the steering mechanism is awful!.....it simply does not work, there is too much friction/resistance from the design to move the wheels. also....for such a high part count, higher then 8265.....i thought the set was very small, had little real functions. i bought the power functions pack to motoeize it but the model looked awful after the fact so reveresed course. i bought mine BNIB and paid 160 Euro as i thought it was a must gave flagship....it was not. the only real rare elements are the yellow panels and that bionicle linear actuator holder that is ultra rare....overall a very average set. i agree 8289 is a terrific model, the only fire engine i can remember off hand, well built...not many functions but it looks superb as a finished model, the B model is excellent also. As for 8274...also very interesting and unique. the only combine harvester that i know of....the B model is utter crap though and alot of parts are left over.

i parted mone out, i bought all the parts brand new....the only thing i have left to buy are the motors. i agree a new set, even used sets, are too expensive....that is why i thin its more feasible to buy in the parts and do it that way. i agree with others...if you are willing to take a hit on the price of the rare parts they will sell...people love a bargain and they find the money. as for the complete sets....again it will all come down to price. you will probably sell everything quickly if you are willing to take a major hit on price and not seek to get BL prices.

Lego Seats
Richard Dower replied to 88high's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Technic seat design is an area that most models fail, they all pretty much look the same and have standard construction ideas, and nearly always boring Blue. I think TLG need to step up and create more fancy seats! -
