It was mostly done for the 10 year old, so he could better count the bricks, and could scratch off which he had already done (the bead art was only a small internet picture, not physical present).

On average, about 3 hours each not counting the drawing on paper or the searching for bricks

Mosaics... pixels... I just love the combination to build those things. And what better sources are there for inspiration then crochet patterns or beads art? So when I came along this one, the kid wanted to build the Lord Voldemort together with my help. I said okay, and I`ll provide the baseplate and bricks, while I would build the Harry part of the duo. I started by drawing out the patterns on regular squares paper, so he could "count" the elements needed, then we proceeded building the mosaic with bricks for the build itself, and tiles for filling the background up. Work in progress on the Voldemort Harry was made the same way by myself. The spell effects had to be cut a bit short as the plate was only 32 instead of 35 wide, but they do still line up nicely with each other and are now ready to take to conventions. And my co-creator proudly posing with the finished result...

Normally, they should already be in your total on the account summary now if they are registered (mind license costs are also substracted already then), so as long as you end the month on the +, it`s all fine

Settlement: Quinnsville, "Chocolate Island", Corrington

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 3 Captain Bran settles in Quinnsville The esteemed Captain Bran, who had arrived last month at our town`s port in his vessel the Queens Shade, has become so enamoured with our coffee that he has decided to settle down permanently in the Pearl of Cocovia. Please feel welcome to drop by his newly build residence, found in the eastern part of town. Raising the Defences Apart from the small fortress that manned the town entrance, thanks to Bran we now have a second fortress defending our town from any enterpreneuring buccaneer or swashbuckler. Guarding the eastern side of the town, a strong stone tower now watches over the reefside of the bay. -
Welcome to Quinnsville captain bran and company, enjoy our most excellent coffee! And I really like the house, the white / brown framing looks excellent

Ever since professor Lapzwanzer discovered the secret of cacao in the Mysterious Cave, he has been totally enthralled by the substance, in that he even gave up his post as first contact specialist. Instead, he decided to open a small store in Quinnsville, together with a native woman he fell in love with and immediatly married (though she has no idea what that means actually, she just came along to see the world), VanillaPecanut. A small commerce for Quinnsville, this build is the continuation / conclusion of the small Professor Lapzwanzer story, which I did for the challenge back when Cocovia still needed to be officially discovered. I wanted, after the coffee shop I build, place a second commerce in the town as well, to show the second of the two natural richnesses the island held, being coffee and chocolate. Hope you like it!

I finished it, right on time for the StarCom / Comic Con convention in Ghent this sunday... my very first mosaic I ever made. I have to thank Hans from our LUG for this one, as he explained to me how to go about these things while we were driving to Brick Mania Liege last month. I wanted to start with something small, on a 32x32 baseplate, but yet iconic and recognisable. As a trekkie myself, my choice fell on the commbadge icon as it was shown during Deep Space Nine / Voyager television series. I went for a technique using bricks for the picture, and tiles for the surrounding area, giving it a bit of a three dimensional look. Sand green amongst other colours was used to give the golden edge of the badges it`s "shine" and adding some contrast to it. I think it turned out really nice for a very first try ever at this sorts of builds!

Can it be the tab does not include the "non-licensed" trade value additions, as noted in the rules? The ones that add 2 TV for every non licensed thingie

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 2 The town expands even further Today, we welcomed Captain Bran, master of the Queens Shade, a merchant vessel, to our Pearl of Cocovia. He has settled down with us, planning to conduct some business in our region, while awaiting the opportune time for expanding the greatness of Corrington into the east, and provide even more riches for the crown. In order to store his goods, a landslot has been granted and a warehouse has been erected to this end. We wish him all the best in his endeavours, and may the doubloons come in in his favor. Cabbages available Luuk Luchtwandelaar has informed us that the crops are going well, and soon the people of Quinnsville can relive a "little bit of home" as the green cabbages will be available for consumation. -

Part of the ever expanding town of Quinnsville in the Brethren of the Brick Seas building story, the next thing to add onto my list was a plantation. Now, since the game is set in a Carribean setting, the plantations that have been appearing have mostly been with local crops, like cotton, sugar, etc... Luuk? Luuk!? Are you out there helping your uncle Owen? Yes aunt Beru, the crops need watering but are doing fine, and the scarecrow we bought from that merchant Jawa'wa seems to do a fine job holding the birds away. But it still is a mighty boring job. Oh Luuk, don`t despair. We need just a few more good crops and then you can join the Lord of Driftwood's fleet of merchant vessels and sail the oceans, until some pirate falls on you as prey and you will be disfigured and sold into slavery like you always dreamed off... Yay! Thanks aunt Beru! So needless to say I wanted to do something different, and in one of those building ideas books I saw cabbages, and liked the way they where represented with green cheeseslopes. Since green cabbages are an often used veggie out here, I thought it fun to have some farming entrepreneur import them to the island and give the locals a chance to have their dinner there. I also `dutch-ised` the Luke Skywalker figure from one of the DK books, to fit in the story and with his Tatooine gown he looks good enough to walk the fields of some dusty plantation. It might also be worth telling that I`m not a Star Wars builder or lover by far, so the figure wasn`t saved for any moc in that direction anyways.

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 1 Your all new, totally random appearing, short newspaper for the Pearl of Cocovia Great news for Quinnsville economics! Today has been a joyous day for our town, the capital of coffee and chocolate. Our esteemed trade partners from MAESTRO Eslandola have raised a plantation in town, the first to be added to the town registrary. This palmwood plantation will allow our shipbuilders to replenish stocks for the Junkyard Fleet, and repair the little ships as they arrive in dismissal condition to our harbour. The Fingernail sails! As a direct result of this, our shipwrights have managed to repair the former Oleon vessel `Fingernail` to sea-worthy status. However, her master might be a little to hotheaded, as rumour has it she will go on a maiden voyage around half the known oceans unescorted. Though his reasoning might be correct in that such a little vessel probably won`t even be noticed by the sharks of the sea, some concern has arissen with the local naval board. On the other hand, if he makes it safely to his destination, the oceans might be open indeed to have ships plying around without the heavy protection they have today... -

Stardate 94091.72, Ruins on Ramtut III, Science Officer Linora reporting In order to investigate some mysterious readings we picked up from orbit, I beamed down into the ruins here on Ramtut III. Initial searches revealed no apparent source, and I started to catalogue the hieroglyphics, similar to the ancient Egypt culture on Earth, for further study. However, as I progressed further into the ruined structure, I came across a most peculiar find. An ancient powercell, dating back for about 2000 years. Was this the source of the mythical "light of the Gods" the hieroglyphs tell about? A small vignette (like with my Tolkien, I love working on those small scenes now and then), I wanted to have an Orion science officer for my motley bunch of Star Trek builds. Her head was once property of Hera, from the Ghost microfighter set, and I opted for now for "classic" uniforms until I get my custom torso`s printed for future builds.
