  1. Edelwald, Chapter 1... or something like that. "Men, look there, we've finally arrived in Edelwald. Lorenzo, were we followed?" "No Mysir, it appears not, although we can't be sure. They may have sent a familiar after us." The ragged group of men approached Edelwald's borders, from the outpost a guard rushed to great them. "Greetings Mysires, what's yer business here, don't mind me saying so but yer do not look like merchants, pilgrims or peasants?" The guard gave the men a distrustful glance. The man who appeared in charge spoke up. "My name is Aurelio Du'Benessia, you are familiar with this name are you not. I have come to visit my brother-in-law, Lord Sternvale. Here's my traveling papers, do make sure all's in order." After hearing that the guards face turned pale, he quickly looked over the travelling papers. "Milord forgive me, all appears in order, welcome to Edelwald." The 'Fallen', a former order of Kaliphlin Knights from an old linage of nobles, their house was brought to ruin and their crest all but faded from Historica. However the most recent heir in the Du'Benessia line, Aurelio, turned the knights order into a relatively infamous and sucessful group of wandering sellswords. On his travels he met, fell in love with and married, Ariadne Sternvale, sister to Reinhard Sternvale, Lord of Edelwald. The Stables The main keep, these military outposts can be found all along Edelwald's borders. The interior, aside from the main watchtower the keep also contains a cell to hold unwanted visitors and sleeping quarters for the guards to rest at. Originally I was going to build a large base with a road and a wooden wall all around the border outpost but I found myself lacking the parts to do this. edit* I forgot to mention but the building style has a bit of Mitgardia in it, which was on purpose due to Edelwald lying next to Mitgardia, hence Edelwalds architecture is a bit of a mix of Avalonia and Mitgardia. As far as the story goes, I'm not a native English speaker and writing stories is already hard in Dutch let alone in English, but I hope you'll enjoy the tales of my sigfig Reinhard Sternvale and his companions anyway. Feedback on the MOC(s) is appreciated, I can't currently improve the picture quality though.
  2. An Avalonian Cottage...
  3. Avalonian Countryside The beauty of rural Avalonia have few peers. From ripening fields to towering forests, the countryside is the heart and soul of the land. Local farmers have been tilling the earth for generations, and would like nothing more than to live out their lives in peace. However, the ambitions of greater men regularly disrupt these desires, and the young men sent to battle seldom return; some caught by the stray arrow or a sharp spear, while others are drawn in by buzz and adventure promised by the capitol. But for the people who get to live here in peace, there is no place greater. It's home. Have been wanting to build a more sizable representation of the Avalonian landscape for a while now. Tried to include different aspects of Avalonia, like fields, grasslands, moors and a few different types of forests. Hopefully it is an accurate visualisation of rural Avalonia This is my first time dabbling in microscale, and I found it both more fun and more challenging than I thought it would be. The main thing is that it allows for representing a large area with few pieces, which, with my current lego budget, is pretty critical. I definitely see myself building more in this type of scale. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it! C & C always welcome
  4. Salute! As a leader of a mercenary group, it is my duty to introduce them, to the Relm. (TASK I. -Avalonia) Conrad the Sly and his two second in command: Zan the Black Arrow, and Lok, the Wild-one. Lok commands the infantry of the Brigade. Zan commands the small group of crossbowman. Master sapper, and his cannoneers. Assasins, the unseen part of the army. Marauders, the heavy troops. Scouts, and poachers of the gang. Siege engineer, with two siege assistants, who helps the engineer with the siege weapon. Cavalry. Altho, the rest of the army using guerilla tactics. They still need to pursuit the escaping enemies. Boris, the Houndmaster. Members, of the Brigade, who not count, as the army, but they play important roles. From left: Winifred, the courtesan, Some smugglers, the gangs torturer, and the young lad: Pell, who is the banner bearer. TASK III. -Avalonia We take a lot of pleasure in the beauty of the landscape. Although the area's lords are not frowned upon if an army of mercenaries in their fields pass through , somewhere even had to settle down . Then we found Deep Gardens. Along the coast tiny fishing villages, farther inland forests, plenty of apple trees. The locals do not belong to any lord , freedom, but the cost, to no one defend them. They need our help , as we are to them . One village chief told us, about a ruined castle , it might be a good start. (I hope, that region is still available )
  5. A quick foray back into GOH before I start on my SHIPtember build. Somewhere on the Avalonian coast, an old soldier of the Avalonian military is enjoying his retirement. I would like to claim the UOP credits for landscape design, trees 3/3, and for Hydrology, Flowing Water.
  6. Hi All, After joining Avalonia this is my first GoH build to get me started. Sebastian is a 13 year old farm boy with dreams of a much more exciting life. In this scene he is relaxing in a tree on his parent's farm eating an apple. Keeping a watchful eye under the tree is his dog Hugo. I've tried a fairly basic tree coming into Autumn (although some of the leaves are holding on to their summer colour). Not sure if a simple build like this qualifies for UoP tree building points or not so happy for others to let me know. C&C welcome
  7. After receiving orders from the High Council to stand down and adhere to the truce, Beorthan has lead his troop of veterans home to the Trifork. There, the citizens are welcoming them with a heroes' parade throughout the city. Below, we see the parade marching past the Avalonian College of Commerce, Economics, and Social Studies, a small subunit of the Avalonian University near Albion. Not all made it back safely, but none were left behind. Here, the veterans are carrying their fallen brother at the place of honour on the parade, for all to honour him and remember his sacrifice. Fittingly, the parade also passes before a temple to an old God of War. HSS Religious: Temple for a God of War Barring homecoming parades to local heroes, the Academy is a busy place. In its great halls, scholars roam the bookshelves for new perspectives on contemporary issues. In the courtyard behind the main building, scholars go to discuss important issues, contemplate in deep thought, study, or to meet with their fellows. In the side wing, there are rooms for visiting scholars. The resident scholars typically have lodgings in the city, but may use the rooms for a peaceful place of study. Overview shots: HSS Scholars: The Avalonian Academy of Commerce, Economics, & Social Studies. C&C is welcome. This was intended to be a wing of the Petrayan University for Warzone 10, but I didn't manage to get it ready. And thus, the Trifork got itself an academy!
