  1. 1st Platoon of the East Company - 1st Battalion Derr's Expeditionary Light Infantry . Inspection with Colours by Bart, on Flickr As @Bregir made clear, any fighting force requires a moc, and as already filled out some forms, here is the presentation. The 1st Platoon of the East Company is being inspected, after finishing their training. There is no bother with full uniforms, the only rule is to wear something of the Battalion colours, green in this case. From left to right: Colonel on a horse, battalion commander, green epaulettes, port-starboard bicorne hat with a big red plume Captain of Infantry, company commander, green epaulettes, fore-aft bicorne hat with small red plume Company runner, (taking messages to and from the colonel to the captain if the companies operate out of line of sight of the rest of the battalion) Company drummer, the only one for which the colonel saw fit to give a uniform jacket too. Lieutenant of Infantry, the platoon commander, with green epaulettes and a tricorne hat with a red plume The fighting men in the platoon, all armed with a good musket and a bajonet. The battalion colours, a green field with the red trident of Derr in the middle, flown from a black staff tipped with a red spear head. The SeaRat colours, identical staff. It is my intention to create the full nine platoons, so you'll see ninety different mini's when the full battalion end up in a fight.
  2. In response to the question posted by @Capt Wolf here . A young man had climbed the gallows platform on the square in Bastion, it had been a while it had been used, but the body of the last one to use the rope was never claimed. Ugh, ugh, My name is Rodebrick of the Independent Layers of Sovereignity Et Reclemations. In short I.L.O.S.E.R. Rodebrick The passing days several creditors have found my office and I have sought out some others. The collective claim to free both the Peacock and the Pearl flying the flag of the Grand Dutchy of Prio has rissen to 750 doubloons. This figure is made up of the Bar tab 160 doubloons, losses of two ships flying SeaRat colours 294 doubloons and 84 doubloons, detainment costs 75 doubloons, occupying the harbour while not trading 110 doubloons, damages sustained by ships flying SeaRat colours 20 doubloons and administration costs 7 doubloons. The collective of creditors expects a swift payment, if no such payment is made, the Peacock and the Pearl will be seized indefinitely, the crew send home and the SeaRat colours hoisted from their mast trunks. The difference in the value of the Peacock and the Pearl and the demanded sum may be taken elsewhere. And when finishing those words Rodebrick claimed down and the crowd that gathered started to disperse, Rodebrick made his way to the ships to deliver the papers in person to the captains.
  3. The second build in Breshaun, the red warehouse in the harbour area. It is next to the Matelot Tavern. This shady part of Breshaun beloved by Sea Rats when they arrive in the harbour. Thanks in advance if anyone of you has any feedback. Greetings, Fraunces
  4. Avast ye salty seadogs ! Here is my introduction post with which I joined the Sea Rats! "It is the twelfth of June, 618. Lothario and Jacobo finally found the last half-brother their father had mentioned once: Alfie. Lothario was the oldest of the bunch and was the one who had a lot of sailing experience. He was the privileged brother to really have known their common parent: the infamous buccaneer Christopher Fraunces. He took Lothario when he received a letter from his dying mother in Quilbignon. Together with his son and crew they raided the Sea of Storms as true Sea Rats. His father never believed in kingdoms, settling or earthly belongings. His decisive personality led the crew of their ship "the Silent Rose" to gold, pleasure and fame until Christopher's sudden disappearance in a night sailing the Terraversa Sea. The crew looked for their captain but found only a half written journal in his cabins without clues, and quickly voted in a new captain. Lothario left his father's crew after arrival in Terraversa, he was the only one who could not forget his father and mentor Christopher. His only clue was the stories he told him about his beloved girls who gave birth to two other sons across the nations. And so he went looking. Jacobo, born in Terelli, only saw his famous father a couple of times when he was a kid. Jacobo grew up