That sound like a Schroedinger's cat situation. You'd never know until you open it.. :D Anyway, there would be demand for it! There's hope that TLG releases a later model if not exactly this one. langko Posted May 5 Posted May 5 For me this is one of favourite looking car sets they’ve released in a long time. A shame that there’s practically no chance of being able to buy one. With all the technic cars they are pumping out it would be nice to get some more older and classic cars like this in the lineup. Quote

They did the Ford Model T with the same tires, so hopefully that is a precedent for more historic vehicles from that time period. Who knows, maybe they re-release this car with plastic injection molded rims in the near future. Quote
Stereo Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I have wondered in general why they don't do 2-piece wheels (only the not-a-wheel that replaced Model Team Wheels, sort of, doesn't actually have the groove for a tire though), this seems like a good case for doing that since it's hollow between the front and back face spokes and would be hard to injection mold. Davidz90 Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 For anyone interested, repainted model T rims don't look that good and I have no clue how to dye the tires (spray paint didn't stick). Quote

carlo.fadel Posted May 10 Posted May 10 250 Bugatti bike, 250 E type sets, 1 photos with both bike and E type... maybe this set will be an expensive GWP for bike customers? Quote

Yes, that might make sense as well. But both car and bike will be limited to 250 so who knows. I would be displeased to receive a cheap LEGO set as a GWP for a bike that costs 24,000$, especially one showing an old car. But if you are a Bugatti fan and can afford that ridiculous sum you probably have a collection of vintage cars in your garage anyway. Box Front Box Back Edited May 10 by R0Sch Quote

Sorry for offtopic, but over 30 years ago Bugatti umbrella (when other noname umbrella made from same material was 15 euro, actually about 30 DEM) was about 250Euro (500DEM or more precuselly 2000HRK)... of course I didn't check if it is a fake or has anything with car brand (Romano Artioli was chairmen of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti#Bugatti_Automobili_S.p.A. at that time)...this bike is "cheap" when compared with other bikes of that category... Lego model looks very nice, but I'm affraid how thungs are in Croatia (if they appear in Mueller store) would be reserved for some morons lije was with 1:8 cars...and I can as always just look at pictures... Kind regards Quote

COPERNICON Posted May 12 Posted May 12 the facebook post who leaked it didnt share anything about a release date or window right? it looks like a finished set but it can always be a prototype/moc-up. Quote
Davidz90 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 I figured there's no need for a separate topic for this MOC. Here's my very poor, first attempt at reverse-engineering a set: The model features working inline 8 engine with rear differential and a barebones 2 speed gearbox (actuated by the side lever). Gray parts are spray-painted silver like the rims, with moderate success. Quote
Stereo Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) I think the original steering is something like this, the 87408 toggle joint is probably a different piece and I can't tell how long the axle (black 4L on mine) actually is. Interesting using bar inside towball pin, kinda fragile but I guess it would match the original ball-end link better. Maybe 77598? I don't know if this sideways build would fit into the chassis.