  8. Avalonia's vast and beautiful forests hold many secrets. Many ordinary citizens travel the well used paths through the forest on a daily basis, but few have any inkling that they are being watched over and protected. They occasionally hear rumors and catch a glimpse of the elusive rangers, but few have heard of a smaller branch of the rangers, the Woodland sentries. These mysterious fellows are few and far between, but they are experts of camouflage and are often posted nearby main roads and paths, to listen and watch for any signs of intrusion or danger, and if they spy an enemy or threat they can quickly and silently eliminate it before anyone even knew it was there... I got the idea for this build after seeing this build by Sir Gillian. The Woodland Sentry is from my CMF series C and C appreciated
  9. Hereby a freebuild I've got sitting on a shelf for a looong time. In the Northwest of the Trifork, the Twins command the only river running from the Lake of the Trifork. All the other rivers are upstream from the Lake, supplying it with melting water from the cold north, rainwater from the central plains surrounding Cedrica and muddy waters from the forests of north west Kaliphlin. Via the water locks, the water level of the lake can be managed, including raising it to flood the lowlands south of the Trifork in case of attack or siege, limiting access to one metalled road, easing defenses. The water lock at the Twins is one of two, allowing traffic to pass through with minimal decrease in the water levels of the lake. The second one is upstream in the middle of the city. Apart from the towers themselves, the defenses also include a chain mechanism to block of the river (and to protect the waterlocks in times of peace). This is a build for the HSS challenge. Thanks for looking - C&C welcome
  10. Next Chapter: The Tomb of Dar Askelohn Aeldric and Voraal usually took a circular patrol around the outskirts of Vanhorn, but this time they decided to take a different route. They traveled straight out west, on an old and forgotten road. They came across an old, ruined, and abandoned house which seemingly belonged to a Citizen of Avalonia. Though it wasn't necessarily abandoned, for the remains off the owner laid in a corner. Voraal peeked down a deep, dark hole in the flooring. He suggested to Aeldric that they explored it, for it seemed deep, and as if it held secrets down below. More Angles Below: The hole in the flooring: And the forests: I tried out a couple of different techniques for mini-trees here. The triple round 1x1 brick, and the dark-brown telescope.
  11. Before the war, I had a real family. I was happy. I lived an innocent life at my home near Zelpunra's Tower. But my parents died during the war, and now I have no true family. Gremlon, that old wizard everyone knows about, is watching over me, but it's not the same. It doesn't feel safe here anymore. I used to come to this stream to wade in the cool water; now I come here ready to fight my enemies. When will this ever end? More pictures can be seen on my flickr This is my entry for Category A of Challenge IV. It's one of my smallest serious builds in a long time, and I really love how it turned out . I had a lot of fun incorporating as many angles as possible in the landscaping, which was also an experiment with a color scheme I've been wanting to try out for a while. This build was also a way for me to experiment with a new angled whitewash technique, as well as a new stonework technique. I quite like how they both turned out, although they're pretty complex . Enjoy! C&C is welcome.
  12. After fulfilling his contracted task on the enchanted forests of the west region, Adam and Terryn started their return trip to Albion. They’ve been riding for 3 days and are now on BlueWater Castle region. The castle and the surrounding lands belongs to Sir Bridger and his beautiful daughter, Lady Melissa. Adam, but specially Terryn, are tired and in need for a resting place. Maybe Sir Bridger would welcome them on his castle to spend the night? Perhaps they could even get a chance to meet Lady Melissa and her legendary beauty… Hey guys, I was going to post these MOC on History Forum, but I thought it would fit well on the West Region of avalonia, my current Guild as it is home to mighty stone castles. Also, can I somehow put the castle on Avalonian map? Is that possible? I consider myself a castle builder, but I have never build a castle in the real sense of the word, so I thought it was about time I build one. As I’m working on a big display to my LUGs expositions (Comunidade 0937) and having access to a lot more parts I could go a little wild. :) This MOC stands on a footprint of 4x3 (48x48) baseplates and is more than 3 feet high. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do since the beginning, but of course some modifications and adjustments were made along the build, such as the positioning of the various towers on the main walls or the shape of the half-timbered sections. A few facts and thoughts that I would like to share: - Its viewable from the 4 sides and completely modular so it can easily be transported. - Despite having access to more parts, I still had some limitations. So, for instance, I had to use more LBG 1x2 plates and 1x2 masonry dark tan bricks on the walls that I wanted but nevertheless I think it turned out Ok all the same. - The colors used on the landscape terrain are not the ones that I would like to use, but again, due to its size, I had to use more common ones. - I build this at home and took me about 250 hours in 50 or so days to build this MOC. - I have no idea how many parts it’s made off! If someone as a rough idea, please let me now. But I can tell you that just on the landscape alone and on the castle interiors I used around 10000 2x4 bricks of various colors and on the walls I used at least 4000 round 1x1 bricks. - The landscape was not my priority as it will sure suffer some changes and adding’s when integrated on the full display so I spend just 5 days on it and is not yet as I want him to look. - Also, the trees are somewhat simple as I need them to be brickbuild (for easier transportation and also due to time restrictions) but I kind like them that way. - Naturally, I’m a BIG noob in taking good pics and these are total crap (overexposed, poor lighting, poor focus). Taking reasonable ones was a huge #$#/&%$ pain and in my opinion it looks so much better in person :) Hope you all like it. It sure was an immense fun to build these one :) I will try to upload more pics in a few days before I get this huge thing in card boxes :) BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle
  13. As the Trifork spread accross the banks to the north side of the river, New Town appeared. During the Revolword wars, the Lord Mayor of the Trifork ordered ramparts build to ensure the safety of this new neighbourhood. These were build by setting heavy logs into the ground and stacking stone and dirt on both sides about 3 meters in height. For the top part of logs still exposed, they were reinforced by an additional row of logs and a walkway for the patrols was established behind this wall. It is manned by the now reformed militia of the Trifork, armed with fine Shadowmere steel and trained by experienced warriors. While not as formidable as a stone city wall, the ramparts are resilient to siege weapons, gives the defenders a favourable position for fighting, breaks any enemy charge, and is cheap and easy to maintain and improve. With the Drow incursions, a large battle in the nearby Wither Woods, aggressive Mitgardian dwarves, civil war in Nocturnus, and new rumours of troubles brewing in Kaliphlin, plans are being made to expand the northern defenses with a moat, wooden spikes and a number of bastions, but work has not yet commenced. The inhabitants of New Town can only hope this will not prove a catastrophic delay...