to be a natural salesman from a young age, buying valuable lost items in the harbours taverns and brothels to sell them with profit whenever he could, building up a small treasure himself. With this treasure he bought himself a passage to the new world where he quickly found his love for Eslandolan escapades and ended up on an exploring warship sailing from the colonies to the capital. Upon his return in Terelli he heard an Oleon sailor with his same last name was searching for his mother in Terreli, and he hurried to find his mother. His mother was unharmed, and after the siesta someone knocked on the door. It was Lothario, who told him he was one of his brothers. The two had a lot of catching up to do: Lothario told Jacobo about their father and why he chose to life his life like a Sea Rat. Lothario convinced Jacobo that night to forge an unbreakable brotherhood and to find their other brother to make their own destiny like their before them father did. It took the two a long time before they finnaly found where Alfie had settled. Alfie was raised in Arlinsport. His mother left him in a monastery, where he learned he needed to take care for himself very early. He was a fighter and gifted card player, which earned him quite the reputation and even won him his own pub in Breshaun: the Matelot Tavern. On the twelfth of June he played cards against a merchants' captain in his tavern in Breshaun. His opponents' unsportsmanlike refusal to hand over an alleged Ardmond Basker map he lost in a card game against Alfie was quickly handled. Alfie was not the guy to let the liar get away. At this moment his two brothers walked in his tavern and saw how the scourge was thrown out through the door they just entered. They stood directly in front of their younger brother. After a quick explanation they sat down in the corner table. With Lothario explaining and convincing the last brother, Jacobo became enthusiastic and together they convinced Alfie to join their bond. The three decided to roam the Brick Seas like their father did, with the hopes of glory, gold and a free life. Their first adventure would start with Alfie's Fortesque map. Now they only needed a ship." In this pic the personalities of my BotBS characters are summed up: I have licensed the tavern as a small (20x24 studs) Artisan. I would be very happy if anyone of you has any feedback! Greetings, Fraunces
  5. Index Part I, Receiving the Letter Part II, Fleeing Nova Terelli --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Participant players: Bart Vessels: DMDR 6 Starting point: King’s Harbour just hours after the Great Ball. Main and recurring characters (as of chapter 1): Rodsh Derr, former Lieutenant of the Eslandonian Imperial Navy, captain of the Narwal. Cathy Derr, wife of Rodsh Derr, First mate / acting-captain of the Narwal. Jonathan Splicer, Skipper of the DMDR 6 (Derr Merchant Dispatch Runner no. 6) Crew of the DMDR 6 Gold: What Rodsh had in his pocket when he boarded the DMDR 6, about 50 db. Troops: None. Disclaimer: All my builds will be done in LDD (for the time being). < I intended for the next bit to be in a next post, but they got automatically marched > Part I, Receiving the Letter Rodsh and Cathy where on their way back to the Narwal1 after a very much enjoyed Ball, when they came across a disturbance on the jetty. I know that vessel Rodsh thought to him self while they just came within earshot. 1 recieving the letter. by Bart, on Flickr Soldier 1: .. I really hate horsemeat sausage too!…. Sailor: They are a pinnacle of evil, who would even think of eating a noble horse. King’s Harbour harbour master assistant (HMa): WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING! You can’t run past our inspection vessel! And just dock where ever you please! Eslandonian captain (EC): Yes I can. I’m carrying mail, can’t you see I’m flying a gold pennant.