  1. The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 8 The Junkyard Fleet loses vessels to pirates The latest voyages out into the ocean for riches have been a bit of a double sided knife for Quinnsville. No less then 3 vessels where lost to various pirates, including even one stolen by the dastardly Sea Rats. Mayor Smaughton has already stated he will be having talks with Cooke, who finally arrived at the pearl of Cocovia, on what measures to pursue. With the arrival of the HMS Pendragon, a 6th rate Ship of the Line, and the recent capture of the pirate vessel Siren's Song by the Cod Hunter, a feasible war fleet could be raised if needed to defend our noble island. This light class 5 vessel is added to our roster under the "Right of First Capture", and will become the backbone of the Junkyard Fleet defences as our shipwrights have began working on the vessels in earnest to get them all seaworthy and licensed. A Veteran of an Early Age In other news, with the HMS Green Dragon arriving again safely in port and bringing riches to our economy, she has turned out to be a true veteran of the oceans, as she was there from the very first voyage, and even including her daring "banana run" for the Queen, still sails strongly and unchallenged to this day!
  2. Under the rule of first capture, Quinnsville claims possession of the Siren Song, a 5LA Tomsche Cod Hunter Chased by a pirate snow (Class 5 light A), exchanged broadsides, and was quickly boarded. Her consorts raked the snow and forced the snow to strike. Quinnsville Captured the Siren's Song (NPC, 5LA) Siren's Song Corrington
  3. A small vignette for my evergoing Middle Earth project, this little scene hails from The Fellowship of the Ring. Having just escaped the dark of Moria, and the fall of Gandalf, the Fellowship arrived in Lothlorien, home to the Lady Galadriel. While resting, Frodo is summoned to the elven queen and gets to see in the magical waters of the Mirror, showing him a possible future. Also, I still think it a shame The Battle of The Shire didn`t make the theatrical version of the story ;-) The build itself makes used of an inverted dish for the bowl and for the water, and I`m really happy with how the watersource is blended in with the tree. For Frodo, I did a "shirt swap" with the Bilbo figure, as Frodo tends to wear a white shirt during the whole trilogy, except for the opening half hour where he has the (released version) green one. Hope you like it!
  4. Here`s my entry, as a Tolkien fan, this was a great theme to work with Based on the scene from The Fellowship, the heroes are struggling on the snowy sides of Caradhras, as Saruman uses his magic to increase the snowstorm. This eventually forces the Fellowship into the Mines of Moria with all the dire consequences. But the comical part of that sequence in the film is that while they are all struggling in the chesthigh (of head high for the hobbits and Gimli) packed snow, Legolas lightly darts on top of it, and that`s what I wanted to represent. Hope you like it!
  5. *pointy head, drooly drop in corner of mouth* Thanks Cap. One day, I promise I`ll master the finesse of the transaction form
  6. Phred, is it possible the transaction I entered yesterday, 200 dbs from me towards the MAESTRO account hasn`t passed?
  7. Usually, I don`t build MCRA results for the Brethren of the Brick Seas due to time constraints and other MOCligations, but for this result I just had to do it. The Pierre Volante carries the dubious honour of being the first ship lost by the Junkyard Fleet of Quinnsville, as it wrecked itself onto a sandbank near Berelli on a trade voyage. Send out to haul flowers to make dye from, she ran into bad weather with all the disastrous consequences. The Pierre Volante, bought from the Olean shipwright Franco Clarke, completed a few succesfull trade runs before her unfortunate demise. I tried to represent the wreck using the colourscheme Franco initially used, being black timber for the hull with a brown mast. May she be remembered fondly, even though she was only a footnote in the history of BoBS.
  8. Quinnsville and a single ship It was great, now start thinking to top it next time hehehehe
  9. You can find the video`s of the whole lay-out and of Captain Greenhair giving some words about it on THIS little blogpost. Share it around as freely as you like everyone
  10. The Smaugton family, with their eyes on the port access that is granted, wants to invest those 100 DB for the granted space. Our emblem: Of course, we use the colours of our beloved Corrington nation, the scarlet and black.
  11. Right on time for Brick Mania Antwerpen next weekend, I`ve completed the second plate of my Pirate village of Quinnsville. While it collects a couple of the smaller builds I`ve been publishing the past few weeks, it`s build around them to accomodate the plate with the earlier "phase 1" into one bigger town. Things such as the dock to rest the boat in, the city life teeming around the houses, that kind of stuff basically. And an oversight of the full town "together". She will be torn down after the convention and the parts recuperated to go to Middle Earth builds, but it has been a fun project to do in 2016 for certain. Never again though ;-)
  12. The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 7 The Junkyard Fleet gains a new member With the unfortunate Pierre Volante lost at sea in the last endeavour of the Junkyard Fleet, Quinnsville has been looking for a replacement. This soon arrived, as our trade partner, the apple-lord Faladrin of Eslandola, send over the La Espada as a replacement. This little skiff has been licensed today by the Junkyard Fleet Administration Board (editor's note: the dockmaster in charge says this must be the worst paid job in the world, licensing pieces of salvage) and will set sail on an adventure soon. We wish her captain and crew the best of luck on their bounty run, and may she serve long and proud in the Junkyard Fleet!