  14. The Trifork, located at the junction of several busy waterways, has long prospered from the trade of goods flowing up and down the rivers. One of the first stone structures to be raised, the main quay has long allowed ships of all sizes to dock and exchange goods and passengers. (HSS Nautical: Harbourmasters office and lighthouse & HSS Labourer: Warehouse) All harbour administration, as well as collection of tolls and dues, is handled by the harbourmaster. The stately sandstone building overlooks the port area and commands the only entrance to the quay. Due to frequent fogs on the Trifork lake, a lighthouse has been erected in connection with the harbourmasters office to lead ships safely to the port. Next to the harbourmaster, the busiest warehouse of the Trifork is located, holding most of the transit goods passing through the port. Goods intended for the city itself is normally shipped directly to merchants and warehouses in the city, but those goods waiting to be loaded onto another ship is kept safe in this warehouse. (HSS Nautical: Shipyard) Next to the quay, the local shipyard is placed. Its experienced shipwrights are renowned for their swift and manoeuvrable river crafts. Due to popular demand, the slipway is rarely empty, and many of the ships navigating the Avalonian rivers was built here. In times of war, fast and agile warships can be lauched at an impressive pace, given the proper ressources are available. (HSS Nautical: Quay and Cranes) The quay is rarely empty, and right now the Swiftsure patrol craft is being outfitted for another patrol, a merchants ship is being unloaded, and a small traders boat is docking. At times, the port is so busy that several ships que up awaiting docking space. The port is one of the key elements in the city's prosperity, and the council goes great lengths to protect its interests on the Trifork lake, as well as up and down the rivers. In the recent turmoil, rivertrade has gone up, as merchants are less vulnerable on the rivers than on the roads. Further, the river port is a great asset in times of siege, where supplies can be brought in under the nose of the besiegers. ________________________________________________________________________________ Additional photos: __________________________________________________________________________________________ A note to the photos: I found it really hard to photograph such a large build. And since photographing isn't my strongest point, the size didn't help me out. Tips are welcome, and I hope you can see past the questionable quality of the photos! Comments and criticism welcome
  15. In the middle of New Town, on the north bank of the river, the mill of the Trifork is located. Here grains from a wide area surrounding the Trifork is ground to flour before being shipped off by ship or caravan, sent to the bakeries, sold in the market, or stored in warehouses for times of need. (Or more favourable market conditions...) With a mill inside the walls, the Trifork is well-positioned to build up large stocks of grains and flour, meaning the Trifork rarely suffers in times of war and famine. Further, the traffic of grains going in and flour and bread going out, has established the Trifork as an important market for grains and related products. Avalonian wheat for north west Kaliphlin alone represent an immense volume of trade. Here the miller is loading a wagon with the last few hours of production, which will be going to the bakeries of Old Town south of the river. ====================================================================== This is a build for the HSS challenge. The mill rotates 360o degrees, so it can be turned into the wind. Further, there is a working grindstone inside, turning with the wind. Quite happy with the outcome of this, and looking forward for some feedback.
  16. Discussions at Sea (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 15) Previous Prelude chapters: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Discussions at Sea meeting at sea by skaforhire, on Flickr Aboard the Fishmonger’s Wife Captain Nelbort Northman receives the diplomats from Ulandus. His privateer vessel had been roaming the Spice Islands, looking for goods-laden Kaliphlin ships heading for Mitgardia that had their papers out of order… Ten days back, while restocking at Barqa, he received a letter from the Foreign Ministry of Mitgardia, asking them to pick up a diplomat on one of the southern Spice Isles. Always willing to help, Northman headed to the location. He exchanged pleasantries with a ship flying colors he did not recognize – Blue and Green – but they also had a Kaliphlin flag. Four men boarded his ship, and he set off for his home waters. The men were dressed similar to Far Eastern Kaliphinites who lived on the Eastern coast just south of Nocturnus. They had similar accents as well. Their leader, Moti Shinzu, became fast friends with Norhtman. Northman was happy to have someone with so much interest in privateering on board. As they traveled they talked about the strange new subcontinent that he hailed from. DSC_1678 by skaforhire, on Flickr Moti had just finished fishing one day when Northman came to him for one of their usual talks. “So what does Ulandus want with Mitgardia? Why are you headed so far away from Kaliphlin, if the emperor wishes only to rejoin Kaliphlin? Asked Northman. Moti was quiet for a moment, and as usual, gave a calculated answer. “All great guilds need strong friends. We know of the arms race last year between Kaliphlin and Mitgardia. It is the emperors wishes that Kaliphlin and Mitgardia put aside their differences and prepare for a more trying time.” “What could be more trying than the series of guild civil wars we have been facing the last few years?” Northman asked. DSC_1677 by skaforhire, on Flickr “Putting a king back on the throne of Cedrica, making Historica whole again.” Moti answered. “Peace between the guilds is essential for this, and for the next steps.” After he said the last bit he looked shocked, as if he may have given something away. As much as Northman tried to get Moti to tell him of the next steps, the soft-spoken diplomat would not budge. Finally he altered the subject a little. “What does Kaliphlin and Ulandus offer Mitgardia?” Moti began what seemed like a very well-rehearsed line. “In return for support and friendship, the Emperor will persuade the council to drop all duties on Mitgardian goods, and having much wealth from the oil trade, will pay Mitgardia a large subsidy each year for thirty years. Free water and food will be available in every Kaliphlin port for any Mitgardian vessel. Kaliphlin will support Mitgardian claims on the northern plains of the territory known as Cedrica. Finally, the new king will be Mitgardian.” “Won’t the Avalonians and Nocturnans have a problem with that last bit?” Moti said. “The Emperor has other plans for Avalonia. They will be happy with what we have already offered them.” When Northman looked at the diplomat, he spilled the rest of the beans. “The Emperor will support Avalonian claims on Esterbroke, and allow for joint occupation of the island. It will be divided in half.” “The High Council will not go for that.” Northman said, he knew the Kaliphlinites were busy making plans on that island, and the last time he visited it, it was 90% Kaliphlinites in the civilized parts. “Some of the High Council will no longer be welcome in Petraea. A civil war is expected. Sides have firmed up in the last month, since Dextrus was killed.” Moti said. “It seems the neutralists on the Council have lost much of their support to both the Desert King and to the Emperor. The Emperor being much stronger.” Moti said. “And what about Nocturnus?” Northman said. “There are certain elements of Nocturnus that don’t fit into the future.” Moti said, and that was all he said about the subject. Northman had caught the whole angle though, not one of the three sides were powerful enough to sway the others without fighting. Ulandus needed Avalonia and Mitgardia to turn the tide of war. Moreover, they probably wanted Mitgardia to deal with the Desert King in the north, and keep his Nocturnan allies at bay, while the Avalonians crushed the Neutralists who were strong in the west. This strategy seemed too plain to see. He wondered how much the other two factions were willing to give to join their side. One thing was for certain… privateering was about to become much more lucrative.
  17. The oldest inn in the Trifork, The crown was build for the King's messengers passing through on their way to Albion. Located in one of the nicest neighbourhoods of the Trifork, you often see the posher youths meeting nearby. While the rooms are small, the beds are comfortable, and the inn offers a measure of luxury with a large spa on the roof. Just a small build for the HSS task. Hope you enjoy it - was a fun build.