² HMa: I don’t care what flag you are flying, but every ship should allow the inspection vessel along side for an inspection! EC: but.. 1 recieving the letter 2 by Bart, on Flickr HMa: And WHY are you opening your hold! You aren’t cleared by customs yet, you aren’t allowed to load or unload anything, and your crew is to remain ONBOARD! EC: Just for ventilation sir. EC: First Mate fetch the cargo papers will you! Eslandonian First Mate (FM): Right away sir. 1 recieving the letter 3 by Bart, on Flickr EC: So, mister Harbour Master how do you propose to resolve this issue? HMa: You slip those moorings and sail out in to the bay! There you anchor and await inspection tomorrow morning! EC: I can’t do that sir, the tide is rising I’ll never get out of the bay. And I have rights, I’m carrying mail. 1 recieving the letter 4 by Bart, on Flickr Rodsh couldn’t help himself, he had to join this argument. His curiosity about the vessel had got the better of him. Rodsh: Mister harbour master, the fair captain is right. If he indeed is a mail carrier he has the right to dock instantly. The custom is to fly a gold pennant from the mast top to show this. And as you can see, she is flying such a pennant. FM: Here are the papers sir. EC: Check for yourself mister Harbour master, our cargo is mail. HMa; This is outrages, I’ve never heard of this! Rodsh: What is the docking rate for small ships this evening? The harbourmaster fell silent, as his mind jumped to conclusions. HMa: 10 quarter-doubloons sir! All there knew it was just 2. EC: First mate, pay the harbour master please. As the harbour master marched his marines off the jetty to waste the cash in the pub, the captain of the ship asked Rodsh: Sir, do you know if the Great Ball has already ended? I’m looking for someone whom may be among the guests. Rodsh: Yes we just came from the Ball ourselves. EC: Do you perhaps know if a lieutenant Derr was there? Rodsh: Yes he was there, he is standing on your deck now. EC: You are Lieutenant Rodsh Derr? Rodsh: It’s former lieutenant, to be honest. I’m captaining my own ship, the Narwal, now, she is moored at the end of this jetty. 1 recieving the letter 5 by Bart, on Flickr EC: I’ve got a letter for you. Rodsh handed the letter to Cathy, and after she read it he told her: Take the Narwal for the necessary careening and replace those leaky planks in her hull. Then take her to cousin Jacob in Nova Terrelli, await any news from me there. I’m going with skipper Splicer. Cathy: Why not take the Narwal? Rodsh: Because the DMDR 6 is much much faster than the Narwal, and she desperately needs the maintenance. You take her, you’ll captain her in my stead. Skipper can we take the next tide? EC (skipper Jonathan Splicer): I believe we can sir, I still have a man ashore but he should return before sunrise. Cathy: I thought no one was aloud off your ship? Splicer: He left before that rule was spoken. (Spoken on such a tone that Cathy knew not to ask more) Rodsh: Straight to Eslandonia? Splicer: I first have to dock in Nova Terelli. I picked up some messages along my search for you that need delivered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ note 1 The Narwal is the ship I’m building for Captain Rodsh, story wise that is the ship he’s been off to all those time. (You’ve already seen the cabin interior.) I just never build her. She is in progress though, you can see a sneak peek on flickr. So story wise I send her off careening for now, maybe she gets added to this story, or maybe not. note 2 The gold pennant is an invention of mine, I’ve no real world base for it. (Although there may be, but I didn’t look into it) I hope this answers the questions on why the DMDR 6 was racing across the sea’s the way I presented her :D Questions: How do I license or report this or do I not for an amrca? Does this work for the game masters or do they require something else to make a game from? Do the stat’s of the ships chosen when licensing come into play at an amrca btw? Is it even possible to add the Narwal later? I like to build her proper and not rush her, just to get this amrca started.
  6. Due to the increasing amount of ships being build, the demand for products from shipyards has risen, a new paint factory has started producing. The lasted batch of paint is ready for shipment, the coach (is it a coach for cargo too?) has just arrived. The red pigment is already running low! paint factory by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 2 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 3 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 4 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 5 by Bart, on Flickr It started as a try out on a brick build rocky base. I'm happy with the result of the rock works and the contrast with the red brick above it. The roof was a challenge, I couldn't decide on what I liked, in the end I came up with this, which is supposed to represent slate. C&C most welcome.
