The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Tomsche replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And then there is that Half-Half thing called Maestro Corrington, which is like a special case as it spans two nations, is a daughter branch of the ESL Maestro corp, but is settled and rooted in Corrington. Which makes it like an independant company (we don`t benefit from the Maestro monopoly for example), but has close working ties as such between the Corrington government on the one side, and one of the three big TC`s in ESL on the other. Which is perfectly workable within about 11 out of the 12 months of a year Don`t ask "what if a war happens", that`s a bridge we don`t had to / nor hope to ever tackle, but it might be intresting to start a non official, personal TC (Maestro Cor came about as we are all in the same LUG, making it easier to coordinate and "gossip" at events hehehe) and work to become a subsidiary of a bigger one for example. Some benefits are that while Maestro Corrington can easily depend on Maestro builders to deliver it`s ships, as long as the shares are split between both the branches "at ratio" like with shares.- 897 replies

[COR - FB1 mar] Symphony of Destruction
Tomsche replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It`s actually modelled after an organ gun, so it`s all sorts of light shot and not a big boom box One has to experiment in war after all -

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 10 New ships arrive in Quinnsville A busy day in port, as new vessels sailed into Quinnsville. While mayor Smaugton revealed his latest (insane?) project, namely the armed sloop Symphony of Destruction which he had refitted with a bow mounted Organ gun, people looked more in wonder at the newest trade vessel to moor. The Puppy Hustler is a vessel build by Maestro, but will sail under license for Maestro Corrington and as such stationed in our docks until she sets out on her trade voyages. Life seems definitly returning to Quinnsville now that the winter is slowly ending! -
It's been a while (well, from BM-Antwerp) that I got my "engines fired up" to immerse myself into BoBS fully again, but to restart the building I went to grab one of the MCRA captures I still had drydocked and build. The Symphony of Destruction was captured almost a year ago, and with such a lovely name, I just wanted to do something special with her... build an Organ gun onto her deck as a sort of experimental coastal defender vessel. "Sir, we are ready for the field test" "Good, good... let me check the coordinates, in case we don`t bombard a peasants field or something..." captain Babcull answered. "It seems that we are indeed at the right location, prepare the Symphony!" The Symphony. A nickname lovingly given to an organ gun that has been build onto the deck of the captured pirate vessel Symphony of Destruction. The idea the engineers came up with, was to use the small Armed Sloop as a mobile platform to increase the coastal defences around Quinnsville. With privateers and pirates growing bolder the past months, mayor Smaugton had decreed that the whole side of Cocovia that fell under his governance needed to be shored up and become an iron wall. To captain Babcull, the whole device looked hideous, and tilted the vessel to the fore. She wouldn`t be very swift or manoeuvrable, and setting out in high tides would be asking for disaster. But if she would be anchored in the calmer waters of the bay, she might prove to be a hefty deterrent to anyone trying to enter the harbour unauthorised. "Guncrew... at the ready! Aiiiim, aaaaand UNLEASH HELL!!!!"

Hey Phred, it`s me again (hehehe) Can you check if a transfer from Maestro Cor to Maxim I for 100 db's came to pass? The licensing went without problems, but the share transfer seems boo-boo'd

The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 9 The Junkyard Fleet sails again in two weeks After some months of relative calm in Cocovia and with our captains sailing on their own agenda's, the Junkyard Fleet is sailing again soon. Maestro members and Corrington fishermen of all sorts can once again sign up to sail in an organised fashion and hopefully prevent loss of ship as happened to be the case recently. They will try to steer clear of storms as Hurricane season is upon us once again... Emptying the drydock The recent months our defense vessels have managed to capture various rogue faction Pirate vessels. While our small force of boatbuilders is almost ready with restoring one of them and putting them in the harbour for defense of Quinnsville, the mayor is selling off some more of them to friendly nations and adventurous entrepreneurs. The Armed Sloop "Nightmare", the War Brigantine "Brad the Pirate" and the War Schooner "Siren's Song" have all gone to the auction block, the proceedings promised by sir Smaugton to be flowing into the further expansion of Quinnsville. MAESTRO and the Mardier war As the most recent issue of the Kings Port Advertiser chronicled, Mardier has had several Eslandolan ports blockaded. While this has business implications for the main MAESTRO branch, Quinnsville and MAESTRO Corrington have so far not been involved in this incident, and opens our harbour facilities to any Maestro trading ship seeking refugee and restocking. When our reporter asked sir Smaugton if the Junkyard Fleet would send out any of it's small combat vessels to help the blockade, he mumbled something about "ask that foppish poncy in the next town, he thinks he owns the oceans". * * The Quinnsville Chronicler nor any of it's reporters accept any responsebility in case of miscitations. -
AUCTION! Selling captured vessels!
Tomsche replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nope, I`m fine with the starts and who can bid on them. Being the most lazy governor this side of Terra Versa, i just prefer to go with the flow and count doubloons -
As the hurricanes are rumoured to hit the southern waters again, the Junkyard Fleet will once again sail in the next MCRA. The Junkyard Fleet of Quinnsville It can be lonely out on the seas to be fishing all day long, in an effort to get some minor incomes. Pirates sail the seas, and if a single daring one stumbles upon you, Poseidon is awaiting you with open hands. So for that reason, Quinnsville, the headquarters of MAESTRO Corrington, together with it`s MAESTRO Eslandola companions, is setting out to offer some armed protection to these little class 0 fishermen, with the organising of a small Bounty Run under armed protection. WHO can join? In order to join the collective bounty run effort, anyone can enter these bounty runs with their class 0 or class 1 ships IF you are: * a Member of MAESTRO (doesn`t matter which side of the brand, being it either Corrington or Eslandola) * a citizen of Corrington (as the crown grants the use of the armed protection for this endeavor) HOW to join? Just put the name of the class 0 or class 1 vessel you want to join in the expedition, in the relevant topic. Entering closes the 10th of this month. (RL things make me fill out the forms 2 - 3 days in advance). Escorts for this month's run: HMS Terrigan (1A) and Sea Sparrow (1A) Vessels signed on: Crepe Fruite (1T) - Tomsche Fingernail (1WR) - Tomsche La Espada (0) - Tomsche