  18. In the nick of time I finally managed to get my minifigs photographed. I built most of them weeks ago, but never got around to taking pictures until today. I hadn't had time to closely follow what you others have made yet, so in case any of my minifigs reassemble yours I apologize for that. Anyway, here they are: Avalonia: Avalonian Spearman The bulk force of most Avalonian armies. Perfect for protecting the less armored archers with his large shield. Very common soldier for the nobles private armies. Druid This experienced leader draws his knowledge and faith from the nature around him, seeking the true power of Mother Earth herself. He can often be found in the sacred growths in the Avalonian forests. Noblewoman The Avalonian Noble can live well of her family's fortune, but that's not the case for everyone in this land. To help ease her conscience this noblewoman has decided to pass out apples to the poor in nearby villages. Forest Nymph This spiritual being lives her life in the wilderness and cares nothing about the civilized world. Her only concern are for the creatures living in the forest. Her whistling has caught many wanderers ears but few have seen her for she's very shy. Kaliphlin: Petrean City Guard The capital of Kaliphlin needs a reliable force to keep order in the city's many streets and allies, as well as manning the walls in case of a siege. This man does his job, but some say the City Guards care more about their own appearance than the well-being of Petrea. Blade Master Trained with blades in hand since the age of six, this highly effective fighter usually uses her skills for entertainment rather than combat. Performances at private parties for the noble class in Kaliphlin can be rather lucrative and certainly safer than assassinations. Kaliphlin Counsellor Information is of great importance in this age and time, and the counsellor devotes his time to collect as much of it as possible and then pass on the important parts to his lord. Although high-born himself, his bad position in the line of succession in his family had him choose a career than served rather than being served. Feather Dancer The sensual movement of body and feathers is mesmerizing to all that witness this dancer. People from far away come to experience one of her shows and so far none has been disappointed. Mitgardia: Mitgardian Captain The rough seas in the North is no match for this seasoned captain. He has led his pack of raiders across the water so many times he has lost count by now. The coastal villages of northern Avalonia has learned to fear the sight of his ships. Fisher from the Clan Lands The Clan Lands of Mitgardia are cold, and the coldest are located at the border to the Frozen Beyond and inhabited only by a few frost-bitten souls. The waters are very rich in fish however, so at least the pale skinned people of the far North have plenty of food. Rumor has it that one member of the clan has traveled south, but it was very long since anything was heard from him. Nobleman The noblemen in Mitgardia are very proud and persistent in their independance from the Jarl. This one is no example and he proudly wears his house colors instead of the yellow and green of the Guild. His personal feuds with neighbours and vassals are of much bigger importance to him than foreign relations with "southerners". Merchant The trade in Mitgardia is mostly focused on raw material like furs, iron and timber. The merchants are always trying to surpass each other in share of the market and volume of trade. A lot of gold can be made if you can create your own niche of trade and this young woman seems to have succeded in that. Every good deal is of course sealed with a toast from the golden goblet. Nocturnus: Nocturnian Bersek Born and raised with one purpose, this creature has known nothing but war. Every day is a fight for survival and killing enemies is the only task. If he had been born in a different place in a different time, could his life had turned out different? Dark Wizard The magic that surrounds this wizard is darker than the night, but the gold in his outfit glows steadily when he performs his secret spells. The wizard is more powerfull than you would ever imagine, but prefers to keep his powers to himself. His home is located far away up in the mountains and protected by numorous spells to keep intruders away. Imp Soldier This short grown creature is more dangerous than his hight reveals. The imps has a large underground society in Nocturnus, but are constantly under attack from other factions. The rumour of the rich treasures of the imps are well spread but none has so far managed to infiltrate their caves and thunnels thanks to a fearless defence from the imp soldiers. Bat Trainer The vampires of Nocturnus have many specialities, but this one has focused on training bats for pet keeping. Vampires have of course a special connection to bats of all forms and can easily communicate with them, but it takes time to train a bat to feel comfortable with other races. Keeping bats has pets has grown in popularity among the nobles in Nocturnus and the bat trainer hopes that the trend will spread to the other guilds as well. It's been fun designing different minfigs and also very fun to write the short descriptions. Maybe this will spark my interest in GoH again and I will be able to produce some builds again soon. After all, I can't just abandon Ettu somewhere in the southern Mitgardia.
  19. The wonderful story you're about to read, was a collab effort. See if you can guess the authors (Setting: A simply but tastefully adorned room in a chateaux near a lake at the border of Kaliphlin and Avalonia. A young lady leans on the windowsill. Enter spy.) Spy: (bowing) Good day. Lady: (turning) How is it you are back already? Why, you're all wet! Spy: (embarrassed) Yes...yes... but I think I have discovered what you were looking for. Lady: Well? Spy: Early in the morning, just as the sun peeked up over the horizon and shot a gleam of its crimson rays across the dark and foreboding sky, kissing the golden dome on top of the magnificent stone edifice that loomed... Lady: I've seen the castle. There's no gold dome. Spy: There isn't? I was so intent on my task I hardly noticed, you see. Never mind - as I was saying, early in the morning I began to climb the walls, hanging at times only by my nose to the jutting angles of the stony walls, scraping my arms and knees, my heart thumping in my chest for fear I should fall. Once I looked down, and a cold shiver ran through me... Lady: You're making that up too. Spy: (embarrassed) Yes, I was. Well, to proceed. I climbed the walls and got in through one of the windows. It was an incredibly tight squeeze I assure you! Not only is the window itself tiny - as I'm sure you noticed when you visited (with a bow) - but the bars that crossed it were so small I had to exert all my strength... Lady: Really, can't we get on with the story? There aren't any bars either! Spy: I'm sorry. I had no idea you were so observant! Lady: (in an aggrieved tone) That's not the point! I didn't send you so I could hear some fancy story! I want to hear about his day. Spy: I promise, I'll stick to the story. Lady: Then begin! Spy: Over the wall, in the window. I was on the top of the castle, and could just peek over into Chillon's bedroom - he was just getting up... Spy: (grunting) So there he is! He sleeps in late, I'll say that much! Chillon: (stretching) Welcome morning! (jumps out of bed) Ouch! Canopy beds! (rubs head) (yawning) Caleb! (snaps