Seasonal 2015

can someone post the reverse side of the calendar? why is it so complicated to get anything this simple around here? This year completely neglects Halloween in so many ways. We get a "Friends"-like Halloween set (like the Gift shop one from a few years back which was better than this fiasco) and some blurb about Scooby Doo that requires the reverse side... but an angler fish for this month's MM? What about the PAB build for that month or whatever it's called now? Where's the minifigs, the reverse I'm assuming? The MM could have easily have been a Mummy or Skull, I have yet to officially see those except for maybe a few Discovery Center places and Youtube videos. At least we're not getting another pumpkin or Frankenstein monster.

Kinda looks like she's trick-or-treating at a Friends house :shrug_oh_well:

It looks like she is trick-or-treating a poorly designed LEGO set :snicker:

Since this was mentioned earlier in the thread-- the October store calendar has a picture of the first Christmas-themed giveaway/promo, the Holiday Train: https://www.flickr.c...eposted-public/

Not as good a set as those from previous years. And this year, unlike at least last year, you cannot combine double VIP points with grabbing this promo... :sceptic:

You're right; I hadn't even noticed the dates. :hmpf_bad:

I love these little sets. I've been adding them to the sparse interiors of some of my modulars such as the grand emporium so I'll definitely be getting these ones. Can't wait to see the Christmas themed ones

Thanksgiving looks much better. I wonder though if it will be available in europe outside uk since this holiday isnt celebrated or even known very well here.

Starting to post not just Seasonal stuff, but the little LEGO Store exclusive things (Piggy Bank, Pencil holders, etc)

Some new stuff:

40161 'What am I' (some sort of game maybe?)

Bricktober set pics are out. Can't post them from my phone, but Brickset's got them. Thinking of posting everything else for 2016 (Classic and DUPLO) in this topic.

Wow the Bricktober sets look way better than last year, plus this time around, they have much better parts.

Still won't be spending that much money in ToysRUs for something that isn't minifig scale though, but I am curious to see what the Bricktober "Make and Take" will be.

Maybe a mod could merge this thread with the Seasonal 2015 thread

Done. Thanks.

On shop.lego.com someone wrote a review for this set that was somewhat negative and LEGO actually responded:

Decent value, but the devil is in the details...

September 7, 2015

Let me begin by admitting that I absolutely love the seasonal series, and I may have some bias, since I did get the earlier ones (Valentine's, and Easter). Those had a phenomenal design and were great all around. So, I couldn't wait for the Halloween set to come out. But I must say I am somewhat disappointed with this one. For me, the Seasonal sets are all about the details; that's what makes them truly stunning. The details in the Halloween Trick or Treat set were lacking. Most noticeably —

  1. The pumpkin pieces were bland without any printing. They should have at the very least had a printing on the pumpkin to make it resemble a Jack-o'-lantern. Additionally, if they would have made it a light-up piece, that would have been a home run!
  2. The little girl should have had a more complete costume. This may be subjective, but to see her in a black witch hat, while the rest of it is a simple (princess?) dress, feels utterly incomplete, and neither here, nor there. They should have given her a full costume — a witch or a princess.
  3. A little child by herself feels (again) incomplete, not to mention, unsafe. They should have had one or two more 'children' minifigures to resemble a children's group that goes out trick or treating together.
  4. The skeleton is (or should have been) a decoration, which is fine. I would have loved a 'grandma' minifigure giving out the candies to the kid (or group of kids).
  5. Okay, this one may be a bit picky and is subjective again, but I felt the lintel was a bit too plain. Perhaps a brick with some halloween printing would have made this set perfect!

I don't mean to be overly critical of the lego design team, because I know how hard they must work to bring us these sets. However, with the bar set so high with its predecessors (Valentine's and Easter), there's almost an expectation for LEGO to deliver an exceptional experience, and that means making sure the details are gotten right!

Happy Halloween! Cheers!

Thank you for your review, we always love hearing from our fans and what they have to say about our sets and products. We are sorry that this didn’t meet your expectations, I would like to address some of your concerns about this set.

One, the printing on pumpkins would hinder any pieces that we had with that color for any future sets and rising the price of the set. We wanted to keep the set at a fair price for our fans.

Two, being creative is one of the best things about LEGO. With not giving the child a costume it gave more open interpretation to what the fan might want the minifigure to dress up as.

Three, the parents/guardians wouldn’t leave their small child to go trick or treating by themselves so they are standing near the sidewalk watching and waiting for them to finish their treating at the current residents.

Four, the skeleton is a figure “dressed up” in a really awesome costume handing out candy to the children in neighborhood. With creative minds anything is possible.

By hearing what our fans have to say can only us a better company. We will pass your great feedback along to our awesome design team. Thank you again for your great review and we hope that you continue to love our holiday sets.

I kind of doubt that the original designer was consulted for these answers but they seem believable but generic.

I would be curious on how someone else would design this. The face of the house looks weird and it seemed like the designer dumbed it down by trying too hard to make the top of the set look like a roof... in case you didn't get that we are looking at a part of a house. The overhand could be simplified, more roof pieces put on the walls to look like siding, and the tree is not really needed.

Ok.... we need an official Snowman minifigure, like the S8 Santa

Other than that, I love those, especially the Santa one.

Totally in line with the Valentine, Easter and Thanksgiving sets