AUCTION! Selling captured vessels!
Tomsche replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Legostone, I would like to add a few vessels to the auction, as I won`t get round building then anywhere soon I fear: Nightmare - 2 Armed captured pirate vessel Siren's Song - 5 Light Armed captured pirate vessel Brad the Pirate - 3 Armed All are previous captures from MCRA's, for some reason I end up with warships instead of trade vessels lol -
A small vignette I did today (yeah, I know, I should have done it last week and take it along to the convention) is this Pokemon scene. When the Pokemon GO hype was reaching it's highpoint last summer, Minifig.me released some great beasties as well as minifigure of Ash. Now, being of "that generation" and back then having a GF who even at her early 20s was totally into Pikachu, I can say I already enjoyed the Game Boy games before the cartoon was cool. So I wanted to make this small scene with the brickprinted Pikachu, and a poor little Venonat who tried to hide in the tall grass (Game Boy players will get this reference). One Thunderbolt later, and that Pokeball can be held at the ready to catch the little bug Pokemon, slightly roasted ;-) Hope you like it!

Doesn`t matter, I`ll bring a marker to Wetteren ;-) I`ll see if I can dig up the one from the Quinnsville build itself, I fear it ended up somewhere in my tub of 1x6s of 1x8s (if not already inside some mountain) but if I`ll get by it, i`ll bring it along for you

The latest Tolkien display I completed for my Project Middle Earth, Concerning Hobbits is based around the rural life of the Hobbits... Being a mixture of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, it incorporates no less then 3 full sets and two limited edition figures. The central feature of this build is of course the gorgeous set An Unexpected Gathering, or Bag's End, from the The Hobbit line. Other sets I've included are the Gandalf Arrives set from the first wave of The Lord of the Rings range (and my first set I bought coming out of my Dark Ages), and the Frodo's Cooking Corner polybag set. It also includes two limited edition figures with the Good Morning Bilbo polybag from the videogame, and the blue coated Bilbo (who was in the extended first Hobbit movie for like 30 seconds) from the BluRay limited edition steelbox. Of course, I have an engraved brick in the front with the location, something I try to do with as much of the builds as possible... Making a female hobbit (Lobelia was the intention) isn`t that simple, as the 2x2 slope is to steep to replace the slopes often used for regular size minifigs. Instead, I went for 1x2 plates and cheeseslopes, to make the transition a bit softer. Some other hobbits are around as well, like Farmer Maggot and his two faithfull hounds (sorry, book material, he is barely visible in the movie). The rest of the build is made up of hedges to give the rural feel, and the necessary wildlife and plants to give it that nice peace and quiet image. Hope you like it!

Hellooooo Phred Here is you ol` seadog again that just doesn`t get his sailoring head around the computerising thing stuff machine Ca I ask to change the name in the sheet from MAESTRO Corrington to MAESTRO COR as that seems to be a common typing mistake here? Same happened with the MRCA results, I guess as I tried to transfer 264 DB from MCor to regular Maestro (and failed), and it seems the MCRA isn`t on the account of Mcor either, probably due to the same error? I promise I`ll do my best to NOT bother you with my boo-boo's the next month...

Well, I had some more progress on this MOC then I planned, resulting in the first planned moc for 2017 already in 2016 with a week to spare. Bucklebury Ferry is an early scene in the The Fellowship of the Ring, when our four brave Hobbits have to flee for one of the Black Riders as they set out from The Shire on the road to Bree, where Frodo is expected to meet Gandalf. In the movies, this results in them arriving immediatly in Bree, but in the books this starts of an adventure that had almost finished the whole tale. The Hobbits enter the Old Forest, where they are captured by the vicious tree Old Man Willow, and are subsequently freed by Tom Bombadil and taken to his house (two builds I got on my "planned list" in the future). They set out again and get captured in the Barrow Downs (something I already build, check my Middle Earth tab on my blog) once more for merry old Tom to intervene and then travelling on to Bree at last. Yes, the movie had several big things cut from it ;-) I build the plate with the water technique I've been using for years now, using dark, light and clear transparent pieces for giving depth to the water. The Frodo was the one from the Shelob set, as his white pupils are great to represent the terror on his face as he needs to jump to the small ferry taking off to escape the Black Rider, who has to reign in his horse to prevent crashing in the water. For the stones in the house's side, I used some really used parts I had lying around. The bite marks in those little pieces made excellent weathered bricks for the wall. The `attached hands` technique was used for the roof, while a small round door was added for the Hobbit house that stood next to the ferry. I hope you like this build, and so slowly and steadily my Middle Earth project gets further under way.

Heyhey, i`m with the lucky ones. Thanks for organising this CopMike

I did loose 3 ships in return though (2 to npc pirates, one to a Sea Rat). But the recent results are forcing a junkyard trade fleet into a warfleet, as we keep catching armed ships I`m happy i`ll have some time after the holidays to catch up and build them all / license a heap of them