fingers) Where's my breakfast? Caleb: Right here, sir Chillon. Chillon: Ah, delicious! Lady: (interrupting) What was his breakfast? Spy: Cherries, apple, and chicken. Lady: Hmm. That's an interesting breakfast. Spy: (shrugging) Probably part of why he's looking for a wife! To continue - Spy: (twisting) What is that in the corner? A second ago it looked like another bed, now - goodness, it's a mirror! Chillon: (humming to himself) Thank you! (continues to hum while walking toward the mirror) So far so good! Here, help me with the rest of my armor. Spy: Well, whatever you can say for the master the serving-man is even worse! The clown is putting the armor on backwards! Chillon: (angrily) Whatever is wrong with you, Caleb? You put it on backwards! Caleb: I'm very sorry. Just a minute sir. (fumbles with the straps) Chillon: There! You've knotted the top left to the bottom left and the right bottom to my belt! Oh, let me alone, I'll do the rest myself! Caleb: (penitently) I'm very sorry, indeed. Let me fix it (advancing). Chillon: No! Go downstairs and tell Mathew I'll be down for a sparring bout in just a minute. Caleb: Yes sir! (disappears down stairs) (after fixing his straps, Chillon walks over to the mirror and makes sure everything is just right) Chillon: Much better! Ah - my cape. (Caleb returns) Chillon: Did you tell him? Caleb: Yes. Chillon: Here, help me with the cape. Caleb: Of course (advances, stumbling over chair). Chillon: Never mind! Spy: (to Lady) You see? He certainly needs a wife! Lady: I'll have to admit that much. But I don't know that I'm so desperate! Spy: It gets better. Chillon: (fumbling with the wrong side of the cape) I could use some help! Lady: I thought you said it gets better... Spy: I meant, in a little while. Lady: Go on, then. Spy: (clears throat) Caleb: (picking the chair up) Coming! Spy: At last! Perhaps we'll be able to see the 'sparring bout' now. Spy: I noticed as they left that he hadn't eaten the apple or the cherries. In fact they might have been fake. Lady: Nothing but chicken for breakfast?! Spy: Nothing but chicken! Continuing - I snuck down the stairs after they left and got down to the armory just when the sparring match started. Chillon: There's nothing like the sound of steel clashing on steel! Matthew: You're right there, sir Chillon! Chillon: (waving his sword wildly backwards) Here it comes! Matthew: Watch out sir! The candle! (Chillon's sword cuts through the wax and the candle crashes to the floor.) (A long pause.) Lady: Well, what happened? Spy: (awkwardly) I think I laughed. Lady: You laughed? What kind of spy are you? Spy: I know, I know, but it really was funny! Matthew was trying to beat the flame out with the sword, but Chillon hadn't noticed it yet and he was attacking Matthew... Matthew: Sir Chillon! What are you doing! Can't you see you cut the candle down? Chillon: (in surprise) You're right! I knocked the candle down! Ha! Eat dust, flames! (Chillon runs to another candle.) Take this! Matthew: (running up) Sir! It's just a candle! (laughter from behind pillar) Chillon: What was that? (spots spy behind pillar) Look! A spy! An enemy at last! Get him! (runs after spy) Spy: (apologetically) Of course, I turned around and ran. I couldn't let him catch me. Lady: Of course not. Spy: So I went up the stairs. Lady: Naturally. Spy: And Chillon followed me. Lady: Not surprising. Spy: Then I went up the ladder. He kept following. Lady: Proceed. Spy: He's very fast. Lady: What is that supposed to mean? Spy: He caught me. Lady: What?! Chillon: What on earth are you doing here? Spy: Sir, I assure you my intent was friendly... I.... um... Lady: I hope you didn't tell him why you were there. Spy: (clears throat) Um... Lady: You didn't! Spy: (hurriedly) No! No! Not at all... er... at least... not all... Lady: Tell me what you said. Spy: I think I said... that you sent me... and... that was all. Chillon: Really! How did you get here? Spy: See that boat? Chillon: Can you swim? Spy: Er... yes. Chillon: Then do so! (throws spy out window) Chillon: (shouting) And tell your lady that I'll be there in an hour to see if it's true! Lady: What?! Spy: (apologetically) That's what he said. (enter Serving-man) Serving-man: (announces) Sir Chillon! ... More pictures of the build: This build was based off of the real Chillon Castle from Switzerland, in particular this section: link It's the first castle I've done that is pretty realistically scaled. On the first floor is an armory, and on the second floor is Lord Chillon's room. The layout was rather challenging, as were the roofs, but I'm pleased with the final result. The thick walls let me use some new window and arrow slit designs. I experimented a bit more with a SNOT wall design, as the tower gradually gets thinner. The bartizan (overhanging corner turret) is my first, and I'll probably be doing lots more of those in the future. Hope you enjoyed the story and you can see lots more pictures here: link C&C always appreciated
  20. Here is my entry to the GoH Anniversary Contest Cedrica Royal Guard of Cedrica With the King's whereabouts lost in the mists of the Revolword Wars, the Royal Guards of Cedrica are guarding an empty throne. Which may prove more dangerous than you should think… Mitgardia Northman Normally, he will be herding reindeer on the plains or icefishing on the frozen lakes of the far north, but when called upon to defend his homeland, he is a fearsome fighter. On top of this, his "moose-in-heat" battlecry is rather fearsome… Dwarven Prospector Some say dwarves have a sixth sence for valuable minerals, while others say its all about hard work in the dark mines. The truth is likely somewhere in between. Merchant Captain From the port of Thorshaven, this seacaptain roams the waters of Historica in an armed merchant vessel, shying away from nothing in the quest for fame and fortune. Well, almost nothing… Is that a seamonster?! Nocturnus Crocman Warrior Born and raised in the Moruth Swamps of Nocturnus, this warrior navigates water as well as land. This cyclops farmer tends his crops as tenderly as any elf - Unless they bite back, that is. Orc Warchief Orcs tend to be the cannonfodder of any epic battle, but some do survive the onslaught. Those who survive enough battles to grow old, amass enormous experience and are often chosen as warchiefs. 21. Here's my series for this glorious contest: Four minifigs for four regions! Kaliphin Cyclops Centurion Graabolk is a mighty man (cyclops) in Kaliphin. He is bit of a strategist but mainly just horribly brave and inspiring leader. Smyt Smytsson is a bad-mannered dwarf bandit. He is likely banished by his kin due to his un-dwarfish clothes, manners and choice of weapon, or probably because they envy his pompous moustache. Uses a lot of chewing tobacco. Glorp the orc is something like a friend of Smyt's. He is a bandit too, master of mugging bedouins. He wears a head of one of his victims on his head with the turban and all. Cherbyl is a desert sprite, alluring but dangerous. She seeks the deserts for lost explorers and caravans and misguides them with mirages. She has form of a human, limbs of a bird and mind of a snake. Mitgardia Airen of Annugard is a hunter and scout who loves to patrol the borders of his home region. She is not a warrior, but definitely knows how to fire some nasty arrows at enemy's skull. Megga McManbata is one of the few highland mammothmen, an odd and mysterious race that is driven near extinction by human and dwarf settler. His fur is to thick that no clothes are needed; the