msk6003 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I asked one set alternative model contest before. My suggestion set limit - must be over 100$(or 99.99 something. least 50~60?) price tag. part limit - No spare part, No extra string or rubber band except already included in set. (Extra string or rubber band part rule can change but I can't acceptable spare part.) -

Now I realize 64t gear can mesh with 16t directly and make 1:4 gear ratio. This gear will be super useful. Even I still want 32t.- 5,657 replies

We already make set smaller, so how about make set larger? -
To me, this situation looks very similar to Meccano. This company also started by reproducing mechanical models, but as the years passed, the proportion of models reproducing exteriors gradually increased. Currently, the company is practically barely hanging on, while creators reminiscing about old products showcase amazing creations at exhibitions. If the Technic theme continues on its current path, it might end up like this. Given TLG's stature, the entire company probably won't suffer that fate, but the Technic theme is certainly going to fail.

[WIP] Lego monorails. [Custom Rail Systems (CRS)]
msk6003 replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I Finially got new curved gear rack in hand. And did some experiment for use monorail. This three combination is match rack gear with perfect backlash. Left - Single 20t gear between two train wheel Middle - Single 20t gear, two half bush, single round tile with hole between two reversed train wheel Right - Single 16t gear between two 50951 tire with roller guard This two is work but both has bad backlash. Espically left one is very poor. Left - Single 12t gear between two 80441 wheelchair wheel Right - Single 8t gear between two 1L beam For maximum possible guide roller distance, If you use full thickness gear this is maximum.(By the way, 28t with that setup is work perfectly too.) Without gear, this is maximum possible distance. -

So model T's tire size is 75x13. Same diameter with vespa and 7mm smaller width. Possible but protrude lot.- 5,657 replies

For my simple and quick test, looks like tire is very similar size with vespa. (75.1) Left one is vespa(75.1) and right one is old motorcycle tire(81.6)- 5,657 replies

I know. I ment that too. Considering spur version has less friction than bevel version on parallel connection, I think if use spur type on those middle gear, friction will be decrease and propeller will spin more freely. And need to remind those spur version is still least x2 more expensive than bevel version currently. Price will decrease if spur version is included on this set.
