Efferman's Custom Parts
Richard Dower replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i like that engine block design...but i think it needs somethin more....like cutouts in the side like the techinc engine block has. have 2 lines on the first and last block and then 3 lines on the others. it would add an extra design element to that custom part. -

you can find those parts easy enough....32068 and 32069 are quite common, i use a german ebay seller who always has stock of them. i bought a load of them as both parts are used in older sets, such as 8454 and the Racers sets. -

i would like to see a fresh supply of the Technic bricks in yellow in 1x12, 1x14 and 1x16....you can get them second hand but sourcing brand new parts at a reasonable price can be very tricky. i have seen 1x16 bricks as high as 4 Euto each!..... -

if anyone needs help with parts finding for 8285 just let me know, i put alot of effort into sourcing the parts when i built my copy. i use ebay but i have several store sellers that i am tight with who get me parts etc. another thing, i also bought the original manuals for the A and B model....it was an ebay bid, i got all 6 manuls posted for 20 Euro :-) i also got brand new manuals for 8043 and 8275. -
the jet b model is great...but...i think i will use the propellar blades from 42020 on it instead of those small white panels. i built the A of both of these first....then built the B as it was a better looking model and build experience....it was around 300 parts used. i kept the B model build on my self......

that colour is yellow or bright light orange....not pure orange. the plane is superb!...if it is 9.99 then it is an amazing deal!.....11 panels! it looks great, the stickers are excellent, those new 7L flex hoses in black, some sort of axels in yellow...or bright light orange like the Wall E 3L axle.....

43898 is a common part now, several sets from recent years have them: http://www.bricklink...colorID=67&in=A 4073 is very easy to get...loads of them on Bricklink and Ebay in Metallic Silver, same with 2412b: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4073&colorID=67&in=A as an alternative to the eight rare 75535 parts you could use the more recent 62462 in Metallic Silver: http://www.bricklink...colorID=67&in=A the handle bar i got from 8642...they pop up on ebay all the time: http://alpha.brickli...8642-1#T=S&O={} the metallic silver wheel hubs....there are quite a few avialble via Bricklink and ebay, save a search as they routinely pop up. the hardest part is the 3960 4x4 radar dishes....crazy expensive, as such you might have to go with LBG. here is what i did.....i bought a second hand set cheap off a local buy and sell, the guy had no clue about its value. i dumped pretty much everything save for the pnrumatic stuff and metallic silver parts, the parts i dumped i sold as a lot so got some money back. i cleaned everything, then i bought as many of the parts brand new as i could find....95% of parts are very common and widely used today....there is just alot of them. for example i has to get 28 Red and 32 Black 1x15's! -

8285 was and still is my holy grail...took me several months but i gathered all the prts save for a small handful in brand new condition. it is a stunning set, the best set ever released imo....the build experience is amazing. i do recomend you try get the metallic silver version, alot of those parts can now be found in brand new condition save for the 4x4 radar dishes and the 75535 parts...all the other metallic silver stuff can be found brand new condition and cheaply. you always see sets second hand pop up on ebay, it seems to be a very common set....i guess it sold a ton of copies during its sales period. -
Argos Ireland has several Technic sets at discounted prices, but do check stock availability from your nearest store: http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10152&catalogId=14551&langId=111&searchTerms=technic&authToken=%252d1002%252c8RvTgzRQUIkiaCQg1wd0wg264Io%253d

Agree!....people a VERY aware now of profit and resale value in 5-6 years time etc. But....ALOT of people are doing it, which means there is alot more stock available. Back in say 2007 when 8275 came out not many had the foresight to see Lego become as valuable as gold in years to come, As such there isint as many BNIB sets available as there are for more current sets. So folks may get saddled with sets they cant sell.....i also do not buy Lego as an investment, i dispise the practice! Price gouging, taking advantage of people etc. On sunday i watched an ebay auction for a UCS 10179 Falcon...dozens of bidders, price constantly shooting up! The bidding ended at 3,600 Euro.....madness! Really good sets this year as well...especially the small ones and pullbacks. some sets have some excellent parts, brand new parts etc.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Richard Dower replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Buying a new or second hnad set is out of the question...so its buying as many parts brand new where possible, and buying everything else in used condition. if one was not obessed with having the original mold designs, or not too bothered about special printed pieces...is it possible to build 10179? as in can you find all the parts?.... what are the rare/qunique parts only found in the set?...are there newer sets that have new mold designs that could be used as alternate parts etc? overall i just want to know if its possible to buy and build it in 2015? -
I have had my eye on 7632 for some time, because it looks awesome + imo it could easily pass for a Technic sets, so i picked put a few sets from City that i think could be very cool to build a collect, i am in the process of collecting the parts to build 7632 as i think it looks the coolest....what do you think? 7249: http://brickset.com/...XL-Mobile-Crane 7344: http://brickset.com/...44-1/Dump-Truck 7632: http://brickset.com/...1/Crawler-Crane 7685: http://brickset.com/sets/7685-1/Dozer