kilt is an status symbol. Grimholt the Steadfast is a dwarf colonel (offensive squad). He gives his everything to defend the mines against monsters, hordes and taxmen. Goltana the Icesaint is one of the sacred white mages of Mitgardia. Her odorous potions and waxes do miracles to frostbites and sometimes even to lost limbs (or not the limbs, not much use to heal those, but the parts where they are lost, you know). Avalonia Sissa is a elven ranger. She is the master of camouflage and especially loves spring when the grassland and woods of Avalonia are full of beautiful flowers is full bloom. Bulgplop the Pikeman Pikeman is one of the guards of the Pikeman tribe that lives in the marshes of Avalonia. His pike's pike is made of pike's fishbone. Pikemen's pikes are also to jack pikes. Pikes are important in pikemen's culture. Jetro the Smith is the strongest man in Avalonia. He is not that good in making sharp blades and such, but he can swing hammer (and an anvil too) better than anybody and has enough muscle to bend cold steel with his bare hands. Bingo von Hinderal is the mayor of the town of Badhammod. He's a nice man and totally not a warmonger, and loves good food and drink. He's mostly very harmless, except during the years of famine. Nocturnus Clarol was daughter of loving parents in Avalonia but dark spirits stole her as a baby and took her to Nocturnus. Years in dungeons turned her into something dark and very dangerous. Fear and hatred gave her terrible strenght and her mind is full of twisted thoughs. Bjorn Gurmadon is a Nocturnian dwarf ambassador and an officer. Living in Nocturnus is hard for dwarves, but rich resources have driven his kin into this parts of Historica. Gurmadon tries to negotiate with sorceres, vampires and evil sprites to keep his people safe, and sometimes it deems a use of his greatsword. Evorma the Sorcerer moved into Nocturnus in the seek of true dark powers. He has the obligatory iron staff, black robe with occultic symbols and brooding wizard tower. He has not found the true dark powers yet. Were-Knigh is one of the unnamed evil warriors that patrol the dark valleys of Noctunus. They are strong, restless and have excellent sense of humour. No wait, excellent night vision is what I was saying. I hope you enjoyed these figs - probably one day I'll build an actual MOC to GoH!
  22. Nocturnian Brethren... you did not see this. In the heart of Albion lies Norah's Noria, a place for those too far from clean water (or when the city is under siege) to get a barrel. This noria is ox driven allowing more water to be pulled from the well than any hand cranked noria would allow. Norah's ox is named Draema. Draema is known to be the most powerful ox in all of Albion. Norah's elder son, Forman, guides Draema along the path to drive the noria's wheel. After the water is pulled from its source, the barrels are stored or loaded onto carts for distribution around the city. Norah's husband, a carpenter by trade, helps load the barrels onto a cart for delivery. For any citizen that misses the noria sitting out front of Norah's house, the structure can be identified by the water barrel sign hanging out front. Norah's younger son, Frasen, keeps the barn and store house clean. ===================================================================================== I designed this build to complement the Albion Forge that I did as a remix to the DC's classic "Ye Old Forge". The landscaping colors and contours are similar, but this time the design is all mine. There are parts of this build that I like better than the Forge, but overall I still think the Forge is a better show piece. A bonus shot:
  23. Well this one is the longest... A King Reborn (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 18) Chapters so far: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Chapter 18 Chapter 19 Chapter 20 A King Reborn (Sorry, I had some really bad lighting issues with most of the rest of the builds.) throneroom by skaforhire, on Flickr The Desert King Ark'Mora Raa looked down on the Nile Croc emissary lying prostrate before him. He was in his secret throne room in Kaligem – the lost city was being repaired quite rapidly, and he thought that he may be able to move the capital from Sultan’s Gate back to his home in a matter of months. But today, he was here receiving pledges. The Nile Crocs were an interesting lot, he could remember freeing their ancestors from the clutches of the Goblin King, 2000 years ago. Of course then they were mostly denizens of the Enchanted Forest and not the Mainlands. He was pleased with the emissary’s people. Apparently they had already begun to fight near Queenscross in his name. It did seem as many of Kaliphlin’s peoples were pledging to their true leader once again. For the first time in a long time, he began to think about his first life, how he came to be, and Ner’I’ti. Oh Ner’I’ti… +-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-+ The very chamber that they sat in presently was not always a throne room. In fact, it had been the burial chamber the entire Raa Dynasty. His Greatest Grand Father still sat behind him, however the rest of his relatives were no longer occupying the chamber. tomb8 by skaforhire, on Flickr He remembered coming to the Tomb of Kings as a boy with his father Ahmendi Raa, his older brother Kalin’ti Raa, and his father’s closest advisor, Horros. This was the first time he had been allowed into the sacred crypt, and he had many questions. “quit your prattling,” his brother complained. “Father has brought you here to witness my ascension to the line of kings.” Ark’Mora was wise enough not to incur the wrath of his brother, and he knew that his brother was about to become a god, and his training told him one does not upset a god. Even if that god is his spiteful brother. The other gods had chosen Kalin’ti, and it was now time to begin his ascension. His brother was lucky, his father was still alive to start the process. His father began the sacred ritual, which lasted all of two minutes. “Fathers, gods, rulers to come, we call to you to begin Kalin’ti Raa’s ascension to Pharaoh.” Ark’Mora zoned out thinking about what this all meant. He was there because he would be first minister to his brother, although not a god like Kalin, he still would be essential in running the three kingdoms of Kaliphlin. His father had not been lucky enough to have an advisor of the same bloodline; he was forced to kill his two brothers to take the throne. His first minister, Horros, was a much different man, and Ark’Mora had realized early on in his tutelage that Horros likely kept the kingdom together, as his father distanced himself from the mortals. His father cared more for preparing himself for his second life that managing the kingdoms. This was evident in the current war against the Snow and Dark Elves of the northlands. There were rumors of the Western Marches preparing to rebel, also. His grandfather had destroyed most of the great Drow cities that were North of the three Kingdoms and had forced their people to begin to build settlements underground instead of above it, but his father’s turning away from military matters had allowed the Snow Elves and their darker kin to resurface. As first minister, he knew he would have to prosecute the war. DSC_1732 by skaforhire, on Flickr Twelve was a young age to be tutored in the way of statecraft, but Horros was sure that Ark’Mora was a promising student, so much that he had convinced his father to decree that Kalin’ti could not kill