If Rise of Skywalker fails/under performs, how would that affect LEGO?
eliminator replied to Lego David's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think a key ingredient of the level of popularity for the SW Lego sets depends on the quality and uniqueness of the sets themselves. For the last wave and the just released January 2020 wave, what do we have really? Another A-wing, Y-Wing, TIE, Luke's Landspeeder, "desert building", AT-ST, Millennium Falcon, Kylo Shuttle, etc. At least we got a "UCS" Yoda....and a handful of decent microfighters. Seriously, the most exciting set from the last two waves is the Mandalorian Battle Pack.... Rehashes of sets from the last two years isnt going to get customers excited. It certainly hasn't gotten me excited one bit. -
After my initial reactions, I am warming to this set. I have no issues with the colour selections or the 1+1 layout; the only real "issue" I have is that the teal house seems to be missing a level. Another level would make this set more proportional and fit much better with the previous releases.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
eliminator replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Am I crazy, or are these the primary colours used in the last two modular building releases? This set looks pretty underwhelming.... Nevertheless it will be a nice addition to the collection. -
Looks like this set will be retired early this year; expect some deep discounts soon. Fingers crossed for Black Friday!

Hopefully CW Season 7 results in an updated Republic Gunship. Seems like a no-brainer for Lego to generate easy $$$. -

System scale is usually best bang for buck. Lots of minifigs and swoosh-able! I sold off most of my UCS sets...only kept the minifig scale ones (MF, Slave 1, Imperial Shuttle). -
As a huge Rogue One fan, I'd love to see one of the following "system scale" sets in the future: 1) Scarif Citadel: https://www.flickr.com/photos/89141500@N07/albums/72157678967186825 2) Cargo Shuttle "Rogue One": https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0fe6dd2e-4605-41bd-bc01-74f840fa173a 3) AT-ACT: https://www.flickr.com/photos/graemewatson/40860144665 4) Hammerhead Corvette: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-13059/Jorstad Designs, LLC/ucs-hammerhead-corvette-rogue-one/#comments

Depends on your definition of "UCS".... -
I pre-ordered two Löwenstein Castles with the plan to make the "expanded" full version with the extra parts required. Despite not being based on an actual castle, it still looks great and worth the purchase for me.

The new Tantive IV is alright, but not great enough for me to run out on May the Fourth and pay full price. It's just too bad TLG didn't go a little further and make it UCS...less a system-scale play-set. Perhaps the result of a "focus-group" recommendation....in order to maximize profit. Is the UCS line dead? Maybe they had originally planned to make this a UCS set but decided against it due to cost? Or they just needed "something" for 4 May? Given that it isn't labeled UCS, it would have been nice for them to make this part of the 20th Anniversary line and included a very special anniversary minifig like the others. Nevertheless, I will buy this set. I've sold off a significant chunk of my SW collection (including many UCS sets) and only keeping the ones I favor most and now very picky about what sets I buy. -
Great review! What is the actual calculated scale of this set? How close is it to the scale of the UCS X-Wing and UCS TIE?

I both love it and hate it. Need some time for this to absorb. -

40293 will go nice with the nutcracker and snowglobe -
So, for the eagle-eyes out there, does this Diagon Alley micro appear to be the same scale as Hogwarts micro?

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion

A reveal or significant leak should be out very very soon as we are almost into September. Lego really needs to knock it out of the park this year for the WV theme. The last three years has seen the re-release of the Toy Shop, the introduction of an overly junior-ized train, and a complimentry train station who's best feature was the taxi/bus. IMO, a re-release of the Cottage is actually fine in my books, as it's the best set in the series and could bring in some more buyers to the theme (more sales = more attention from Lego). However, as a collector re-releases hurt my collection. Before the Taj re-release, anyone who saw my collection was blown away by the fact I had one. Nowadays not so much...takes away from some of the fun. Notably for me, there's a seller in my local area that has a sealed Cottage for sale at a fair price (about double original price). I'm ready to buy...or not buy...as soon as solid information about the WV 2019 set is available.