  7. Currently in Bastion. Rodsh: So? What do you think? Cathy: Think?, It’s just some hideous abandoned house. R: I bought it. C: What? Why would you do that? R: To use as a house. C: For whom? We’ve a ship! R: I Thought you’d like it. C: Like it? Did you got hit with a 2x2 brick in the head or something? It hasn’t got a scrape of paint on it. It’s completely overgrown with some poisonous vine. Not to mention the strangler bush over there! R. Poisonous? it got nice flowers C: DO you even have more then one stud in that brain of yours?! R: It can be painted you know. and some gardener can take down that vine. C: Well I’m not living there. I’d rather sail before the mast on an Oleon Order ship. C. How much did you pay for it anyway? R. Just five Doubloons. C. I’m going back to the ship. We are sailing tomorrow, we've got a ball to attent remember. OOC. I was experimenting with building a vine on a wall. and with the current grey scale challenges on the web in my mind, this was the result. The story followed soon after, and then I decided it was worth the post on here. And yes I did this because I got stuck with the water issue on the moc I had planned, (see shipwright thread)

  9. The Building Ships for BoBS topic can be found here The General Master Index of BoBS can be found here The list of factionleaders can be found here Interested in seeing some of these ships in real life? Check out when the next BoBS lay-out is planned here! - Foreword First of all, enjoy this index, BUT DO NOT USE IT TO BUMP TOPICS where the last comment was posted 1 month ago!!! Making indexes is very time consuming, so please do not panic if your ship can't be found in this index! You may always send me a PM when it appears your ship is not in the list, but has been posted for longer than 1 week. A ship is always made by someone. But as ships can have different owners over the time due the MCRA system, there is also the "Owner EB name" where the current owner is stated. The ship can have a different status since last time you checked the INDEX. Some examples: (the status can be found next to "licenced/unlicenced" Active: this ship roams the Seven Brickseas Inactive: it has been a while since someone saw it (meaning mostly the owner became inactive) Destroyed: destroyed in a MCRA action without a renewed licence Sistership "original name": the original ship has been destroyed and a sister ship is made. For Sale: the owner wants to sell the ship, you should pm the owner if interested. [*]All ships that appear somewhere in BoBs can be found in this list. Also the ships made by someone belonging to another faction for a certain faction. These ships are ofcourse unlicenced and they may be for sale (see status). In the Faction Index, they will appear under "Unlicenced Vessels" and are added to the "Royal Fleet". [*]The Official Lego Sets are also included in this index as they are for some people a source of inspiration. Those ships can never be licenced by a member, only by a faction, but they can be used to depict heroic naval battle scenes. - INDEX Foreword Class 0 to Class 2 vessels Class 3 to Class 5 vessels Class 5+ vessels Faction PC Vessel index: Corrington & Eslandola Faction PC Vessel index: Oleon & Sea Rats Faction NPC Vessel Index Vessels for Sale Index Naval Flag Index Sails, Rigging & Masts Index Saved for expansion Building Ships Topic Master Index of BoBS BoBS on Lego Fan Events (your chance to see those ships in real life!) - The ship types - LAST EDIT: 1 May: completely updated 19 May: the KPA 4 - results are updated in the Faction ship index. 10. The natives also know how to sail! they go out to fish, maybe even trade with other islands. This couple has caught enough fish for today and are heading home. @moderator, I mistakenly put 'cat B' in the title, can anyone change that to 'cat A' ? please, thank you)
  11. After successfully selling his rum in Bastion Rodsh decided to check out the rumours about new land. His crew had a great time in Bastion and where willing to go on such an adventure in the unknown. They might even come across another explorer who would be vulnerable to plundering. Rodsh found himself landing on the south side of the island. DSCN5663 by Bart, on Flickr.. The beach was narrow but well suited for landing upon. They dropped the anchor ashore and told Buddy to stay in the boat and guard it. On the beach they there was a chest washed half into the sand, by the looks of it it had been in the sea not even that long. DSCN5664 by Bart, on Flickr - It has GOLD in it grinned Rolf. - Might be empty too Rodsh answered, lets have a look. = Uhm Captain, the Bosun called out. there is a path with a gate here, a gate of bones! Extra pictures: DSCN5667 by Bart, on Flickr DSCN5665 by Bart, on Flickr (I hope it's okay I incorporated the microchallange a bit, (although the opening will get it's own scene) Bart I hope you like it :)