Ark’Mora. Kalin had already killed one of their brothers, as he saw him as a rival. Ark’Mora was considered too weak, and would soon become unable to bear and heir, thus taking away any sort of divinity. Ark’Mora snapped back to attention when he saw Horros’ bad eye staring at him. He knew the boy was daydreaming. His father was finishing the last part. “And May the line of Raa continue in eternity.” He had given Kalin’ti the blood amulet already, and Ark’Mora had been a little sad that he had not paid attention to the ascension. He wanted to see if Kalin’ti would change before his eyes or not. With the ceremony over, Ark’Mora began more questions. “Why is this space vacant he said, pointing to a position closest to the father of the Dynasty, Kaliph Raa. DSC_1730 by skaforhire, on Flickr “The closer to Kaliph Raa, the more important the Pharaoh. As you can see, the baby king is all the way at the end of this row, and right here, in the most important spot is your grandfather, conqueror of Nocturnus and Great Uniter of the Three Kingdoms.” Horros said. At this moment in time, Ark’Mora was uneasy thinking about the darkness of the third kingdom, Nocturnus. In time that would change greatly. Ner’I’ti… His father followed this up with his own boast: “That is my spot, I am worthy of my father’s spot. And for that reason, when Kalin’ti ascends to the throne in many lifetimes from now, I will begin my voyage to the second life here in this spot.” Ark’Mora was almost positive that his father would not be considered high enough by the priesthood for this spot, but there was a more suitable spot two sarcophagi down from his grandfather. He doubted that any of the living Raas could live up to his grandfather. His mind shifted to another time. He was walking through the streets of Kaligem with his brother and Horros. Horros was teaching the boys about responsibility. “You must be humble to people, they are your life blood” Because Kalin’ti was a god, Horros could no longer give him lessons, but he could give Ark’Mora lessons, which were meant for Kalin’ti to listen to and benefit from the same advice. Ark’Mora doubted that Kalin’ti listen to half of the speeches. Neither his father nor brother were very good with the people, and took the god aspect to a new level, his father would not let mortals touch him, while his brother believed that all mortal possessions, including their own lives, belonged to him. This was one of those times. “The hand that helps a lost soul, will have another soul to serve him in the afterlife…” Horros trailed off as Kalin’ti walked up to a sleeping man on the street. DSC_1803 by skaforhire, on Flickr “You!” Kalin’ti said, “Why do you pollute my streets with your filth?” The man jumped up immediately realizing who was standing before him. He immediately bowed. DSC_1804 by skaforhire, on Flickr “I am sorry my lord, I am a veteran of the West Marches Campaign. I came home and my house is gone, the new temple is being built there. I have no money, no more clothes, and my wife died of pox. I laid my head down here as the streets are the only home I know now. Please forgive me, I will move on.” The man graveled. DSC_1806 by skaforhire, on Flickr Kalin’ti threw the man up against the wall, and the frightened veteran cowered back to the ground. The prince lifted his foot up and began stomping on the man’s face. “You will not dirty my city. You are nothing. You are sand between my toes. You are fleas on a camel. You must know your worth – nothing. You could not have the courage to die fighting the Faeries of the Enchanted Forest, you can die here beneath my boot!” DSC_1809 by skaforhire, on Flickr Horros gasped, he knew he could not stop the prince, now that he had ascended. This was the first time the Desert King had seen someone die in front of him. +_+_ Ark’Mora’s mind flashed forward to his father’s death. He had died in sleep, and from the rumors the boy had heard, most likely from too much drink. He was now in the Tomb of Kings, where Kalin’ti was directing men to begin crafting the sarcophagus at the foot of Kaliph Raa. It was at this point that Ark’Mora had had enough. His father could not have been a god, let alone be buried next to the greatest god kings of all time. “The priests have not approved this yet.” Ark’mora said. DSC_1749 by skaforhire, on Flickr “You belittle our father after his death?” his brother said. “You think yourself on the same level to decide where a GOD is buried?” “I think Horros would agree with me, we must wait for the priests.” Ark’Mora said, knowing that he was standing on quicksand in this situation. “Horros has gone to the great hall to serve our father.” What? The Great Hall? This meant that Horros had been prepared for the afterlife – killed, mummified, and packed into the Great Hall. This was a common ritual for wives, petty servants, and cats, but not for a first minister. Horros was supposed to oversee the transition between Pharaohs. “That is not the way it is done!” Ark’Mora protests. “You will join him in the hall. Father demanded it.” His brother snickered. “Tomb Guard, take my brother to the Great Hall!” The tomb guard came forward to apprehend the boy. Without thinking, Ark’Mora ran to the tomb of the Greatest Raa, and took his staff. A gold Serpent that was said to hold immense power, that only a god could wield. Ark’Mora should not have been able to remove the staff, but he needed something to defend himself. DSC_1750 by skaforhire, on Flickr It slid out with ease, and he turned on his brother. The guard hit the ground prostrate and mumbled “oh great one.” His brother kept coming though. DSC_1754 by skaforhire, on Flickr Ark’Mora declared in a booming voice “You are not worthy, Kalin’ti. You and our father are not worthy of the power of these thrones.” And as he forced his brother back, he fell into the shallow water that surrounded the sarcophagi. But… DSC_1758 by skaforhire, on Flickr It wasn’t shallow for some reason. As he pointed the staff at his brother, his brother kept sinking… the water should not even come up to his knees, but still, his brother sank. DSC_1760 by skaforhire, on Flickr Until finally, his brother disappeared without a trace. Unlike the ascension of his brother, where Ark’Mora witnessed nothing unusual, he knew that in that moment he has ascended, and he knew he was a different person. +-+-+-+ The Desert King let his mind wonder. The War against the Shadows, The reconquering of the Drow. The decimation of the Snow Elves… his three greatest military achievements. The great Arch, the Triumphal Dome of Merriph, The great Golden Road, the third wall of Kaligem, his greatest architectural achievements. His land to soldiers initiative, his adoption of citizenship for all three kingdom’s residents, even the non-human ones, his greatest political achievements. He had accomplished this all before 35 years of age. None of it compared to the love he found in Nocturnus though. The staff had led him to a cave in the Dark Kingdom where he met her. She helped him tap his powers, before he fell in love with her, he never knew that he could be so powerful… powerful enough to destroy a whole subcontinent – twice. His mind immediately went to their last moments together. It was one year after he had sunk Ulandus, and they were back in this same chamber. DSC_1764 by skaforhire, on Flickr Things had taken a turn for the worst. He had used the same mass ritual to try and destroy most of the Western Marches. western march by skaforhire, on Flickr But something had gone wrong. It