  13. Love the map Mike, great work! To the venerable leadership. maybe (one of the) next challenge(s) should involve a new continent a bit to the southeastern side of the map, with a landgrab or something? Closes in the islands a bit nicely (pure visual, as it hasn`t got any practical use so far how far something is located from anywhere :-) )
  14. So Ska, seems your back *opens a bottle of champagne* So let me put you to work in one go and bugger you for asking what my mine prospect (posted may 27th) on Cocovia has struck.
  15. While not many might now this, I really love two fairy tales, namely Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. Not necessarily the Disney versions of them mind you, but when the figures came out and the miniatures where included, I just had to have them. While I already used Hook as a captain in my pirate city, I needed to use Peter for something as well. "Soldier, soldier, are you sure he went this way?" "Aye sergeant. The vendor said that it was a young boy, dressed like a sort of Robin Hood. He passed his fruit stall and just snatched the apple, shouting bananarama or something." "And he ran this way?" "Yes yes, towards the large tree near the quay. I asked the lady overthere if she saw anything, but she only mumbled something about finding Venonat. Whoever that might be." "Soldier please. The sea is right in front of us, the tree has no trails of someone climbing in it... next you are going to tell me you think he flew away? Get serious, and no more rum ration for you tonight!" Hope you like this finale module to go in the Quinnsville second phase, the total city as she stands now will be shown soonish :-)
  16. I don`t know if I`m still allowed to enter, but with the server change and rl house renovations, it seems I forgot to post my CH4 cat A link in here. The build itself was in time, but yeah well, swiss cheese for brains etc.. CAT A Grave Tidings / Corrington / Tomsche
  17. The Quinnsville Chronicler, issue 6 The Junkyard Fleet returns home After months at sea, the Junkyard Fleet has pulled back into harbour to unload the treasures and the trades. While modest profits have been gained, it is unfortunate that one of our brave ships didn`t make it back. The Pierre Volante, previously owned by Franco Clarke before becoming part of the Fleet, got caught in a gale and ended up wrecked beyond salvation on a sandbank near Berelli. While her career has been short with the Junkyard Fleet, she did pull in her weight and now has gone to rest. In other news, the disguised skiff that went along with the fleet somehow managed to capture a pirate vessel that tried to ambush the Junkyard fleet. The onlookers stared in amazement as the little ship did not only bring along whole nets of fresh fish for our stores, but also pulled in the armed vessel "Nightmare" and her captured crew... Grave Tidings ahead? News has reached our benevolent mayor that grave tidings might lie ahead for an Eslandolan treasure fleet that has set out to sea. It is with regret however that he must inform that Quinnsville is currently not in a position to send any sort of support to the fleet, should she be beset by wolves of the sea.
  18. I take the Pierre Volante is "out of the game" as being wrecked? The 0 db made it a bit confusing
  19. Muahahahaha, fear my class 0 of doom I think those pirates hung themselves in shame Tomsche Disguised Skiff – Result: Met in with a very amiable school of fish, and a not so amiable pirate – but it captured both. Hauled the 2A Nightmare into port, along with a great deal of fishes, 59 DBs
  20. Hey Ska, do you have any news on my prospect, it was posted end of may Don`t know what is going south since the server change though, all my links link to the thread of QV herself instead of individual builds
  21. Seconded, the use of the flags is awesome! Looks like a solid little ship
  22. Love the use of the ropes in the "flower pits", great build
  23. A small build I made for the 4th challenge of Brethren of the Brick Seas, which involves a Treasure Fleet from Eslandola. I`m registring this as a small Residence for the town of Quinnsville as well afterwards, even though it won`t be expanded on anymore with more plates, the large build will be torn down after Brick Mania Antwerp to make room for Middle Earth though. Sir Smaugton loved strolling through the residential area of his steadily growing town. The calm atmosphere of the civil area, as people went on with their everyday lives, gave him peace of mind and a sense of achievement. Suddenly though, a courier came rushing to hime. "Sir Smaugton, Sir Smaugton, an urgent message!" "Thanks" he said as he opened the letter... he read the lines, and felt his mood somber. "Oh for the love of the Queen" he muttered "it seems news has been leaked of the course of an Eslandolan treasure fleet." He felt a knot in his stomach tighten. He knew that if he gotten word, those of less noble intentions would have learned about it as well. But he also knew there was nothing he could do about it at all. With the current whereabouts of the Junkyard fleet still unknown, his small warships where not available. Nor did they bring back the cargo and riches he would need to aquire the license for the Wailing Whaif that lay for anchor in the bay. The HMS Pendragon was en route to Quinnsville, and only days out, but she would need to be repaired and restocked after a long voyage, so she was not an option either. The only thing he could do was hope that the neighbour's of King's Harbour also had received word and might be able to do something to help out... only time would tell. Hope you like it!
