  1. They usually shut down B&P buy option until mid-January, although there seems not to be a notice this time.
  2. I have a 41999 4x4 Crawler gathering dust on a shelf - 100 % complete, with extra LED lights, with box and instructions. (one instruction book has a small tear on one page), otherwise everything is in great shape. Crawler is taken out occasionally for a drive across the carpet. I will consider suitable trades for large, flag-ship Technic sets (Hint - we really want the MB Arocs), with due consideration for difference in value, I suggest BL for value reference. USA only due to postage costs. Each of us pays for postage. Please, Eurobricks Citizens or above only. Me - I have 100+ positive feedbacks on Bricklink (JGW3000) and 350+ positive feedbacks on e-bay (stonycreekminerals). Will provide pictures on request. No longer available
  3. Finally, a good reason to buy $350 LEGO set! Hopefully, my results won't vary
  4. I try to get the numbers printed on the sides of the axle/pin connectors all facing the same way. Lately I've been aligning bushes and pin connectors as well. (But only when nobody is looking).
  5. I have not been happy with the performance of my 9396 for a long time, so I am in the process of rebuilding it. The issue is that both the manual and motor-driven operation of the blades are sluggish and involves seemingly high torque, perhaps due to the large number of gears in the drive train, resulting in very slow turning blades. After completing about 82 steps in the rebuild, I got to a place in the build in which I can turn the blades with the hand knob, and again there seemed to be a lot of binding and "stiction" of the gears, which I traced to the gear directly driving the turntable being the primary trouble maker, highlighted as lime-colored in the LDD image. Loosening the build at this location, by forcing the two DSG11L beams slightly apart, resolves the issue, but is not a permanent solution as these will be tightly locked in place once the build is done. Does anyone else have similar issues, or suggestions to fix?
  6. Last night my kids and I were looking at all of the new reviews (much appreciate and excellently photographed, btw). While they all got oohs and ahhs, this set was by far the winner, with the "wheelie function" eliciting the biggest response from the 8 year old. Clearly TLH knows their market and intended audience very well!
  7. Blakbird, I think you may have converted me to the GBC religion - did I just join the dark-side? Going to go gather parts now....
  8. Sometimes it gets so bad in the kids play area, I use a small snow-shovel to clear a safe path into the room I then make them sort out all the bricks from the resulting pile. Any chance us non-French folks can get in on this action?
  9. Yes, we all agree this, and similar, are tragedies. Let this forum, and Eurobricks, be our refuge from the real world.
  10. Is this the 2016 Technic "IP Car" that has been rumored in the technic forum? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112705&st=0 And the pictures are not the same, note that the front wheels in the screen capture seem to be pointed to be making a left turn. Would be wicked if this happens!
  11. The small sets will be a big hit with their target audience - both my 8 year old son and 10 year old daughter are loving them - but for me, meh - waiting for the flagship and limited edition (if true).
  12. Personally, I am hoping for a realistically functional IR-controlled transmission in the IP car powered by a buggy-type motor. Tired of having vehicles stop when changing gears.
  13. I supported, my kids will really be into this, and the examples he gave of his kids needing more stimulation in electronics was right on the mark.
  14. So this set, 70790, in sealed box, has been on my wife's desk, at home, for at least 3 weeks now, and in our house for about 2 months... Of course I built it when nobody was around, this past weekend. An amusing build, clever mechanism, but not really all that appealing for an AFOL due to small size and unique pieces. When the family got home, the 17 year old said "cool", the 10 year was pissed she didn't get to build it first, and the 7 year old immediately took it apart to rebuild. I now owe my wife $15.00, as she was saving it for an unspecified future birthday present (note to self - find out if there is a stash of these things somewhere) - we get lots of invites for the two younger ones. But hey, its Bionicle, needed to be unleashed from its box captivity. I think it was $15 well spent for the 30 minutes build time and various reactions...
  15. Here in Connecticut we eat Lobster Rolls, much tastier than old stinky sausage rolls any day . Hopefully we will get the new sets on time this year...
  16. 92960 works also, likewise placed on its side, I've used it for some opposite-direction building, plus you can build off the third direction also
  17. Jim - I'd recommend the mule ride down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, or the half track ride in Canyon de Chelly, or just about anywhere you go in the four corners/NV/CA area is fantastic
  18. Thanks for the detailed responses! The 45544 may be a better option, as it comes with rechargeable battery and is the same price as 31313 (no VIP points though), will get the IR sensor and remote as suggested by lee82gx.
  19. Hey guys, I am serious considering getting the EV3 set for my kids, so they can learn a bit about robotics and coding - they are 10 and 7, so should be age appropriate. I am not at all familiar with the EV3, so hopefully someone can answer these questions. Can a Win 8/Win 10 PC be used to program the control brick? Will an old smart phone (deactivated) be useful for bluetooth control? Will this actually be a good introduction to coding? Aside from the EV3 set, should I get additional sensors or motors - we have plenty of bricks and technic parts already, of course. thanks!
  20. Given that the answer to everything is 42, what is the Ultimate Question?
  21. Great to see the final results, Need to get me some of them Jack Stone minifigs
  22. Overall an excellent representation of TBBT, clearly a display model. My main disappointment is in the DNA model, which looks nothing like DNA nor does it resembled the one in the original IDEAS submission, so just the one mod.
  23. Nice review Sariel, changed my mind about this set - not a day one purchase, but certainly a Bricktober acquisition. Most of your "cons" are inconsequential, so overall a set very favorable final impressions. Best part, we finally learn the name of your chief reviewer, Richard Hammond! Now waiting for the walker mod
  24. Nice review and overview of the set. For me, the pyramid looks totally unrealistic as compared to the sleek smooth corners of the real life structure; however, the main building looks great. Too bad they couldn't make some new parts for the edges.