had not succeeded as planned. Another great force had played against his ritual, many of his priests had died in some sort of backlash, and his reports told him that a new ruler led in the West. One who over the next six months would unite the Western Marches, tap the power of the Faeries of the Enchanted Forest, enlist the Goblin King of the same realm, ally the remaining Drow, and find a way to maneuver and army hundreds of miles to Kaligem, while dealing devastating blows to the Pharaoh’s forces. His name was Agalmar, Lord of Pender, the largest city in the Western Marches, and we was now in the Tomb of Kings. DSC_1765 by skaforhire, on Flickr “False king, Kaliphlin scum, I come here to destroy you once and for all! The people of Historica are free from your bloodline’s tyranny.” The intruder announced himself. “I Agalmar of Pender will vanquish you.” Ark’Mora called back. “Your people brought this war upon them. Three decades of peace shattered by the killing of a baby! The nation of Kaliphlin will be restored.” He readied for a fight. He was exhausted, his magic was still recharging. Much of it had been drained in the long war with South Kaliphlin and Ulandus – They had risen up in protest over his connections to Nocturnus. A trait the Ulandians would hold even to the present day, a distinct hate for the immortal, the undead, the ever living. They still cursed the name Nocturnus to this day, and most during his first life knew that the region was the source of his great magic and immortality. “You attempted to destroy the West as you did Ulandus. Well, we were not so equally terminated. Maelord, our great Fae Wizard saw your spell in progress, and the Faery forces countered your blow before it was too late.” Agalmar said. Ark’Mora would learn after he began his second life that his spell had worked partially, destroying much of the landmass of the Western Marches, and creating the Mystic Isles. Avtoday by skaforhire, on Flickr Ark’Mora stepped forward to fight the man, only one guard stood in between the two rulers. But then, out of the shadows the Goblin King appeared behind the Kaliphlinites. DSC_1767 by skaforhire, on Flickr Ner’I’ti, always by his side since his pilgrimage to Nocturnus, had no chance. The Goblin King sliced her belly, and at the same time, their unborn heir, in one fluid motion. Ark’Mora raged. He turned on the surprised Goblin King and took his head in one motion. DSC_1769 by skaforhire, on Flickr He turned around to see Agalmar dispatch his last bodyguard. But before he could make it to the Western King, he felt cold… so cold. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the Faery Magelord, Maelord. His body weakened, but he still had to fight the upstart King. For her. DSC_1771 by skaforhire, on Flickr They spun, and thrashed at each other, block after block after block, and Ark’Mora could feel all his being draining from his body. Maelord was chanting. DSC_1773 by skaforhire, on Flickr Then he felt a blade enter his back. As he fell, he turned to see the Dark Elf Prince Drooz’Kang, his bloody face smiling after just receiving vengeance. DSC_1775 by skaforhire, on Flickr He could hear them talking over his body. He was not dead. He knew gods did not die. But he was trapped. DSC_1776 by skaforhire, on Flickr “We cannot let them have his body. He is immortal, he could still rise. It would be better to take him with us back to Avon Hill.” Agalmar said. “The staff is the greater source of his power. I will take this, and forge you a sword my king.” Maelord said. “You may need it in the coming battles of retribution. The rest of Kaliphlin will not sit idle. Drooz’Kang spoke up. “I consider our bargain complete human king. Do not come over the Northmounts, our alliance held until the Desert King fell.” “Believe me, dark elf, we have no desire to tread on your tundra filled lands. Stay north, and we will not have a problem.” Agalmar said. At this point, Ark’Mora’s vision faded to black as the last words that he heard came from Maelord. “Perhaps I will make you a new coat of arms too… something more… dragony? Maybe?” +=+=+=+=+= emptyw by skaforhire, on Flickr The next thing he remembered was waking up foggy, and walking. For hundreds of miles. Day upon Day upon day he walked without knowing where he was going. His first clear memory was back in this chamber. But it was so much different. All of his kin, save Kaliph Raa had been plundered. The powerful enchantment protecting his burial place seemed to protect some of what was around him, but mostly just his sarcophagus. empty by skaforhire, on Flickr He could feel his own body regenerating, he looked down to see that he was mostly in burial rags, but he could see fresh flesh returning to his body. He felt… good. But lost, longing for her, longing for his power, his throne. Sadness swept over him as he realized that the dynasty had ended with him, and that respect for his family had dwindled enough that people dare loot their graves! He knew at that moment that he would bring back his family’s honor. He would restore the great kingdom of Kaliphlin. DSC_1729 by skaforhire, on Flickr --------------+ In the weeks to come he gained men, money, and most importantly Kaliph’s staff. Which had been given to him by a supporter… Ra… he was brought back to the present by the Nile Croc’s voice. “My lord, may I please rise and tell you more about our operation?” The Desert King smiled, benevolence, humility, but power and strength. The four points of rulership according to Horros. He would show his subjects all these traits, and he would put the Ulandians back into the ocean, tame the rebel lords, and forge new alliances to strengthen Kaliphlin once more. He cannot afford anything but the clothes on his back and that pitchfork." "Captian Liam! Since when did we frce the underprivallaged to pay for their own weapons when they serve unwillingly in our military? If you are so stubborn, take the funds out of my treasury!" Humbled, captian Liam stormed out of the hall with Peter and Eric following close behind. Kauster would be waiting tomarrow, and Eric led Peter to the mess hall. After an ale and some hearty food, Eric and Peter went down to the armory to request a weapon and armor for Peter. Since Peter had the most experiance wiht a pitchfork, he was provided with a spear and sheld. After a restless night, he felt Eric waking him. Kuaster awaited... Comments appreciated, preferably comments with tips/suggestions.
  25. Edelwald Troops - Avalonia, Task 1; Edelwald Yeomen: An Avalonian commando unit, the Yeomen are a unique combination of veteran Militia and Rangers. Yeomen are trained with Javelins, Swords and Daggers. In wartime the Yeomen are used for such missions as infiltrating an enemy encampment or fortrification and opening the gates for the main forces, stealing plans or eliminating an enemy commander. In peacetime the Yeomen train in their hideout sources say is located somewere in Edelwald and occasionally hunt down a group of troublesome bandits or such. Although not confirmed the Yeomen are led by Edelwald's Lord, Reinhard Sternvale. (Loosly based of the Yeomen unit from the Fantasy Wars videogame.) Edelwald Militia (Pikemen): Edelwald Militia (Longbowmen): Edelwald Knights (Heavy Cavalry): Group shot: I hope you like the troops I created for my land, Edelwald, I don't have massive amounts of minifigs like some people (I like to collect up to 4 of any given minifig, due to budget constraints I can't really get more then that) but I hope this is enough.
